Chapter 527: District of Seven Flowers, house 37
Irene and Yulaya were aware of what they were doing. Before leaving the territory, they discussed the possibility that their loved ones could become a target for revenge. After all, they were speaking out against people who were involved in the abduction of young girls.
Irene felt calm knowing that her son and mother were in the territory, in a safe place. Yulaya, on the other hand, did not hesitate and immediately agreed to the proposal. As for Arslan, even during the conversation, he refused to involve his Guild in this case.
He answered the question "why" quite simply. He is not well-known among his guild members and no longer trusts them.
Once upon a time, when the guild was just being created, Arslan had full confidence in the members of his own guild. However, the Defenders Guild does not currently belong to him, but to his Morgan family.
Considering that influential people were involved in the abduction of the girls, Arslan did not rule out that someone from the Morgan family could be involved in this case. Therefore, he didn’t want to involve his guild in this matter.
Apart from just a few people whose loyalty Arslan did not doubt, he no longer trusted the rest of the Defenders Guild members.
As for Hailey, she had not yet returned by the time their actions began. Everyone was sure that she would be fine, and if she ran into something, she would be able to handle it on her own. She wasn’t weak.
Hailey only behaved so calmly and submissively in Arabel’s presence.
Yulaya, Arslan, Irene, and Hazel mostly knew Hailey from her other side, the one she didn’t dare show in front of Arabel.
And at the moment, Arabel was flying on her four dark wings as fast as she could.
The appearance of the mysterious group in black changed the whole situation.
"Who are they and where did they come from?" Arabel wondered as she headed towards the Seven Flowers district.
From Esma’s words, she learned that all these people were dressed in black modern military equipment and armed with the most modern weapons. But what surprised Arabel the most was that some of their weapons had been enhanced with magic.
"According to big sister’s estimates and observations, all of these people were not mortals, but were most likely Awakened," — Arabel muttered.
She couldn’t wait to discuss it with Idan, but after she sent a message through the Lovers’ Plate about the mysterious black group, Idan hadn’t answered her yet.
Arabel wasn’t too worried about him, confident that he had already reached the position of the Queens Guild group and was currently busy. She had suspicions that the groups of the Queens Guild were most likely attacked by the same mysterious black group.
Lost in thought and slightly worried for the safety of her first subordinate, Arabel soon reached the Seven Flowers district. It wasn’t far from Irene’s house from there.
After covering the remaining distance, Arabel appeared in the sky above Irene’s house, and listening, her heart stopped.
"Am I really too late?" she whispered, not hearing a single sound anymore. The house looked normal from the outside, but the lack of lighting stood out from the overall picture.
She noticed several girls from the Queens Guild who were standing near the grounds of the house. Some of these girls were injured.
Arabel quickly went down to the courtyard and hurriedly flew inside. Everything inside was in a complete mess. She saw bullet holes and huge holes on the walls. Was there a burning smell in the air, and maybe some blood?
"Cough, cough," there was a sudden cough, and Arabel looked around at the surroundings and noticed the source of the sound. Turning to him, she found a disheveled girl sitting on a torn sofa, where Irene’s mother usually liked to spend time watching TV.
Arabel immediately recognized her as Hailey, although she found her appearance a little strange. Hailey’s head had black horns on the right side, and part of her right arm was covered with scarlet scales.
"Hailey," Arabel said, and the girl who had been looking down looked up and saw her and smiled broadly. When Arabel saw that smile, she immediately recognized Hailey’s other personality, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ah, mistress, you’re a little late," Hailey said with a smile.
Looking around, Arabel saw no one but Hailey. There were no wounded or corpses, although there was a fair amount of blood on the floor.
"It’s not your blood, is it?" Arabel asked, taking a closer look at the wounds on Hailey’s body.
"Well, not all of it, just a small part," Hailey grinned. Then, getting up from the sofa, she grimaced in pain and staggered.
"Ahhh," she moaned, but a smile appeared on her face again. "Although it still hurts incredibly, but I haven’t felt so satisfied in a long time. I finally managed to get rid of this unpleasant itch."
"What happened?" asked Arabel.
"Well, the house was invaded. When I returned, I didn’t find anyone, but I knew you wouldn’t forget about me, so I decided to watch TV. There were snacks and booze in the fridge," Hailey said, gradually returning to her calm version.
There was no longer a smile on her face, but rather an expression of suffering.
When Arabel offered her recovery potions, Hailey refused. She explained that injuries contribute to her improvement to some extent and that she needs to rely on her body’s ability to heal itself without outside help.
"There were four attackers, and all of them were dressed as soldiers from a special unit. However, none of them had identification marks, so it’s hard to tell if they were military or from a private military company," Hailey continued.
"Were they awakened?" asked Arabel.
"I do not know," Hailey shook her head, but then added, looking at the pool of blood.: "But they definitely weren’t mortals."
"During the collision, I couldn’t hold back and injured all four of them, aiming at their arms and legs, breaking their bones, trying to catch them alive," Hailey confessed. "But they were recovering from their injuries right in front of my eyes."
"After discovering that there was no one else in the house, they used some kind of smoke grenades to confuse me and block my Soul Forces, and then quickly retreated. It wasn’t until the smoke cleared that I realized they were gone," Hailey said, disappointed.
Arabel sighed, realizing she was right. It was the members of this mysterious group who invaded Irene’s house.
"Arabel," — Hailey called.
"I could swear that during their recovery from their wounds, I felt the fluctuations of the element of Light," Hailey said with confidence in her voice. She continued, "I have an assumption that these people were not awakened like us and were not the Hosts of the Systems. They are most likely those people who have become cultivators with the help of an external force in the person of Beings of Light."
