Chapter 526: A mysterious group in black
"Is something wrong?" asked Yulaya, noticing how Esma’s joyful face clouded.
"Irene’s group is late..." said Esma, sharing what she had learned from Arabel before she broke off the connection.
"Then let’s hurry," Yulaya suggested, and Esma nodded and increased her flight speed, no longer caring about stealth.
The second shelter they were heading for was located at a considerable distance from the city center, in one of the old large estates. It was precisely because of this distance that Esma’s group reached their destination later than the first one.
When Esma, Yulaya and Hazel saw the estate from above, their first thought was that they were too late. The manor was plunged into darkness, and not a single light source could be seen.
However, then they noticed small flashes in the windows of the estate and heard the muffled sounds of gunfire. The girls exchanged glances and, becoming serious, rushed there.
The girls appeared almost at the very end of the sweep of the shelter, conducted by a mysterious group in black, well-equipped and armed with modern weapons.
"We have guests," a voice sounded through the communication device, and the black—robed figures instantly took up combat positions.
Esma burst through the window without another word, followed by Yulaya and Hazel.
Without any warning, the black figures opened fire.
Flashes flashed in the darkness of the manor, and a hail of bullets rained down on Esma and her companions from all sides.
Esma quickly created a barrier of water around them, protecting not only herself, but also the girls.
"Change of tactics!" — upon hearing this command, some of the black figures stopped shooting and, taking out a new magazine, reloaded their machine guns. Before the others ran out of bullets, they opened fire.
Esma immediately noticed that the new outbursts were somehow unusual. When the bullets hit the barrier, her eyes widened in surprise. Previously, her water barrier had easily protected her from bullets, but now she could feel its strength dropping.
"These are not ordinary bullets!" she exclaimed to herself.
"Be careful! They have bullets soaked in magic!" she quickly warned Yulaya and Hazel.
Both girls widened their eyes in surprise.
"Bullets soaked in magic?" they exclaimed, also focusing on the bullets. And indeed, they saw that something was wrong with them.
If even ordinary bullets were dangerous to them, then bullets soaked in magic were deadly. Not only were they faster, but they could easily pierce through their defenses like ordinary bullets through the bodies of ordinary people.
Esma, realizing the gravity of the situation, sighed regretfully.
"I’ve been dreaming of seeing what my younger sisters are capable of, but it seems like it’s not going to happen today," she whispered.
Esma understood that bullets were dangerous for Yulai and Hazel, but not for her.
Not wanting to put her new sworn sisters at risk, she decided to act on her own.
"I saw a video that said that the human body is 60 percent water," she said loudly so that everyone could hear. "What will happen to a person if all the water is completely drained out of him?"
Esma’s sea-green eyes shone, and an unusual wave swept through the estate, engulfing everyone inside.
The black figures suddenly stopped shooting.
"What is it?" — said one of them.
Suddenly, everyone felt their bodies start to heat up, and soon they were covered in sweat. My throat was dry and my heart was beating faster.
"Oh!" said Esma, feeling the resistance of all the black figures.
"The Awakened ones?" "What is it?" she asked, but she wasn’t entirely sure. However, one thing was clear: all these people were not ordinary mortals.
"Retreat!" came the order.
"Grenades!" The black figures pulled out grenades and threw them towards Esma and the girls. But Esma just laughed out loud.
"How naive!" — she said and, using the Soul Force, returned the grenades to their owners.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
There were explosions.
And after a few seconds, Esma’s smiling face froze.
The whole room was shrouded in thick smoke. This smoke filled the space with some kind of strange energy that prevented her from using her Soul Force. Because of this, she couldn’t see the figures in black, not to mention that her ability to draw water from the bodies of these figures had also lost its effectiveness.
When the smoke cleared, Esma found that all the figures in black had disappeared.
With her Soul Force, she searched every corner of the manor, but she couldn’t find anyone except a few unconscious young girls.
Esma quickly suspected that perhaps these people had a way to hide from the detection of Soul Power.
"Phew..." she sighed and turned around to look at her younger sisters.
If they weren’t here, Esma would have turned everything upside down to find these black rats. But she restrained herself and decided to stay with Yulaya and Hazel to help them collect evidence and information that the black figures did not have time to destroy or take away.
At the same time, Esma contacted Arabel and told her what they were up against.
Arabel, who had been waiting in the center, about equidistant from both shelters, was stunned by what she heard.
The mysterious group in black, armed with modern weapons enhanced with magic, couldn’t help but cause her alarm. She had never imagined that such a thing was possible.
While she was in a state of shock, another shocking piece of news she received from Bera caught her attention.
The house of Irene and Idan, located at 37 Seven Flowers, was attacked.
Irene found out about this from her Guild members who were patrolling the outside of her house. They heard the sounds of fighting and destruction coming from Irene’s house and immediately contacted her, and she, in turn, shared this information with Bera.
"Hailey!" Arabel exclaimed, remembering the one they had decided not to involve in this case, leaving her to run errands.
Hailey could only enter their territory with the help of Arabel or Idan, since she herself, like the others, did not have such a right. She understood that Arabel had to help Irene and the others move into their territory, so she had to return to Irene’s house.
Even before Hailey returned to Irene’s house, Arabel summoned Bera.
Without wasting a second, Arabel hurried at high speed to the Seven Flowers area, to Irene’s house.
