Chapter 423 Xu Yan

Su Ling and her companions returned laden with spoils. By the time they reached the site of their new base, night had fully descended.

The large trucks rumbled into the castle and were parked in the designated area.

Su Ling headed to the mess hall to hand over Shang Qi’s spoils for processing by those in charge of dinner preparations.

After leaving the mess hall, Su Ling intended to return to her room for a bath and a change of clothes.

Just as she exited the mess hall, Bai Heqing and Rao Can sprinted towards her.

Upon seeing Su Ling, they stopped, their breathing even and faces unfazed.

Su Ling saw them and halted, asking, "What’s wrong?"

Bai Heqing looked at Su Ling and explained the situation: "Sister Ling, please go and see. Those people that Brother Shang Sheng brought back are causing a huge scene. No one can reason with them. They’re all shouting that they want to see the owner of the castle and talk to her."

Su Ling was the owner of the castle, so it was naturally she they would want to talk to.

Actually, Su Ling had already guessed what was happening even before Bai Heqing told her.

She didn't expect gratitude from everyone, but at least they could be sensible.

Su Ling looked at Bai Heqing and Rao Can, her red lips parting, "Where are they? Take me there."

Bai Heqing nodded and walked ahead with Rao Can, Su Ling following behind them.

The people brought back by Wen Shang Sheng had been arranged to stay in an apartment building behind Su Ling’s luxurious castle.

The apartment building was fully equipped, offering a living environment vastly superior to their previous conditions in the prison.

However, after seeing the luxurious castle, those brought back by Wen Shang Sheng became unwilling to settle for the apartment building. Their eyes were set on Su Ling’s luxurious castle!

Thus, not content with living in the apartments, they openly defied Sister Na, who had shown them to their accommodations.

This led to Bai Heqing and Rao Can rushing out to find Su Ling, requesting her intervention to quell the unnecessary conflict.

When the three of them appeared in the open space in front of the apartment building, the group of people Wen Shang Sheng had brought back were now glaring at Sister Na, as if she had committed a heinous crime.

Sister Na, however, remained unfazed by their hostile stares.

Zhou Tingna stood outside the crowd. She was clear-headed and had not participated in this protest.

The moment Su Ling appeared, Zhou Tingna was the first to notice her.

Leaning against a tree, Zhou Tingna tilted her head, curious to see how Su Ling would handle this farce.

Su Ling walked to Sister Na’s side and stood still. Yang Yang, who had been standing protectively in front of Sister Na, immediately wagged its tail and walked towards Su Ling upon seeing her.

Looking at this group of people, whom they had rescued and brought back, yet who showed no gratitude, Su Ling’s face turned cold, and her voice was icy, "What are you doing?"

Those people recognized Su Ling. Seeing her now, their aggressive demeanor slightly diminished as they turned their gaze towards her.

The leader, a girl named Xu Yan, crossed her arms and looked at Su Ling, "We’re not causing trouble, we’re expressing our needs."

Su Ling looked at Xu Yan, her expression still cold, "What needs?"

Xu Yan, with her arms crossed and head slightly tilted, looked up at Su Ling, a hint of arrogance in her voice. "We don't want to live in the apartment building, we want to live in this beautiful castle!"

As she spoke, Xu Yan pointed a finger towards the distant luxurious castle, indicating it to Su Ling.

Su Ling regarded Xu Yan, immensely curious as to who had given this person such courage and confidence.

"Reason," Su Ling asked, her temper still remarkably patient, not yet having erupted.

Xu Yan wrapped a lock of hair around her finger and looked at Su Ling, covering her mouth as she let out a light laugh, "You brought us back, so you have to take full responsibility for us. We are guests, after all. It’s not unreasonable to ask to live in the castle, is it? It’s only fair and logical, right?"
