Chapter 529: The ambush 2
For all the awakened ones, the Soul Force has become a real discovery, giving them the opportunity to perceive the world differently from ordinary people. It allowed not only to interact with objects from a distance, but also to see things that are inaccessible to ordinary eyes.
The Awakened quickly got used to using the Soul Force, and it became an integral part of their lives. Some of them started relying on her too much, becoming addicted.
The girls from the Queens Guild, being Awakened and for the most part being the Hosts of Ordinary Systems, also depended too much on the Soul Force. And so, when the one they had been counting on lost its power, and the thick smoke prevented them from seeing anything, they found themselves in a helpless state.
The street was shrouded in thick smoke.
At that moment, several doors located on the sides of the column opened, and people in black military uniforms began to come out of them. They were wearing masks and special glasses that allowed them to see through the smoke.
If the girls from the Queens Guild saw them, they would be very surprised. Just a few minutes ago, they were inspecting these buildings and found no one.
But now, about ten armed and ready-to-fight people were running out of buildings where there hadn’t been a soul before.
All these people moved quickly and smoothly, and there were faint glowing strange inscriptions on their clothes and equipment.
"Don’t kill anyone, just wound them," all these people heard through the communication device and, taking aim, began shooting at the defenseless Awakened Ones.
Over the years of the Awakened’s existence, scientists have conducted a lot of research, and thanks to this, the people who opposed them were well aware of the Awakened’s capabilities.
Compared to ordinary people, the Awakened Ones had more vitality. If they were not killed instantly, damaging vital organs such as the heart or brain, they could survive and recover.
Knowing this, the men in black focused their attacks not only on the arms and legs, but also on the entire body of the Awakened Ones. Caught off guard, the girls of the Queens Guild became easy targets for them, and in a matter of seconds, the bullets, enhanced by magic, reached their targets, disabling everyone.
Nayla, who came forward to negotiate, was also trapped in the smoke, as were the men in front of her. She lost sight of them, and her Soul Force was suppressed by that strange smoke. Further than two meters away from her body, her Soul Force was dissipating, and she couldn’t sense anything with it.
Like the other girls, she was caught off guard and horrified by the shots that hit her in the legs, stomach and arms.
Nayla, struck by the magic bullets, fell to the ground. Even though she and the other girls were Awakened, it didn’t ease the pain they were experiencing. Because of their injuries, they couldn’t stand properly, let alone fight back against the attackers.
Edgar, his sisters, and the rest of the restaurant staff, sitting in the SUV, were overcome with fear. They couldn’t figure out what was going on.
In an instant, smoke filled the area, then they heard the muffled sounds of gunfire. The awakened ones from the Queens Guild began to fall, screaming in pain due to their injuries. Some of the bullets penetrated the Awakened Ones and hit the SUVs, increasing fear and panic.
After making sure that the Awakened Ones no longer posed a threat, the armed men, ignoring the restaurant staff, headed for the SUV in which Edgar and his younger sisters were.
Edgar and his sisters were horrified when these mysterious people opened the car door and pointed machine guns at them. Ashley and Emily, clinging to Edgar, began to cry, sniffling. The armed men acted with great caution, ready to act decisively if Edgar tried to resist.
"Come out," one of them ordered in an altered electronic voice.
Edgar obeyed the order and got out of the SUV, hugging his younger sisters tightly.
He didn’t understand what was going on and why these people were so interested in him and his sisters.
By this time, the smoke had begun to clear, and Edgar could see part of the scene.
It hurt him to see beautiful girls injured, and his heart ached.
Edgar was not stupid and realized that he was the reason for the attack on the group of the Guild of Queens. After all, as he saw, these men in black did not pull anyone else out of the SUVs, leaving them trembling inside in fear.
After taking control of their targets, the men in black, remaining vigilant, headed towards the others.
Edgar and the girls, silently trembling with fear and uncertainty, followed them.
The man who had talked to Nayla earlier realized that the mission had been completed successfully when he saw the armed men leading Edgar and the girls to them.
His face, hidden behind a mask, expressed displeasure as he looked at Edgar and the two girls. Because of this Awakened Silver Rank, they had to face one of the most famous Guilds, led by one of the heroines of the Federation, whose abilities, as he knew, were not the most pleasant.
But he was even more disgusted when he looked at the two little girls.
After handing over Edgar and the girls, the armed men nodded and began to retreat.
"Mission accomplished, we’re leaving," the man said, giving an order to his companions. He took one last look at the injured Nayla, who was lying nearby, and turned around and headed for the black SUVs.
However, they hadn’t even gone halfway when a strong pressure descended on everyone present, causing an unpleasant feeling. They felt nauseous and had a strange effect on their thoughts and emotions.
The members of the mysterious group felt this especially acutely. Along with these feelings, they were disgusted.
Lifting their heads, they saw a creature with two massive purple-pink wings appear, looking down at them. The creature was wearing a purple hooded cloak, and on his face was a mask with a crazy smile.
The man who commanded the men in black noticed the emblem with the letter "K" and a lock in the background on the creature’s left chest and immediately recognized it.
"Kingdom Guild," he said gloomily.
What he feared most and wanted to avoid had happened.
