Chapter 303: A Premiere To Remember
Cassie frowned as the attention of the press shifted from her towards the fleet of cars that had just arrived. Heading the fleet was a silver convertible, with Damien and Sadie seated next to each other in the back.
He stepped out first, and then circled around to open the door for his co-star. Together, they walked towards the red carpet, hand-in-hand, waving and smiling.
Cassie rolled her eyes, ’What a showoff.’ she thought, watching them as they answered the questions from the reporters.
"Oh, what the hell is she wearing?" she snickered, noticing the flowing blue dress Sadie had on. It was plain, and to Cassie not run-way material. Had she been the one making her debut premiere she would not be caught dead in what she was wearing.
Seeing as she was the best dressed became a huge ego booster for her. ’There is no chance in hell that Brooke will dress better than me, even in my condition I outshine her. Maybe she’s waiting for me to get off the carpet before stepping down.’
"Cassie dear, let’s go inside, we shouldn’t hog this area." Julian tried to persuade her. "The other guests have all gone inside." Save for Damien and Sadie, they were the only other people still left on the red carpet.
And what was worse, the press were no longer paying her any attention.
"Come on daddy, I used to work with Sadie, I want to congratulate her on her first movie’s success." she said, but secretly all she wanted was to see her sister, Brooke.
After Damoen and Sadie stepped down, Dylan and the director arrived togther, alongside president Lucas. Cassie kept an eye on the last car in back, wondering If Brooke was inside it.
Julian sighed in defeat, and waited uncomfortably next to Cassie, as Damien and Sadie made their way towards them.
"Damien, congratulations on your movie!" she greeted him with a hug.
Damien returned the hug, but in her ear, he sternly said, "Don’t think of pulling any tricks tonight, skank."
She returned his greeting, "You have no idea." then pulled away. She shifted to Sadie, and frowned at her abdomen, she couldn’t tell what it was, but something about her felt off.
"Sadie! It’s been so long! I can’t believe how much you’ve grown since then." she said, beaming wide grins at the cameras, refusing to meet Sadie’s eyes while she spoke.
Sadie stiffened, but managed to keep a straight face, "Thank you for coming to see me, it meas so much to me."
"Of course, I would not miss this for the world. And I hope that in the future, you will be willing to work with me on a project some time." she said, trying to take advantage of the steady rise in Sadie’s popularity.
’Once I pop this baby out, I’ll need a number of gigs waiting for me. Once I hear back from the director about that role, I’ll throw a role at this bitch to keep some relevance.’ she thought, glad that Sadie was still a desperate little puppet dancing to her strings.
"About Luther, I am deeply sorry you had to go through all that, that man was a monster, it’s a good thing he’s out of both our lives forever." she announced, gaining the attetion of the reporters.
Damien who knew where this was going, quickly went inside, not ready to have the entire interview turn into one of Cassie’s melodramas.
Fortunately, just as he left, the reporters cried in recognition, as the woman of the hour alighted her car. Holding out a black umbrella, a man in a black suit opened the door for her, while another young, tall and handsome man held her hand, escorting her towards the carpet.
The moment she walked the carpet, all eyes shuffled towards her, and the long stunning black dress she had on. Another man in a suit stood behind her, holding her designer bag in a glass box, as she strutted past the press.
She carried an aura of authority and a sharpness in her eyes, that the reporters stood on both sides, forming a path for her to walk through.
Even while flashes from the camera came at all angles, she did not flinch, gracefully she made it to where Cassie stood.
For a second, Cassie was left dumbstruck, was this really her vegetable sister? The ugly bitch that was beneath her?
she shook her head, just because she cleaned up a bit did not mean she had changed.
Forcing a smile, Cassie stretched her arms out, "Brooke! Long time no-"
Cassie’s words lost all meaning when Brooke walked past her into the awaiting event, as though she hadn’t seen her.
Her action erupted a stir from the press, they shifted theur gaze from Cassie and went after Brooke, trying to get a word out of her, but the security at the enterance kept them at bay.
Cassie was stunned, had that silly wench forgotten who held leverage over whom? Her fake smile faltered, had it not been for Julian who led her inside, she might have had a crash out in front of everyone.
Stepping inside did not make matters any better, because when she reached her designated seat, the one that she had Julian pay good money to secure her, Cassie met a nasty shock.
Sitting on her seat was none other than Brooke’s bag!
"Oops! I didn’t know someone was sitting there." Brooke snickered, "When I came in, everyone was already seated, I imagined, it was an empty seat." she added.
"It’s not a problem, at least the misunderstanding is now cleared, so you can have your people move it-"
Brooke cut her off, "Move it? The only available seats are at the back, and I can’t be away from my bag, it’s from a quite expensive brand." In a low tone, she added, "Not that you would know."
Cassie looked around at all the people staring at them, she balled her fists, caging her anger. "But, this is my seat."
Brooke cut her off, "I see, it must have cost you quite a lot to reserve this. Send me your account details, I’ll wire you some money to compensate."
"Haa." Cassie sighed, her fist growing tighter.
Did Brooke forget she had that picture of her? Not forgetting the new evidence from her visit to the hotel last night.
"Oh? Are you angry? No need to take it to heart, I was only kidding around, don’t tell me you’re picking a fight with me over a seat." she gauded her, her sultry tone and taunting eyes bringing Cassie closer to her limit...
