Chapter 293: A Direct Order
Cassie disconnected the call and tossed her phone over to her assistant, "Switch it off, I’m not answering any more calls today." She told her as she sunk into her neck pillow.
"What if Mr Reginald calls?" Hannah asked.
But Cassie plugged in her noise cancelling earphones and fell asleep. She stayed asleep the whole ride until they pulled over at Luther’s mansion.
Once they arrived, the driver stepped down to help carry the luggage. But Hannah held her palm up, stopping him. Her voice a soft whisper she said, "Miss Cassie is sleeping soundly, let’s not wake her up."
"But the items-"
"All that shuffling will disturb her, and you know better than I do how cranky she gets, imagine what she’ll do if we wake her up?" Hannah suggested, earning a nod from the driver.
"But whose going to carry her things when she wakes..." he stopped himself when Cassie stirred in her sleep.
"Shhh!" Hannah held her finger to her lip, the driver covered his mouth, his eyes widened in shock.
"Don’t worry, I’ll stay with her, and when she wakes up I’ll carry them. You can leave now." She told him.
"You’ll take the blame if she gets mad?" He asked for clarification.
Hannah smiled, "Of course."
Satisfied, he left to his quarters, leaving behind Hannah and a peacefully sleeping Cassie.
Once he was out of sight, she reached into Cassie’s bag and pulled out her phone. Then, she reached into her own bag, and pulled out an identical looking phone. She quickly took off Cassie’s pink phone pouch and slipped it on the identical looking phone.
Next, she turned them both on.
Stealing glances at Cassie, she began setting up the fingerprint configuration on the identical phone. And then slowly, she grabbed Cassie’s wrist, and brought her thumb to her screen.
"Stay still now." Hannah muttered, scanning Cassie’s thumb on the screen. The phone began collecting data from her biometrics, starting from zero percent.
’Shit.’ she hissed at the numbers just moving to five percent. To herself she grumbled, ’Since I can’t take the phone back with me to crack, I had to use this cloning software. But damn, the security transfer is too slow.’ the software she created allowed her to copy every ounce of data on a phone and recreate it on another device using the owner’s fingerprint.
’I already did the first bit when I set up the software on her phone earlier, but this is the part that takes the most time. Shit, I should’ve fixed this sooner.’ But she had never imagined she would be working for Cassie or had any use for the software.
Master Grayson’s orders were precise and left no room for discussion.
"Erase all incriminating evidence against Brooke within this week." He had told her and then dismissed her immediately after.
Naturally, she was going to follow his order, but she also saw this mission as a way to make it up to Brooke for even meeting with Tara in the first place.
"Hurry up." She chanted, the numbers were up to thirty five percent, and Cassie had started to turn. If she were to wake up to now...
"Hey! What were you doing in there?!" Serena’s voice from behind pulled Hannah out of her thoughts. She banged her fist on the car’s window, calling for attention
Hearing her mother’s voice, Cassie began to wake up.
Casually, Hannah dropped both phones to the ground, then kicked them under the seat.
Rolling down the tinted glass, Hannah flashed a wide grin, "Madam Serena! Welcome back!" She greeted.
Serena frowned, "Welcome back? You idiot, you’re the ones who left, why are you telling that to me?" She snapped at her.
"Hey! Enough of that yelling. You’re giving me a headache!" Cassie scolded her mother, removing the spec from her eyes.
Serena cracked a nervous laugh, "Sorry love, I was worried when you weren’t leaving your car, I didn’t know you were napping-"
Cassie raised her palm, "Enough talking, your crappy voice already ruined my nap. First Ethan gives me his bullshit and now you’re pissing me the hell off!"
She turned her attention to her assistant, "And you? Why didn’t you tell me we’ve gotten home?"
"Miss Cassie, I didn’t dare disrupt your beauty sleep!" she receited, her tone sincere.
Cassie looked her from head to toe, then scoffed, "It’s good you have something up there. Take the stuff we bought inside, and have the maids make me something to eat."
Serena went round and opened the door for Cassie, "There’s no need honey, I’ve already prepared everything-"
"I don’t want to eat your mediocre cooking, it’s bad for the baby." Cassie hissed, taking her hand and slowly getting out of the car.
"Pass my phone, I have calls to make." She said, her hand stretched out.
Hannah nodded, "Of course-" she turned to grab her bag but ended up nudging it with her elbow, throwing it on the ground, it’s contents scattered abroad.
"I’m such a klutz! Let me get your things!" Hannah crouched down and reached under the seat, searching for the scattered items.
"Ugh! I spoke too soon!" Cassie groaned, her hand at the side of her temple.
Serena hissed, "I told you to have this woman fired, she’s useless!" Her mother scolded. "Get out of the car, I’ll get her things myself!" She insisted, pulling on Hannah’s shirt.
Hannah quickly grabbed both phones, under the seat she quickly exchanged the pouches back, then slid the second phone into her shirt.
"Hey! Didn’t you hear me?! I said get out-" she got in the car, but Hannah sprung up, her elbow accidentally hitting Serena’s nose.
"Miss Cassie! I’ve found your phone!" She yelled, raising it.
Serena fell to the seat, her hands protecting her swelling nose. "You bitch! How dare you?!" She yelled with teary eyes.
Hannah gasped, "Madam Serena, why are you crying? Did you hurt yourself?"
Serena rolled her tongue around her mouth in disbelief, "You’re doing this on purpose aren’t you?!"
"Doing what ma’am? I simply tried to find miss Cassie’s phone." Hannah responded with a pout.
Serena was enraged, she raised her hand to hit her, but Cassie intervened. "Didn’t I tell you your voice was giving me a headache?!" Cassie scolded her mother.
"But Cassie-"
"Both of you shut up! The sun is scorching and I don’t have the time for this. You, hand my phone over and come with me. Mother, take the stuff we bought inside, then have the driver clean up." she announced.
Serena tried to protest, but her daughter shot her a nasty glare. "Do we have a problem?" Her icy tone sent shivers down Serena’s back.
Before she could answer, Hannah stepped down from the car, and stuck to Cassie’s side, locking her arm in hers. "Miss Cassie, let me help you inside, all this stress is bad for the baby." Hannah said, in a gentle coaxing tone.
Cassie nodded and followed her lead into the awaiting mansion.
Watching them walk away, Serena balled her fists, "That assistant, she has to go!"
