Chapter 255: Apologize Or Else...

Julian looked like he had seen a ghost. A huge part of him wanted Cassie to deny having any connection to what happened to Brooke in the past. He wanted her to claim Brooke was lying, he wanted a reason to believe her.

Cassie repeated herself, "And so what if I did any of that? You’re my father, you’re meant to be on my side. What I did and didn’t do is all in the past anyway." She said, then helped herself to a seat at the table.

Serena felt years of her life shortening. Why did Cassie have to go and say that?

She cracked a nervous laugh, "Julian she’s just bitter over how badly Brooke treated her-"

Julian got up, "Cassie get up, you’re coming with me to go apologize to Brooke."

"Haa?" Cassie looked disgusted at the thought. "Why the hell would I do that?" She asked, genuinely confused.

Brooke was beneath her, so why would she do something as inhumane as apologizing to that leech?

But Julian stood his ground, "You are going to apologize to Brooke and that’s final."

Cassie gripped her fork tightly, "And like I just asked, why would I do that? Ethan chose to be with me, and that bitch fell down the stairs by accident." Her lips curved into a sadistic grin after she mentioned the incident.

Serena noticed the rising tension, she would’ve hurriedly rushed to call her brother to handle things, but her phone had been smashed by Cassie.

Julian waited for Cassie to get up from her seat, but she surprised him by digging into the food on the table, ignoring his request.

In a gentler tone, Serena made her way to Julian, she wrapped her arms around him from behind, "Julian, you’re raising your voice and scaring poor Cassie. Why did you even bring that cursed girl here? I agree Cassie did some wrongs, but Brooke is not some saint. I bet she didn’t tell you half of the bad things she did to Cassie."

She tried to sway Julian’s mind, and turn him against Brooke. In the first place, Serena was shocked that Brooke and Julian knew each other, talk less of him inviting her to dinner.

She went on, "She’s a rotten kid, she was arrested recently on attempted murder, heaven knows who that slut slept with to get out. She’s always been promiscuous, and got under the sheets with any man that gave her the time of day. Ethan find out about her wicked ways and tried divorcing her. But that greedy girl wouldn’t let him go." She explained, tears streaming down her eyes.

After she finished speaking, she smiled inwardly, ’I don’t know how Brooke managed to sneak into this house, but it’ll be her last day here. That wench would jump at the chance to inherit Julian’s wealth if she knew the truth. Good riddance to her.’

But her smile faded when Julian ripped her hands off him and inhaled sharply. His voice clear, his words sharp and concise he told Cassie, "Unless you’re willing to make up for your bad behavior, Cassie, I will not be living with you anymore."

Cassie was startled, "What?" She turned to her mother for help.

Serena quickly tried to intervene, "How could you say something so cruel? She’s your daughter! Don’t you have any sense of affection towards her?" She began to cry.

But Julian was not moved. "Brooke is your niece isn’t she? Even if she was half the woman you claimed she was, why don’t you extend some of that affection you speak so fondly of?"

Before Serena could answer, Cassie sprung up, her hand rested on her bulge. "You’re taking Brooke’s side? You’re seriously going to send away a pregnant woman, daddy?"

She tried to appeal to his guilt, but Julian looked her dead in the eye and said, "You have Ethan don’t you? Stay with the father of your child, stay with your mother, your aunt, your uncle, stay with your step father even! But as long as I’m alive, you can’t..." He shook his head, "You won’t stay with me until you’re ready to atone for all the wrongs you’ve caused." He said then marched furiously away from the dining room.

Back at Thane’s mansion, Hannah was told by the maids that it was Thane’s driver who called and told them about the arrest before it made the news. He also told them about Gilbert’s condition, but didn’t specify what hospital he was admitted into.

When Hannah tried calling the driver he wasn’t answering. Not only did he not drive Brooke home, but his phone was unreachable.

Where the hell had he gone?

Thinking aloud she asked herself, "Where could Brooke be?" She chewed on her pen.

"Knowing master Grayson, he wouldn’t come home while she was still in prison. But where has he hidden her?" She gave herself a headache for over thirty minutes trying to figure it out.

"Ah!" She ran her fingers through her hair. "It’s no use! I could turn the whole city upside down and never find her. I should direct my energy into someone I can find." She took out her laptop and opened the articles online about Brooke’s case.

She carefully read through them all, then jotted down somethings onto her phone.

After nothing less than ten minutes, Hannah stood up, reached for a grey jacket from her closet, her wallet from her desk and then stormed out of her room!

As she stepped outside the main gates, she got a call. She glanced at her screen, it was Sadie calling. She sighed as she answered the phone and placed it to her ear.

"I’m kinda busy right now, can I call you later?" Hannah said, the phone balancing between her shoulder and ear.

"I’m calling about Miss Brooke, I have something to tell her." Sadie said, her voice sounding low and depressing.

"Like I said, I’m busy, everyone here is, so call later, I’m hanging up now!" Hannah said then violently ended the call.
