Capítulo 1645: Chapter 1645: What’s All This Talk About Suicide
All around was quiet, so quiet they could even hear each other’s breathing, calm but with a hint of urgency.
Joan Harry lay with her eyes closed, continuing to sleep, while Jesse Rowan sat by the bedside.
He was always someone who couldn’t sit still; he didn’t know why today, but he just wanted to sit there, not wanting to do anything else.
The hospital room was very warm, and Jesse Rowan’s suit and hair gradually dried.
He stood up, took off his suit jacket, and hung it on the hanger, wearing only a white shirt underneath.
After loosening his tie, he went to the bathroom to wash his face.
After a while, a nurse came to check on the room and changed Joan Harry’s IV bag.
“She’s awake,” Jesse Rowan informed the nurse, “Should she eat something?”
“She can have something light, like porridge, but it’s okay if she doesn’t eat, we have nutrition IVs,” the nurse said softly.
The man before her was quite handsome; he must be the patient’s boyfriend.
“I understand.”
“It’s best to have someone take care of her, ideally someone to accompany her 24/7.”
Jesse Rowan recalled the doctor’s words, cautioning about postnatal depression.
Joan Harry’s temper was so bad currently, her mood so terrible, along with the fever, it was indeed possible she had tendencies towards postnatal depression.
“Oh.” Jesse Rowan nodded dazedly, understanding nothing.
The last time he came to the hospital was also to bring Joan Harry in with a high fever.
Other than that, he hadn’t been to the hospital in a long time; he hated hospitals, hated the smell of disinfectants.
Even when the old man was sick, he wasn’t inclined to visit the hospital.
“Then I’ll step out now, call me if you need anything,” the nurse said, leaving with a bunch of equipment.
Jesse Rowan nodded blankly.
After sending the maid away, he walked to the bedside, leaned down, and kissed Joan Harry on the face.
He didn’t actually mind kissing her because he found the scent on her pleasant, a tranquil and mild fragrance, like a natural body scent.
Moreover, her face was soft, and kissing it felt nice.
Joan Harry hadn’t been asleep in the first place, and when he kissed her, she frowned with distaste, “Don’t touch me.”
“Oh.” Jesse Rowan refrained, “I thought you were asleep again. Did you hear the nurse’s words? What do you want to eat? I’ll have someone buy it.”
“Don’t bother with me; I don’t want to eat anything at all. Just leave.”
“If I leave, there’s no one to watch over you. I need to keep an eye on you.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t kill myself. It’s not worth it because of you, and I look down on those who commit suicide.”
“Why bring up suicide for no reason?” Jesse Rowan frowned; he disliked hearing those two chilling words.
“Go away.”
“I won’t go away.” Jesse Rowan’s temper flared up too, “Am I bothering you? Since not, why push me away? Besides, it’s raining outside; I don’t have a car, how am I supposed to go back?”
Joan Harry’s shoulders shook with anger; how shameless.
She fell silent, not wanting to pay him any more attention.
The rain continued outside, and Joan Harry, lying in bed, could clearly hear the pitter-patter of rain, occasionally tapping against the window.
She wasn’t particularly sleepy; she simply kept her eyes closed.
Jesse Rowan was relatively busy; he ate dinner alone in the partitioned area, taking several calls from Liamly Finley.
He had indeed been overwhelmed with work these days, sometimes even neglecting meals.
Tonight was initially scheduled for an internal meeting with Liamly Finley and several directors, but he couldn’t focus all afternoon.
“Mr. Rowan, there are some documents you need to review, urgent ones, for tomorrow,” Liamly Finley said over the phone.
