*Boom!*
The talisman detonated inside the alien’s mouth.
The massive fireball exploded, shattering. Immediately after, visibly, more than half of the alien’s head was blown away, with splashes of torn flesh and viscous, foul-smelling green liquid dripping onto the ground. The ground emitted white smoke, hissing.
This blow was undoubtedly a severe injury to the alien, but…
This thing was still not dead!
Being called the perfect combat organism was not for nothing. The terror of the alien, besides its combat ability, lay in its vitality. Half its head was gone, and Bai Ye could see the bone structure within. Yet, the alien grinned with half its mouth and continued to charge towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye quickly flung himself backward, lying flat on the ground.
The corridor wasn't large. With the alien charging at full speed, this was the only evasion method Bai Ye could think of.
*Bang!*
The alien leaped over Bai Ye, slamming into a metal door at the rear. With a loud crash, the door was knocked down, and the alien crashed against it.
It led into an octagonal hall, clearly much larger.
Bai Ye quickly got up and, as he pursued into the hall, conjured another talisman.
“Thunderclap!”
Bai Ye let out a low shout. As the talisman pinched between his fingers burned away, a current of electricity suddenly appeared, fiercely striking the alien’s back.
The thunder curse, evolved into Thunderclap, had indeed seen a significant increase in power. The current struck down, forcing the alien’s massive body to sink, its dorsal carapace shattering, and white smoke rising from its body.
More importantly…
The paralysis effect!
The alien was ferociously aggressive. After taking a hit from Thunderclap, it still tried to force itself back up. However, at that very moment, a sheet of electricity enveloped the alien’s body, causing it to convulse.
It was clear that the paralysis effect had taken hold, preventing the alien from moving easily.
If that was the case, what was there to wait for?
Bai Ye strode forward, picked up a grenade, pulled the pin, and tossed it into the alien’s shattered head. Then, he turned and ran, diving out of the room and rolling back into the corridor.
*Boom!*
Just then, a deafening explosion occurred, with large flames erupting from the room.
Bai Ye could feel an incredibly scorching wave of heat sweeping towards him. The fur trim of his coat emitted a “sizzle, sizzle” sound, followed by a burnt smell.
Three to five minutes later, after the flames receded, Bai Ye slowly got up. The surrounding walls were blackened by smoke, and metal plates lay scattered on the ground.
Returning to the room, the alien’s corpse lay on the ground, completely unrecognizable. Its head was utterly destroyed, its body severed in the middle, split into two halves. A blasted right leg lay in a corner, still smoldering.
Bai Ye took out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth, and relaxed slightly.
This thing was genuinely hard to kill!
Bai Ye felt that the combat ability of an ordinary alien was manageable, slightly stronger than his T-virus-enhanced body, perhaps eight to nine times the strength of a normal human. It looked terrifying, but after half a year in the World Battlefield, most chosen ones could reach this level.
Its attack methods were troublesome, with its entire body capable of being a weapon, but not insurmountable. Therefore, its true strength lay in its resilience.
Bai Ye had to detonate it twice to incapacitate it, and both times the explosions were internal. If it were external, due to its carapace protection, Bai Ye estimated it would take over ten frontal explosions to possibly blow this thing to pieces.
After finishing the cigarette, Bai Ye casually flicked the butt away and continued walking forward.
But at this moment…
“Hello, hello, can everyone hear me?” a voice suddenly came over the broadcast: “First, let me introduce myself. My name is Lin Jiadong. I don’t intend to command anyone, but I want to tell everyone that for this restricted zone, we can cooperate. Because Restricted Zone Mission One and Restricted Zone Mission Two are both escape missions, there’s no conflict between us. Everyone can cooperate to leave the research base… Static… static, static…”
Halfway through the voice’s speech, the broadcast was suddenly filled with noise, along with the sound of something falling.
However, it only lasted for about half a minute.
“Apologies, there was a slight issue with the broadcast equipment. Can you hear me clearly now? For those who aim to kill the Iron Blood Xenomorph, I won’t force cooperation. But if you just want to leave here and complete Restricted Zone Mission One and Restricted Zone Mission Two, I hope everyone can unite. We can become companions and work together to overcome difficulties. Therefore, if you’re interested in my proposal, please proceed to the cafeteria in Area East A2 for assembly. I will be waiting there for everyone.”
After the man named Lin Jiadong finished speaking, the broadcast returned to static for a short while before gradually fading.
Bai Ye stroked his chin. It seemed there were still quite a few “talented” individuals.
Bai Ye found Lin Jiadong quite interesting because he accurately analyzed the current situation.
The core of the restricted zone battles was the competition for rewards, especially for the fragments of the Stone of Gods. However, in this restricted zone, except for Restricted Zone Mission Three, which involved killing the Iron Blood Xenomorph and was unique, the other two missions were escape missions with no inherent conflict between them, thus no necessity for combat.
Therefore, Lin Jiadong’s attempt to persuade people to cooperate was feasible. After all, there was only one Iron Blood Xenomorph, and only one person could complete the mission. It wasn’t that everyone would give up the competition, but more would likely choose to forgo it. Cooperating solely to survive and escape the restricted zone was plausible, especially since there were two other restricted zone missions that could somewhat improve one’s strength.
However, Bai Ye couldn't help but feel that the half-minute interruption in Lin Jiadong’s broadcast was a bit odd. Was it a sudden malfunction of the broadcast equipment? Or was he inexperienced? Why were there sounds of things falling mixed in?
Bai Ye pondered for a moment but didn’t dwell on it.
Meanwhile…
At the research base’s broadcast room…
A smell of blood slowly wafted from behind the door. Blood trickled slowly across the floor.
Inside the broadcast room, a corpse lay face down, a large hole pierced through its chest.
And in front of the broadcast room speaker…
A Predator sat there, holding the microphone. Soon after, as it turned off the broadcast equipment, the Predator pulled down its mask, picked up the spear placed beside it, stepped over the corpse in the room, and walked out of the broadcast room. Reading Network 138.
Area East A2…
The cafeteria!
