Ice beam!
Bai Ye ran rapidly down the corridor, and behind him was a large white bird resembling a seagull.
The white bird opened its beak, and a silvery-white beam of light shot out from its mouth towards Bai Ye.
The next instant…
Crack, crack, crack!
The sound of ice freezing continued to echo, and where the beam passed, frost rapidly condensed, freezing everything in its path.
At this very moment…
Bai Ye suddenly stopped and lunged back at the white bird.
"You bunch of beast tamers..." Bai Ye drew his Zanpakuto and slashed forward forcefully, "What are you all getting into!"
Puff!
A flash of sword energy!
Bai Ye took advantage of the opening after the opponent's attack ended and suddenly launched his own. With a swift movement, a spray of blood splattered, and the white bird fell to the ground.
Bai Ye let out a long sigh and sheathed his Zanpakuto.
The Xenomorphs and Predators were troublesome enough, and now these beast tamers were coming to join the fray, which was quite a headache.
Thinking this, Bai Ye continued forward and soon reached a door at the end of the corridor. He smashed the electronic lock with a punch, and the white sliding door automatically moved aside.
The next instant, the scene within the room unfolded before Bai Ye, causing him to freeze for a moment, and then…
Bai Ye silently gripped the hilt of his Zanpakuto and stepped into the room.
As Bai Ye walked forward, his soles dragged along threads of blood, because the room was filled with blood and corpses!
The corpses had similar deaths, with most having been pierced through the chest by sharp objects. Some of the bodies were incomplete, showing clear signs of being gnawed at.
It was easy to surmise that this was the work of the Xenomorphs.
However, after scanning the surroundings, Bai Ye found no traces of Xenomorph activity. It seemed they had left after killing everyone.
Thinking this, Bai Ye moved to the other end of the room.
The door was blocked by a corpse, which sat slumped against it.
Without further thought, Bai Ye raised his foot to kick the corpse aside, but at that moment, a bulge appeared on the corpse's chest, swelling visibly like a balloon.
This sudden development startled Bai Ye, and his foot remained suspended in mid-air.
Then…
With a pop!
The corpse's chest suddenly split open, and a large amount of blood mixed with foul-smelling, greenish-yellow fluid sprayed out.
A Xenomorph the size of an arm suddenly burst from the corpse's chest and lunged towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye reacted extremely quickly, leaping to the side. The small Xenomorph grazed Bai Ye's chest and slammed its head against the wall.
After landing, the small Xenomorph shook its head, seemingly dazed by the impact, and then…
Puff!
A playing card flew out and shattered the small Xenomorph's carapace, embedding itself in its back.
"Aao, aao, aao…"
The small Xenomorph cried out in pain, writhing uncontrollably, and then…
Puff, puff, puff!
The sound of air being sliced through echoed continuously as playing cards flew from behind, embedding themselves densely into the small Xenomorph's back.
When the small Xenomorph could no longer stand and was merely struggling on the ground, Bai Ye walked forward, raised his Zanpakuto, and slashed down forcefully.
With a swish, the small Xenomorph was decapitated, its entire head severed by Bai Ye's single strike.
The headless small Xenomorph continued to twitch on the ground for a while before gradually ceasing to move, finally dead.
Xenomorphs are incredibly resilient, but this small Xenomorph was clearly a newly hatched one, and its resilience, however strong, had its limits.
However, due to the appearance of the small Xenomorph, Bai Ye felt that things were gradually becoming more troublesome.
Because, the Xenomorphs had started laying eggs!
This meant that the Xenomorph population would explode!
Indeed, as Bai Ye thought this, he pushed open the door and stepped into the corridor, only to see seven or eight corpses lying strewn about on the ground. Their heads were all covered by an eight-legged bug, and the tail of the bug had a long appendage piercing directly into the corpse's mouth.
Bai Ye squatted down and pulled one of the bugs off. The bug was already dead.
"Facehugger!" Bai Ye murmured, "The Xenomorphs have indeed begun to breed on a large scale."
Facehuggers are the larval stage used by Xenomorphs for reproduction.
In fact, the Xenomorph eggs do not contain Xenomorphs themselves. Instead, they contain facehuggers. Xenomorphs do not hatch directly from eggs; rather, facehuggers hatch, find other living beings to infest, and after a certain period, the facehugger dies, and a juvenile Xenomorph emerges within the host, draining the host's life force. Upon gaining sufficient nutrients, it bursts out of the chest.
The Predalien in Mission Three of the Forbidden Zone was a result of a Predator being infested by a facehugger, thus gestating a Predalien.
Therefore, Bai Ye had anticipated that the Xenomorphs would nest and lay eggs in the research team's base, but even though he had guessed it, he still felt a headache when it actually happened.
One Xenomorph was a completely different concept from a horde of Xenomorphs.
Moreover, this was the reason why the Forbidden Zone mission was to escape the research team's base. If there were only a few Predators or a few Xenomorphs, it wouldn't have caused so many people to flee.
So, the current problem was that the Xenomorphs would use the people entering here to lay eggs and hatch new Xenomorphs. With the Xenomorphs increasing and humans decreasing, not escaping would be a sure death.
Bai Ye pondered as he walked through the corridor. The sliding door ahead opened again, and at this moment…
A dark mass suddenly appeared in front of Bai Ye.
What was happening?
Before Bai Ye could react, he was violently rammed by the dark mass, sending him flying back into the corridor.
This unprovoked attack left Bai Ye bewildered. Lying on the ground, clutching his nose, he recognized the dark mass and was instantly struck with a jolt of fear.
Because, a massive, bloody maw appeared before him, about to bite down on him.
The person who had rammed into him was none other than a Xenomorph!
"Damn it!"
Bai Ye quickly thrust his Zanpakuto into the Xenomorph's mouth, pinning its upper jaw to prevent it from biting him. The Xenomorph struggled continuously, shaking its head and trying to get its jaws on Bai Ye.
After a few seconds of this standoff, suddenly, another dark mass rushed out from the room and leaped high into the air.
Bai Ye looked up and saw that it was a Predator, immediately understanding that the Predator and the Xenomorph must have been fighting in the room, and he had stumbled into the middle of it.
However, what was the meaning of this leaping, dagger-wielding attack?
He was still pinned under the Xenomorph…
Hold on!
…
