The smell was truly unbearable, and Chu Jin was so nauseated that he threw up on the tree.
His vomit was nothing compared to the stench of the giant python; it was like a tiny spark against a raging inferno.
Shang Qi pulled Su Ling’s hand. The python’s roar felt like a gust of wind, and she slipped.
Fortunately, Shang Qi held onto her, or she would have fallen from the ancient tree.
After regaining her footing, Su Ling looked at Shang Qi. “It seems to have its own consciousness and is not under your control.”
Shang Qi grunted, constantly watching the python’s movements. “I’ll try again. You try to shoot fireballs at it. Shoot as many as you can, but prioritize your own safety.”
Su Ling nodded and watched as Shang Qi once again used his ability to control the python.
The enraged python became docile and bewildered once more.
Meanwhile, Su Ling used her Phoenix Fire, launching countless fireballs at the giant python.
The fireballs landed on the python and ignited.
At first, the python seemed unaffected by the burning fireballs; it was still under Shang Qi’s control.
However, when the fireballs completely engulfed its tail, emitting a savory aroma of roasted meat, the intense pain caused the python to break free from Shang Qi’s control.
After escaping Shang Qi’s influence, the python was stunned for a moment before stiffly turning its head to look at its tail.
Due to its immense size, it couldn’t see its tail, but the pain was undeniable.
The python thrashed violently, lashing out at the trees in a desperate attempt to alleviate the burning sensation on its tail.
Shang Qi, meanwhile, had already taken out a rope and tied it to the tree trunk.
Once the rope was securely fastened, he held Su Ling and, gripping the rope, leaped off the tree.
Chu Jin, after getting his own rope, tried to tie it to the tree trunk like Shang Qi but couldn’t manage it.
He then looked at Shang Qi’s rope. Seeing that both of them had already slid down and landed safely, he grabbed Shang Qi’s rope.
After Shang Qi and Su Ling landed, Chu Jin also touched down safely.
Su Ling did not use her Tang sword, as it would be of little help in this situation.
She directly transformed her Phoenix Fire into a bow and arrows, retreating with Shang Qi and Chu Jin.
Once they reached a safe distance, Su Ling raised her bow and aimed at the python’s eye.
With a “whoosh,” an arrow was loosed, its target the python’s crimson eye.
With a “plop,” the arrow found its mark, igniting upon impact.
The python, unable to extinguish the fire on its tail, and now with an arrow in its eye, went into a berserk state. Its uninjured eye locked onto Su Ling and the others as it charged at them like a headless fly.
Su Ling and the others immediately dodged, deliberately leading the python in circles instead of a straight path.
They had observed while on the tree that due to its massive size, the python could only move in a straight line and could not turn.
Turning was too cumbersome and difficult for the giant serpent.
Su Ling’s goal remained the python’s other eye. She dodged the python’s attacks while continuously firing arrows.
Having learned from its previous experience, the python was now fiercely protective of its remaining undamaged eye.
Only Su Ling’s first arrow was successful; the subsequent ones missed, hitting the python’s body instead of its eye.
However, these arrows were still enough to cause significant damage to the python.
After all, it was Phoenix Fire, guided by Su Ling’s will. Once it ignited something, it would not extinguish unless Su Ling commanded it to, burning its target to ashes!
