They would be nothing more than a mouthful if they stood before this colossal python.
But Chu Jin knew that judging by the python's direction and speed, running down would not help.
They couldn't outrun the python's movement speed, and even if they ran down the mountain, the python would chase them.
By then, the others responsible for transporting supplies at the foot of the mountain would also be in danger.
It was obvious that the python was not disturbed and attracted by them; it had been moving long before they arrived.
He wondered how many survivors had perished along the way, how many city buildings and forests had been destroyed.
This was truly unbelievable. Was such a massive snake also a mutation from the apocalypse?
But how could it be so big!
Chu Jin couldn't comprehend it. He was already panting from exhaustion.
He had long since taken off his sunglasses and discarded them in the roadside grass. Sweat dripped from his head. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't catch up to Shang Qi, who was carrying Su Ling.
He felt Shang Qi was outrageously strong. He was almost finished just running this stretch alone.
And Shang Qi?
Carrying Su Ling, Shang Qi moved with incredible speed, showing no signs of fatigue.
Chu Jin couldn't think anymore. He was gritting his teeth and running for his life.
Because he could already smell the viscous, foul odor in the air. With every breath, his lungs were filled with it, utterly disgusting.
It was as if a rotten, foul-smelling mouth was right in front of him, exhaling directly into his nose.
Chu Jin knew they couldn't run anymore; the python was very close.
Shang Qi, carrying Su Ling, looked back at Chu Jin and said, "Change direction, don't run in a straight line."
After saying this, Shang Qi, carrying Su Ling, immediately changed course.
Before Chu Jin could respond, he saw Shang Qi suddenly turn with Su Ling in his arms. He hurriedly followed, trailing behind them.
Shang Qi, having carried Su Ling for a while, estimated the distance between them and the python, then stopped. He looked at Su Ling and said, "Hold on tight."
With that, Shang Qi changed his grip to carry Su Ling on his back and then climbed a centuries-old large tree.
Su Ling's own abilities meant she didn't need Shang Qi to be so cautious and protective.
But Shang Qi was willing, and within the scope of his ability, Su Ling chose to go along with it.
Seeing Shang Qi climb the tree nimbly, Chu Jin dared not linger at the base and quickly climbed up as well.
After the three of them climbed the tree, they hid among the canopy, concealing their presence. Su Ling and Shang Qi used binoculars to scan the distance.
Through the binoculars, they saw distant trees falling in large swathes. The once lush, endless mountains were no longer verdant; only a desolate, bare landscape remained.
Trees fell in masses, layer upon layer. On top of the fallen trees, something huge was wriggling. A single sweep of its tail shaved off half a mountainside!
Su Ling couldn't watch anymore. She tossed the binoculars into her portable space and looked at Shang Qi. "It's a century-old giant python, very difficult to deal with. Let's discuss a strategy."
If this python was not eliminated, it would continue to wreak havoc. If it mutated further in the future, it would be truly impossible to handle!
Chu Jin, leaning against the tree and catching his breath, looked at Su Ling in shock upon hearing her words. "Can the three of us handle it? This giant python..."
Swallowing hard, Chu Jin wiped the sweat from his brow and continued, "It's too big. Its lethality and destructive power are immense. It will be really tough for us to deal with. I'm afraid we won't be able to handle it and will end up as its appetizers!"
