Fearing she would be left behind, alone to leave the castle, she shamelessly stepped forward.
Xu Yan stepped forward shamelessly, feeling no issue whatsoever. She looked at Su Ling, "If they don't want to leave, then I won't either. I want to stay, so I'll live in the apartment building then."
Hearing Xu Yan's implication that staying in the apartment building was a hardship for her.
Su Ling was not one to indulge such behavior. She looked at Xu Yan, "If you want to stay, I don't want you here."
"How dare you!" Xu Yan glared at Su Ling, her eyes full of anger.
Lin Enxin, hands in her pockets, looked at the self-unaware Xu Yan and scoffed, "You really don't know your place, or lack foresight. This is Sister Ling's castle. Do you think she dares not to?"
"To put it bluntly, even if she ordered us to throw you out to the zombies today, we would follow her orders without question and wouldn't think there was any problem with her decision. People like you, you're taken in out of kindness, yet you stir up trouble. Do you deserve to die?"
Xu Yan had thought the castle belonged to Shang Qi. Hearing Lin Enxin's words, she was startled and her gaze snapped towards Su Ling.
"You mean—" Xu Yan looked at Lin Enxin, swallowing hard as she formulated her words, "This ridiculously large castle, it's hers?"
Lin Enxin smiled coldly, not answering Xu Yan, letting everything speak for itself.
Upon learning the truth, Xu Yan instantly deflated like a wilted eggplant, only now realizing how utterly foolish she had been.
Even Zhou Tingna was astonished.
She had indeed thought Su Ling was capable, but she hadn't anticipated her being this capable.
Such a massive castle, she had assumed it belonged to that cold, frosty man, only to find out it was Su Ling's.
So, they had been wrong from the very beginning, terribly wrong.
To think that Su Ling was merely the pampered pet of that cold man was utterly ridiculous.
This was the apocalypse, after all. Women were the cheapest commodity.
It wasn't that she looked down on women; rather, this group of people was the living proof, a bloody example.
Su Ling looked at Zhou Tingna and the others, then issued a final warning to everyone, "I don't keep useless people here. This is the last time. If anyone causes trouble again, I'll send you back to the prison district to fend for yourselves."
With that, Su Ling looked at Bai Heqing, "Take them to settle in."
Bai Heqing looked at Su Ling, then brought her index and middle fingers together to her temple, drawing a line forward, before turning to Zhou Tingna and the others, "Wait for me, I'll show you to your new accommodations."
Xu Yan, thinking she had narrowly escaped, mingled with the crowd, preparing to leave.
"You, come out."
However, Xu Yan didn't manage to blend in. As she passed in front of Su Ling, she was called out by name.
Xu Yan being singled out by Su Ling made her face turn instantly pale. Gritting her teeth, she bit her lip and stepped out of the group.
The others were unaffected, continuing on their way, following Bai Heqing and the others.
Seeing no one speak up for her, Xu Yan bit her lip, her eyes red as she looked at Su Ling. Before anyone could speak, she was the first to speak, "I'm sorry. I apologize for my previous actions. Please don't send me away. I'm willing to cook, wash dishes, and do laundry. I'll contribute my labor to the best of my ability."
Su Ling remained unmoved by Xu Yan's apology.
Xu Yan truly regretted her actions. If she had known Su Ling was this formidable, she would never have caused trouble.
Now, she had played the villain and ended up in a mess with no one to help her.
Seeing that Su Ling seemed unwilling to let her off the hook, Xu Yan gritted her teeth and, bending her knees, knelt before Su Ling.
