Chapter 175 The Priestess

"What is he even talking about?" Duan Chen Chen Jiaxin pondered, the last words Wu Suowei told him making no sense at all.

He eventually gave up.

First, he stored the special distress call card into his spatial ring, then picked up the box of white cards with Tarot cards on their backs.

Recalling that Wu Suowei had told him to draw one before leaving.

Duan Chen, out of curiosity, drew a card.

"The Fool?" The first card drawn was 0.

The Fool.

What did this mean?

Duan Chen didn't understand.

This card was in full color.

The second card he drew was The Magician.

The Magician, below The Fool, represented one.

But unfortunately, for some reason, this Magician card was gray and white, with only a red speck of light in the corner.

The third card was The High Priestess.

This High Priestess card in Duan Chen's hand flickered.

As if about to break away.

Just then, a hand suddenly reached out from beside Duan Chen and took the flickering High Priestess from his hand.

He heard a confused voice.

"What is this thing?"

Duan Chen looked up and saw Hill, who had appeared beside him at some unknown time.

When the High Priestess card was held by Hill, it suddenly stopped flickering, and its color stabilized.

Hill looked at the card with confusion in her eyes.

A flash of inspiration struck Duan Chen, and he suddenly asked, "Do you feel anything bad about it?"

Hill shook her head.

Her brilliant golden hair cascaded down from her ear.

She held the card with her slender fingers, a hint of bewilderment on her face.

"I don't feel anything bad about it, but I somehow feel a sense of closeness to this card. Is this one of your abilities?"

"Something like charm."

Of course not.

Duan Chen scrutinized Hill, then looked at the High Priestess in her hand.

Then he looked back at The Fool in his own hand.

He felt like he had grasped something, yet at the same time, he hadn't.

"This is one of my weapons," Duan Chen said, defining his cards as weapons, but without mentioning the "natal" aspect.

Two natal weapons might be too astonishing.

Although he disliked playing the underdog, he also didn't want to stand out too much.

Hill instinctively understood Duan Chen to mean a backup weapon and looked at him with a hint of panic, "Then will it be bad for me to hold it?"

Duan Chen hesitated and shook his head.

"In fact, I'm not quite sure what this deck of cards is for. As you saw, in my hands, this card kept flickering."

"But in your hands, it seems to have been stabilized and returned to normal."

Hill's eyes widened cutely, revealing her immense curiosity.

"Is it that interesting?"

She handed the High Priestess card back to Duan Chen. Indeed, the High Priestess card, which had been steadily emitting colorful light in her hands, began to flicker unstably again when Duan Chen held it.

Duan Chen returned the High Priestess to Hill.

The flickering of the card ceased again.

"I have another card here," he suddenly said, holding The Fool, the first card he'd drawn, between two fingers.

"This card is stable and colorful in my hands."

He tentatively placed the Fool card into Hill's hand, but the moment he did, Hill cried out in pain.

"It hurts so much!"

The Fool card fell to the ground, and Hill, clutching her delicate palm, looked at the Fool card that Duan Chen had tried to hand her with disbelief.

"Why did I feel such a painful burning sensation?"

She couldn't hold the Fool card like she could The High Priestess.

The moment the card's surface touched her palm, she felt unbearable pain.

Duan Chen picked up the Fool card from the ground, lost in thought.

He felt no discomfort whatsoever.

Perhaps…

A thought occurred to him.

Perhaps that card didn't originally belong to him.

Although it sounded strange, that it was his natal weapon yet had a card that didn't belong to him, to be honest, he himself wasn't even sure how to use this natal weapon.

Is it possible that this natal weapon needs to be shared to be used?

Duan Chen's mind raced with various thoughts.

He couldn't help but cast his gaze towards the other cards. If The Fool corresponded to him, and The High Priestess corresponded to Hill, then perhaps the other cards also had corresponding people?

However, unfortunately, no matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn't think of anyone else who fit the positions of these cards, nor could he draw any other shimmering cards.

Some cards, though drawn, were either gray and white or only partially colored. He didn't know why they were like this.

"What does it all mean?" Hill looked at Duan Chen, not quite understanding. She seemed to have grasped something, but the possibility she had conceived felt too outrageous.

What she understood was that perhaps this card was meant to be distributed among different people, serving as an auxiliary or communication tool.

But then she remembered that Duan Chen had said from the beginning that it was a weapon. How could a weapon be like this?

Duan Chen shook his head.

"It's nothing. Why don't you keep this card for now? There won't be any problems."

"I'm not using this deck of cards as my natal weapon."

He didn't intend to reveal that he had two natal weapons.

Moreover, he still didn't know how to use this deck of cards.

Wu Suowei had left with those two sentences and departed.

Who knew how to use them?

Hill, somewhat dazed, put away the card and then brought up another matter, "Since that's the case, I'll keep it for safekeeping. You can ask me for it when you need it."

"Oh, right. There's something I need to discuss with you. Regarding these strange samples, can you get me more samples for my analysis? These are too few to fully determine what's going on."

So that was it.

Duan Chen nodded.

"Of course."

"That's great!" Hill clasped her hands together, her face radiating innocence.

"Then I'll be looking forward to it."

Duan Chen looked at her with a doting smile.

Honestly, if one truly interacted with Hill, they would find her to be a genuinely innocent and naive girl.

Even Mi Xue'er was less innocent than her.

Duan Chen could easily develop a good rapport with such a girl, and interacting with her was quite relaxing.

He agreed.
