Chapter 225: Elemental Class
"Today, the Element Bloodline is often associated with humans," the professor began, "even though, in the beginning, it belonged solely to dragons, each born with their own unique traits.
One day, when humans grew tired of their weakness, they sought out the Dragon Lord to ask for strength. At that time, the Dragon Lord was the most powerful being in existence, master of all elements.
"Seeing the determination of humankind, the Dragon Lord granted them elemental power. That gift became the foundation of what we now call the Element Bloodline, the elemental inheritance possessed by humans today."
Gara nodded slowly. Lessons like this didn’t feel boring at all, more like listening to a legend from another world.
But when the topic of dragons came up, Gara couldn’t help but think of Ares. According to his status panel, Ares was a Fire Dragon.
If the Dragon Lord in ancient times could wield every element, then maybe Ares could also gain more Bloodlines in the future...
After the lecture that sounded more like a myth than a history lesson, the class was dismissed.
Gara glanced around the room.
Most of the students here were human, just like the professor said, Bloodline Elements had become humanity’s legacy.
It was the first time Gara had ever joined a class filled with this many humans.
He’d always thought humans were rare in the academy, but now, seeing so many gathered here, he realized—
Humans might not be the strongest race, but they possessed something far more dangerous: their minds.
And not every race could match the brilliance of human intelligence.
...
The next day, his first class was Herbalist Class.
Gara had already finished the assignment Professor Aura gave them.
When he entered the room, the atmosphere felt familiar. Everyone was busy with their own tasks, chatting quietly with their friends.
Gara sat down at his usual seat and glanced toward the back shelf, where a Druid student was standing there.
"I wanted to check the cabinet myself... but with that Druid there, I wouldn’t dare."
Sighing, Gara turned back to the front and decided to focus instead on drafting a new product plan for Alrova.
Moments later, Professor Aura arrived. Her small frame didn’t quite match the magnanimous presence Gara felt from her.
"Last week, I gave you all a task," she said, looking around the class. "So, tell me, have you figured out the use of Niskara?"
The whole class answered with eager enthusiasm, especially Vania and her little entourage sitting up front.
Ever since her defeat in the Offense Class, her reputation had taken a nosedive. Some beastfolk from elite clans began to distance themselves; others still stayed around, but their loyalty was no longer the same.
The only ones who remained devoted to Vania were beastfolk from weaker clans, those who hoped to gain protection by sticking close to her.
At the front of the room, Aura’s gaze swept across the class, calm yet piercing.
Her eyes stopped on one person. "Gara," she said. "How about you read your assignment for us?"
Gara hadn’t anticipated that the professor would call his name. He knew, however, that he had made quite an impression in front of this very professor last week.
He stood from his seat and began to speak, presenting without reading because all the information about Niskara plant was already in his head.
"...In addition, another specific benefit of Niskara is for Liners— it’s capable of increasing stamina."
Finishing his presentation, he returned to his seat. The class remained silent, not a sound could be heard.
Until a familiar chuckle reached his ears. Vania.
He didn’t want to look at that tigress, focusing solely on Professor Aura, who seemed quite preoccupied with her thoughts.
The half-Dwarf Professor’s mind only returned to the present when murmuring began to spread around the class.
The students were enthusiastically chatting about Gara’s answer, though mocking him was the intended effect.
Last week, Vania had been intensely shut down due to her lack of knowledge. Now, she kept her voice down, not barking like a dog, but she still accused aggressively.
"Getting an Herbalist title must be just a joke for a certain person. Because of his title, he thinks he can say whatever he wants."
Gara didn’t care about Vania’s accusation at all. In fact, he wanted to see if the professor would react the same way or if she would catch his hint.
Aura slowly walked over to Gara. "Gara, can you explain that in more detail?"
Her expression was serious; she didn’t find Gara’s statement funny or a joke. And again, Vania knew she had lost.
Sulking in her seat, she could only watch as Gara and Professor Aura discussed a part of Niskara that she didn’t understand at all.
But the longer she stared at the pretty young man, she felt something shift...
Like his face was suddenly glowing, his black hair shimmering under the light, his thin lips parting to speak, looking incredibly handsome—
"Crazy!" Vania snapped to herself.
But she forgot to control her voice, and now, every person in the class looked at her with a judging look.
"An ant! An ant bit me!" Vania stammered, making a ridiculous excuse.
The students’ heads turned away again, no longer focused on her, and she began to curse herself internally.
Meanwhile, Aura stopped the discussion, remembering that she was still in a class with other students.
"Class, now, hand in your assignments," she instructed. "Gara will get the perfect score, and I hope when I check your scores, I’ll see another perfect score."
Her statement clearly meant that Gara’s explanation was no joke. In just two sessions, Gara had proven that he was a truly talented Herbalist.
Coupled with the rumors about Gara and Vania’s previous confrontations in other classes, the classmates knew they had to choose a side.
In a different class, they might not have immediately chosen Gara.
But for the Herbalist Class, where Vania’s lack of knowledge had been publicly exposed twice—
there was no better option than to align themselves with Gara.
