Chapter 348: Chapter 347: Do I Remember Him? (7)
"So, this impatient?"
His throat felt as if something was stuck in it, an overwhelming bitterness surged up to his heart. His thin lips moved slightly, and his voice, nearly silent, was so light that it was blown away by the wind as soon as it left his mouth.
Dong Xin Yan didn’t catch what he said and couldn’t help but ask, "What?"
Gu Ningyi didn’t speak anymore. He turned his face towards the car window, remained silent for a while, then said in a deep voice, "Stop the car."
The car stopped by a café on the roadside. Gu Ningyi got out of the car directly, with long strides heading towards the café. Dong Xin Yan stared at his back for a few seconds, sighed helplessly, and had to follow him out of the car.
Suddenly stepping out from the heated car, the chill outside was biting. Dong Xin Yan couldn’t help but shiver all over and then sneezed.
Gu Ningyi abruptly halted his steps, then suddenly turned around, striding towards her with a tall and imposing presence.
Dong Xin Yan didn’t know what he intended to do, and instinctively felt a bit afraid. However, he stopped right in front of her.
Then, he raised his hand, slowly untied the long scarf wrapped around his neck, took it in his hands, and circled it around her neck, wrapping it snugly around her. After that, he took off the coat he was wearing, lifted Dong Xin Yan’s hand, and helped her wear it bit by bit, carefully tidying it up in the end.
His actions were gentle and meticulous.
The coldness on her body was immediately enveloped with warmth from the coat and scarf. Even so, Dong Xin Yan stood frozen in place, her dark eyes wide open, looking at him in a daze, as if she were utterly dumbfounded.
Was that person just now... Gu Ningyi? The cold and ruthless Gu Ningyi?
How could he be... so gentle? So gentlemanly? So considerate? And towards her?
Could it be that the cold had caused her to hallucinate?
After arranging the scarf properly, Gu Ningyi glanced at her frostbitten, pale hands. His fingers twitched slightly, wanting to hold her hand, but remembering her guardedness and resistance, he eventually clenched his fist.
He spoke softly, "Let’s go inside."
Inside the café, the heating was turned up high, but Dong Xin Yan felt that her frozen brain had not yet thawed, preventing her from comprehending Gu Ningyi’s actions earlier.
The waiter came to take their order, and Gu Ningyi ordered a cup of coffee. Seeing Dong Xin Yan still in a daze, he directly ordered her a cup of ginger tea.
As soon as the ginger tea was served, Dong Xin Yan didn’t care that it was hot and picked it up with both hands, taking big gulps.
The warmth of the ginger tea entered her stomach, gradually thawing her stiff brain, but Dong Xin Yan’s heart started to pound wildly, not out of excitement, but out of fear...
She recalled the look in Gu Ningyi’s eyes when he helped her dress. So tender, so lovingly indulgent. She wasn’t stupid; she could sense that something was unusual.
A man wouldn’t be gentle with a woman, be good to a woman for no reason.
Yet she dared not ask, afraid that Gu Ningyi would say something she couldn’t bear to hear.
She took a light breath, forcibly suppressing her unease and discomfort, lightly coughed, and spoke, "Mr. Gu, can you tell me why you wanted to see me?"
Gu Ningyi elegantly crossed his long legs, leaned slightly backward against the sofa, tapping lightly on his knee with slender fingers. His dark eyes fixedly looked at her, his thin lips moved slightly, "When you were eighteen, two months after the college entrance exams, what were you doing?"
