Chapter 239: Chapter 239
At that moment, hearing what Lovi just said, Malisa gently nodded her head, her face still calm but firm. "Good," she replied softly, yet with a tone that carried weight. She reached into her black leather handbag and brought out a sleek cheque booklet. Without hesitation, she flipped it open and began writing. Her pen moved with quiet confidence as she filled in the amount. Once done, she signed it swiftly and passed it over to Cora.
Cora, who had remained silent up until that moment, took the cheque and also signed her part, sealing the deal. Then she extended the cheque toward Lovi, who was watching them with careful, calculating eyes.
He reached out and collected the cheque without a single word, but Malisa and Cora could tell that Lovi’s mind was working fast he was already thinking five steps ahead. Still, the fact that he accepted it without any further resistance meant that he had fully committed himself now, whether he liked it or not.
There was a pause. No one spoke for a few seconds. The tension in the air loosened just a little.
Cora then folded her arms gently on the table, leaned forward slightly, and said in a steady voice, "Now that the first business has been sorted, then we should actually kick off this new one."
Lovi sat back in his chair, adjusting himself a little. A smirk played on the corner of his lips, but his tone was controlled. "Well," he said slowly, his voice laced with curiosity, "I am kind of curious... knowing what Cora actually has for me."
At that moment, Cora folded her hands on the table and looked directly at Lovie. Her voice was calm but firm, "First of all, I want to say you did very well informing me about what’s actually going on in ZXZ. What you saw James doing... that was something I wasn’t expecting, and I have to thank you, Lovi."
Lovi leaned back in his chair again with a light smile on his face, brushing it off as if it was nothing. "Well, it’s not really a big deal," he said, casually. "You gave me a job, and I saw something that could mess up everything. It only made sense to report it. That’s what I was paid to do, after all."
Cora raised a brow slightly. "Even if it was small, it meant something to me."
Malisa nodded in agreement, but remained silent, letting Cora take the lead.
"So," Lovi said, adjusting himself a little forward, "what is it this time? I can tell it’s serious. Let me guess you want to pull someone else out of the shadows?"
Cora nodded. "Yes, something like that. This time... it’s about someone called Mr. B."
Lovi frowned slightly. "Mr. B?"
"Yes," she said, leaning in slightly. "According to our documents, Mr. B owns 30% of ZXZ’s shares. That’s not a small amount. In fact, that’s a massive chunk. But the strange thing is... nobody really knows who he is. Not me. Not even the board. It’s almost as if he exists on paper only."
Lovi’s face shifted into a more focused expression as she continued. "I’m very, very curious about this. We’ve looked through different records. Nothing. Even the payment trail goes through layers of shell companies. But you." she pointed lightly toward him, "you have a knack for digging. I want you to find out who Mr. B is. Everything. Where he lives. How he got the shares. What he’s planning. And most importantly... if he’s someone we should be worried about."
At that moment, hearing what Cora just said, Lovi slowly raise his brows and ask with a straight face, "So... you want me to find out who Mr. B is?"
Cora didn’t flinch. She nodded firmly. "Yes. Is that too much to ask? Or are you backing out now?" Her tone was cool, but the sharpness behind her eyes said she wasn’t playing around.
Lovi’s lips curved into a calm, confident smile. He leaned slightly forward in his seat, then said in a casual tone, "That’s child’s play for me. You’re saying this Mr. B holds 30% shares in ZXZ?"
Cora nodded again, confirming. "Yes. According to the internal reports, cross-checked data, and everything our team has gathered so far, someone with the initial ’B’ owns 30% of the shares. But his identity? Completely hidden."
Malisa, who had been quiet, leaned in just a little with curiosity on her face, watching Lovi closely.
Lovi rubbed his chin for a second, then relaxed back in his seat and gave a little nod. "No problem. I’ll look into it. I’ll find this mysterious Mr. B for you. You’ll have his identity soon."
But even as those words left his mouth, deep inside him, something twisted. A sharp jab of anger pulsed in his chest. Mr. B? Thirty percent?
That was supposed to be his move. That was his plan from the beginning to silently get a powerful stake in ZXZ without anyone noticing. He had been laying groundwork slowly, playing it smart. And now, from nowhere, someone else had already made that exact play. From the shadows. Quiet. Smart. Fast.
His jaw clenched slightly as he kept his smile on the outside. Just imagine, he thought. Just imagine some lowlife bastard sneaking in and doing exactly what I planned to do. The more he thought about it, the more his hands started itching to find this Mr. B. Not for Cora. Not for Malisa. But for himself.
He needed to know who this ghost was.
Because whoever dared steal the move he had been cooking up...
Was going to regret it.
At that moment, Malisa leaned in with her arms folded slightly, eyes fixed on Lovie, and asked with a serious tone, "Will you be able to do it? And how long is it going to take? We really need this handled as soon as possible."
Lovi, without missing a beat, gently smiled and responded calmly, "Yes, I’ll be able to do it. It’s not something complicated for me. In fact, it’s a very easy job. I just need access to a few channels, pull some strings here and there, and in less than 24 hours, you’ll have the full details on Mr. B every single thing you need."
