Chapter 625: The leaders are coming
She quickly caught up with Envoy-2, who had entered before her, and followed him closely, hiding between the hallway and its small bumps.
The man never noticed that someone was following him, and the tunnel gradually grew larger until it reached an area inside a building. The tunnel ended at a door.
Envoy-2 knocked on it a few times, and it opened after confirming his identity. On the other side, several people of high status were gathered.
Sophia made sure to see how the door opened; it was nothing special. On the other side, it had a lock with inscriptions, which could be activated from this side if you knew how to open it.
And that was no challenge for her. The moment she saw the future of the person who had opened the door, she could see how they had locked it, so, since it was a padlock, she just had to do exactly the opposite to open it.
Soon, she was alone in the tunnel, and the door closed.
Through the small window in the door, she could see that the room on the other side was underground and the people inside were of high rank.
Some nobles, a Bloody Vampire General, and several high-ranking officials of the Kingdom. Among them was a face familiar to her, as it was the Royal Strategist, the right-hand man of the King.
’So this is the main room. The rooms upstairs are just facades.’ She nodded and tried to listen to what they were saying, but quickly grew bored.
What they were saying was nonsense, like: Murphy is alone... They are weakened... We should attack them with all our strength...
Then the strategist proceeded to tell them how to do it, nothing of value to her at the moment, but the strategist was putting together a good battle plan.
’That way they could really hurt us, but planning to fight alone doesn’t seem very smart. At the end of the day, we’re still a Vampire Clan, even if we’re a little weakened. Exterminating a Kingdom is so easy for us, I’m surprised they can’t see that.’
She had been worried that there might be powerful people in the room. People from the Central City or from those new forces that had emerged, but there was no one, for now. This was the perfect opportunity.
But just as she was about to enter, Envoy-2 was allowed to speak, and he began with words that caught her attention.
"Gentlemen, the King has sent an edict saying that you may attack at any moment, because ’The Dear Leader’ is on his way. It seems they have encountered problems recently, because one of the Dear Leaders was killed by someone unknown, presumably a powerful Devourer, as the silhouette of the killer was that of a woman."
"A woman killed a Dear Leader? It could be..."
"Yes, it’s likely to be that legendary woman. That’s why they haven’t been able to come recently, as they sent someone to hold them back. But reinforcements from the Pillar Clan are on their way, and they are powerful, perhaps two or three Dear Leaders. That is why the King has asked us to act according to the Strategist’s plan, so that when they come, we only have to wipe out the Murphy bastards."
Their eyes sparkled with excitement, but Sophia’s, listening from the side, darkened.
Her body trembled slightly, not out of fear but anger. One of those coming... Perhaps it was the bastard who had left her father in such a state.
’Soon, I will settle this debt, you bastard. For now, let me delay your plans.’ Immediately, she opened the magic lock on the door, which swung open inward.
Everyone turned around immediately, in shock.
"What the hell? Who is that?" Everyone stood up abruptly, alarmed.
Then, behind the door, a beautiful, well-dressed woman appeared, letting her black cloak fall to the ground.
Her exposed body caused everyone present to take a step back in shock.
"Sophia Murphy!" they shouted.
The two most powerful, the Bloody Vampire General and the Army Admiral, stepped forward, summoning their weapons to attack. A sword and an axe, respectively.
While the strategist tried to flee through the far door.
But then Sophia’s figure seemed to disappear in front of them and appear right in front of the Strategist.
"A strategist admired by the masses, the Great Royal Strategist of the Blacksmith Kingdom, who is said to be behind the recent great strides of the Blacksmith Kingdom. They even say that, in a war, he could match Reagan Cooper. Hehe, I’ve seen you today, you’ve been overestimated." Her sword glinted in the artificial light and the blood that soon emerged from the strategist’s headless body.
The key piece of the plan was dead.
After killing him, she glanced back slightly and stepped to the side, just in time to dodge one of her enemies’ attacks, then leaped forward to dodge a second attack coming from the front.
She hadn’t even turned around and managed to dodge the two most powerful ones, but the others were no slouches; they all had some power.
’They say Sophia Murphy isn’t all that powerful,’ thought one of the generals as he approached dangerously from a blind spot. As an assassin, he could launch accurate attacks very quickly. In addition, he had extensive combat experience; he wasn’t a great general of a kingdom for nothing.
That’s why his attack was dangerous and full of murderous intent.
’Although her ability to see the future is dangerous, how could she see it so quickly in combat? Besides, with my attack speed, I’m afraid that before she can see it, she’ll already have my daggers stuck in her neck.’
He came from her blind spot, behind her on the right, and managed to get close enough to find the perfect moment to attack.
His attack came just a second after she had dodged, leaving her in her most vulnerable state. Because of this, he felt completely confident and attacked the woman’s bare neck.
’Die!’ A sinister smile spread across his face as the dagger approached her neck and...
He couldn’t find the intended target. Instead, Sophia’s face appeared from the side. "Too slow." Her indifferent words hadn’t even finished echoing in her opponent’s mind when her sword pierced him, killing him in one motion.
In the same movement, she lunged at the admiral, who had attacked her from above with his axe.
He had just fallen to the ground and was stabilizing his body when a sword pierced his heart.
"Many badges of recognition and many decorations on your uniform, but at the end of the day, what are you against a Vampire Clan? Heh heh, your kingdom is trash, little Admiral. And soon I will prove it to the world."
Her heart burst in a stab, but the Bloody Vampire General had been quick. He managed to get behind her and swung his sword with great power.
"It has never been seen that a Bloody Vampire General kills an Heir. It seems that today will be the day," he exclaimed, mocking her for letting her guard down in front of him.
