Chapter 618: Without Time

Chapter 618: Without Time

Although Isla was thoughtful, she didn’t ask any more questions about it.

"The way curses are used has improved, too. Look." She said, grabbing one of the books and showing it to him.

Matthew nodded. "I had noticed that before, but these improvements are amazing. So now they’re called Curse Spells, huh. Interesting."

"Do you think we could use them?"

"Yes, we can. Many of these spells are engraved in my mind since they were born from me. Besides, with access to the Library, we should have access to many of those spells that I don’t know, but that can be used to teach the girls."

"I understand, I’ll let them know. But we have a small problem."

"Time, right?"

"Yes, there’s not much time left before the Divine City opens, and then the Heirs will have to fight."

"That will be the perfect stage for those guys. The fight at that moment will be the biggest this side of the world has seen in recent years." Matthew smiled softly. "And we will be part of it," he declared.

Isla smiled.

"With the owner of the Divine City here, I should say we won’t have any problems. But time is unpredictable, so I’m going to prepare myself properly."

"Haha, we all need to prepare properly for when the time comes. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy battle," he said.

After reading several books, he looked at Isla.

"How’s the restructuring of the Kingdom going? I think it’s about time we set our sights on Sophia."

"We can do it anytime. We’ve been waiting."

Matthew nodded and took some documents out of his storage ring.

"Get these documents to Mr. Paul. The investigation has progressed, I have a general idea of what we’ll do, and he needs to know, as I’ll need his help once again. Also, tell him that the weapons we ordered must be delivered as soon as possible."

Isla nodded. "Are we moving again?"

"Yes. It will be a big move this time."

"Is that why Charlotte is still here?"

"You guessed right."

Isla nodded. "That person I saw that day, protecting the altar, I think they were from the other side. They used a lot of tricks and a spell to escape, possibly teleportation. I think there are more of them than have been revealed so far, possibly many more. So we need to be careful."

"I know," Matthew replied. "I’ll take into account all possible variations within the plan. But you must obey whatever orders you receive from me, understand? It doesn’t matter if I tell you to advance or retreat. The moment I give an order, it must be carried out. The plan covers everything. Charlotte and I have worked very hard to make this happen."

"Alright, I’ll let all the girls know."

"Thanks, go ahead. I’m going to meet with Charlotte to discuss a few things."

"See you later."

After that, they both said goodbye. Matthew grabbed all the books and other research that the girls had done and quickly left.

...

Over the past few weeks, Sophia Murphy has had extremely busy days.

Between leading the clan and the little ones, plus the new front opened by the Murphys and their allies, Sophia finally understood the responsibility of being a leader.

After understanding this, her father earned even more respect, and it was only the beginning.

This was also because she was doing more than she normally would, as she had opened up a new front, and this required keeping it active.

She wasn’t fighting against stupid humans or mindless devourers; right now, she was fighting against her own race and against clans whose power was above that of the Murphy Clan.

Because of this, her face looked more haggard with each passing day, but today looked like it would be worse.

At that moment, she was standing on a hill, with the leaders of the Murphy Clan behind her.

"I couldn’t have foreseen it," she said, sighing helplessly.

"The power is too great, Lady. It’s normal, and you don’t need to feel overwhelmed by it."

She clenched her teeth as she looked down at the city in flames below her.

"The Blacksmith Kingdom is supporting them, isn’t it?"

"Yes. Because of that, we can’t compete in manpower or wealth. The Blacksmith Kingdom has too much monetary power and too many allies. They may even have spies here, since both royal families have affiliations."

Sophia frowned. "Damn traitors," she muttered, clenching her hand, but she knew she had to calm down.

"How are things going on Matthew’s side?"

"My lady, the news has been confirmed. The Becker Clan was wiped out by Young Master Dietrich and the Allen Clan. Apparently, it was a joint move with several Independent Clans that no one expected. According to rumors, it was Young Master himself who killed Leader Becker."

"That’s very good news." Sophia’s eyes sparkled brightly, and she finally smiled.

"But..." Then a voice came from another of her subordinates, so she turned to look at him.

"If you’re going to say something, finish saying it," she demanded.

"I’m sorry, Lady." he said apologetically, then continued. "I heard that Matthew and the Allens left town. They left Becker City and all that large territory at the mercy of mafias or something similar. I don’t know if that’s a good decision."

Sophia shrugged. "If he withdrew, then it was a good decision. I’ve been analyzing that city since we got the news, and I feel like it’s too easy a target, difficult to protect. Maybe that’s why they withdrew."

"An easy target?" Several of them suddenly realized. "I see, it’s because it’s surrounded by different territories of the kingdoms, which those bastards control."

Their eyes lit up when they realized what was happening; they seemed to have discovered something amazing, but Sophia didn’t care.

"I think we should attack with everything we’ve got. My territory isn’t far from the Clan’s territory, so we could use the terrain to our advantage for a massive attack, trying to flush out the powerful bastards who want to remain hidden."

"Lady, there would be a problem with that. The Allens will surely want to rescue Jack, I’m afraid..."

"That doesn’t matter. Matthew’s words are worth more; he assured me he would help me. I trust those words. Besides, we have some unexpected allies who have given me some information. We can use it to buy time. If we just wait for their attacks, this situation will not be reversed, and we will continue to lose cities, because I cannot predict those bastards, as they have far superior power and use people I have never seen before."

"But..."

"Even though my father didn’t say a word, I’m pretty sure he would leave me and my brother in charge of this." She interrupted him and looked at them. "We both agree on an attack at this point. So we’ll do it. Do you understand?"

All of them were far more powerful than Sophia, even the ancestors from two generations prior were among them, but they still felt a slight oppression coming from Sophia’s body.

In the end, they nodded in agreement.

"We’ll do it."

She smiled then. "Let’s go back, and I’ll tell you about the plan. Being passive isn’t my style."
