Chapter 677: Mud Puppets (I)
"And you believe that you can do it on your own?"
Bai Meiyue was speechless. She looked at the man who was prepared to throw everything away and couldn’t understand what was going on in his head. Was the life that he was living now not good enough? Why does he need to cause trouble for no reason? Was there a need to create such a ruckus when he was living a good life? He could have just lived silently instead of coming out of the shadows like this.
"Who said that he is alone?" The remaining five men stepped out of the several corners. With guns in their hands, they aimed at Bai Meiyue, Liu Che and Meng Qibao. "With us here, do you think you can win against our boss? As long as you make a move, we will fucking shoot you." The man with a mohawk spoke with a sneer. He looked at their rivals and was confident that they would be able to defeat these bastards with ease.
Bai Meiyue was pregnant, and the two men standing beside her were young with a hint of innocence on their faces; certainly, they wouldn’t be able to be of much help. In their eyes, these two men were still wet behind their ears and couldn’t do much.
When Liu Che saw that these people were looking down at them, he narrowed his eyes and almost laughed out loud. This person was really interesting; he was actually looking down at him. Does he know that he, Liu Che, was the one whose terrifying fame had scattered all over the city, and no one dared to cause trouble for him? If they saw him walking down the lane, they would change their paths right away, as they were worried that he would kill them if they rubbed him the wrong way.
And yet these men were foolish enough to stare at him like he was a young man who was wet behind his ears? They need to get their eyes checked, honestly!
Even Meng Qibao’s brows couldn’t help but twitch when he saw the contempt in the eyes of the five men. He knew that he didn’t look like he was that big of a deal, but what was with that gaze? How could these people look at him as if he were an ant they could squash at any moment? They had to be kidding him.
"Oh, alright." Bai Meiyue knew that it would be a waste to talk with these men. She obviously didn’t want to bother with these men, but they came looking for her like a third-grade villain of a really poorly made movie. She sighed and crossed her arms over her bosom. "I am a little tired. If you want to kill me, just do it. I promise I will not make a move."
When the thugs heard her words, they were stunned. They looked at Bai Meiyue, whose appearance indeed looked like she was getting out of breath and then turned to look at the two men behind her. Just one look at their current dynamics, and the thugs couldn’t help but think that it was really easy to take these people down.
Was it really this easy to take down the boss of the safe base? If they knew that it was this simple, then why would they work so hard to plant the nanobugs? They could have taken them down right away with proper planning! They need to tell Yu Miaomiao that they had already dealt with Bai Meiyue, and they could now take over this readymade safe base
"Hahaha. If I had known that taking you down was this easy, I wouldn’t have wasted so much effort on you." The leader of the thugs laughed. He clapped his hands and said to Bai Meiyue, "Who would have thought that the big nightmare of the chief was just a little coward? But then again, you are a woman; what else can be expected from you?"
The leader didn’t take Bai Meiyue seriously. After all, Bai Meiyue looked a little like a white dodder flower. In the eyes of the leader, she was nothing without Lei Qian’s protection, as he had joined the safe base later and only heard rumours about Bai Meiyue and her tyranny. However, the man looked down on the women and naturally didn’t believe that there was even a single word of truth in those rumours.
Anyway, he had never seen Bai Meiyue causing any kind of trouble. Not once.
So how could he believe that Bai Meiyue was the one those survivors were talking about? If anything, he believed that they must have been fooled by Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian.
Bai Meiyue didn’t want to bother wasting her breath on these men. She took a few more breaths and, with her head tilted to one side, she said to them, "Just go ahead and kill me. Why are you speaking so much?"
However, the men didn’t move. Even the leader turned silent when he saw Bai Meiyue speaking so calmly, as if she was not bothered by the situation she was in at the moment. Which was weird because none of the special guards were in the safe base, and even Lei Qian was not by her side at the moment. There were only two men beside her, and they didn’t look like they were strong ability users with how weak they looked.
"Bai Meiyue, do you think that by acting like this you can actually avoid getting killed?" the leader asked with a light teether. "You look so weak that you seem like you are going to collapse at any second now. One slap alone would be enough to make you collapse on the ground. Where do you find the confidence to stand in front of me and act like a tough shit?"
"It seems like you have no intention to attack, do you?" Bai Meiyue panted. She turned to look at Liu Che and Meng Qibao before saying to them, "Then I will ask them to go first."
