It was night, and the darkness deepened.
The noise outside did not affect Bard Count's mansion.
Shrouded in darkness, the mansion was eerily quiet.
"Help, ah!"
Suddenly, screams echoed from the courtyard gate.
A group of civilians was fleeing down the street.
A horde of faceless ghouls pursued them from behind.
The civilians couldn't outrun the faceless ghouls.
One by one, they were knocked to the ground.
The ghouls tore into their bodies with sharp claws.
A single swipe was enough to leave their bodies in tatters.
The claw marks were so deep that bones were visible.
The stench of blood stained the streets red.
In no time, hundreds of civilians lay dead in front of Bard Count's mansion.
"Help, help, haha, such pathetic humans!"
A voice cackled on the dim street.
A man walked leisurely among the corpses.
He looked at the scattered bodies with a mocking expression.
Strangely, the faceless ghouls ignored him.
They ran past him, swiftly climbing onto rooftops and scattering away.
"Hehe, so this is the place?"
Kidd arrived at the gate of Bard Count's mansion.
He grinned menacingly, unleashing an invisible force.
With a "bang," the large iron gate flew off.
It soared over ten meters before crashing into the courtyard.
Kidd entered the courtyard with a look of boredom.
"Is anyone here? I am the Archdeacon of Sloth, Kidd, here to pay a visit!"
The courtyard and mansion were silent.
Only the city outside glowed with firelight.
And the screams echoed from all directions.
"Such rudeness!"
Kidd stopped in the courtyard.
He squinted at the mansion not far away.
At that moment, a sudden change occurred.
The ground beneath Kidd cracked open.
A pillar of scorching flame shot skyward, engulfing Kidd.
The fiery pillar rose a hundred meters high.
The intense heat turned the ground red, half-crystallized.
When the flames subsided, Kidd stood unharmed on the charred, cracked earth.
Kidd glanced around, patting the blood-patterned black robe on his body.
His actions and demeanor showed no regard for the previous attack.
"Not only can it attack, but it can also defend?"
In the second-floor corridor, Bard used a mirror to observe the figure in the courtyard.
Bard had thought that the man's abilities were only for offense.
Now it seemed he was mistaken.
Bard began to chant softly.
The crystal on his wrist shimmered faintly.
In the courtyard, flames ignited once more.
A massive wall of fire rose from the courtyard before the mansion.
It formed a barrier in front of Kidd.
Bard's sole purpose was to obscure the Archdeacon of Sloth Kidd's vision.
The divine child's abilities did not rely on magic.
Kidd shouldn't be able to pinpoint his location through the flow of magic.
"Such trouble, such an impolite host!"
Kidd grinned wickedly, tilting his head ninety degrees to the left.
An invisible force surged forth.
A massive hole appeared in the fire wall.
"Boom!"
The wall of the mansion's second floor behind the fire wall shattered.
A huge gap was torn open.
"Boom!"
The sound of destruction echoed repeatedly.
Large sections of the mansion crumbled.
The windows on the second floor shattered into pieces.
Under Kidd's relentless assault, the mansion suffered greatly.
"Hehe, I'm tired of this, die!"
Kidd extended his hand, palm facing the mansion.
He was about to unleash a powerful attack to obliterate the entire mansion.
"Dragon Piercer Technique: Break!"
At that moment, a cold snort came from the courtyard.
A blood-red streak shot out from the nearby flowerbed.
It was Fars, wielding a long spear.
Fars and the spear became one, charging straight at Kidd.
The speed was so fast that only a flash of blood could be seen.
Just as the blood light was about to pierce Kidd's body.
Kidd's head suddenly turned toward Fars.
A strange smile appeared on Kidd's face.
"Not good!"
The chill of death gripped Fars' heart, changing his expression drastically.
"Dragon Piercer Technique: Fall!"
Fars shouted loudly.
His body, charging toward Kidd, suddenly soared into the sky.
"Damn it!"
In the sky, Fars realized the danger.
He couldn't maneuver in the air.
As long as that guy could keep up with his speed, he was doomed.
"Foolish guy!"
Kidd grinned wickedly, looking up at Fars falling from the sky.
That guy was dead for sure.
No matter how fast he was, he couldn't be faster than Kidd's eyes.
"Wishful thinking!"
Bard shouted from the second floor of the mansion.
He left his hiding place, waving his hand.
A dazzling explosive fireball shot out, heading straight for Kidd.
Kidd frowned, a trace of impatience flashing in his eyes.
He had to turn his head to face the incoming fireball.
"Boom!"
The explosive fireball crossing the fire wall suddenly exploded in mid-air.
A mushroom cloud of flames rose slowly in the courtyard.
The massive shockwave blew away the fire wall.
"Great opportunity!"
In the sky, Fars turned into a blood light, charging straight at Kidd.
"I jump!"
Kidd flipped backward.
He narrowly dodged Kidd's attack.
With a "boom," Fars crashed into the ground.
A large pit appeared on the ground, debris flying everywhere.
Seeing his attack miss, a trace of astonishment flashed in Fars' eyes.
He hadn't expected Kidd to have such reaction speed.
As Kidd flipped backward, his head down, his gaze locked onto Fars.
The chill of death struck again.
Fars instinctively raised his long spear to block in front of him.
"Crack!"
In that instant, Fars felt a tremendous force coming at him.
It felt like an invisible mountain had crashed onto him.
The long spear in his hand shattered.
Fars instinctively crossed his arms in front of him.
"Bang!"
In the powerful shockwave, Fars was sent flying.
Both arms were crushed in an instant.
He flew dozens of meters away, crashing into the mansion with a "boom."
A hole was smashed into the wall.
"Found you!"
After sending Fars flying, Kidd balanced on two fingers on the ground.
He spotted Bard on the second floor.
"Triple Blazing Shield!"
Seeing Kidd looking at him, Bard's expression shifted slightly.
He raised his palm outward, chanting quickly.
Fiery elemental brilliance surged forth.
One magic shield after another overlapped in front of Bard.
The magic shields were two meters wide and three meters high.
The shield surfaces bore some mysterious magic runes.
"Boom!"
The moment the magic shield formed.
The outermost magic shield shattered.
A wave of air exploded, sweeping in all directions.
The second and third shields shattered in quick succession.
"Holy Shield of Light!"
The crystal ring on Bard's left middle finger suddenly glowed with a milky white light.
A sacred magic shield appeared out of thin air.
The invisible force struck the Holy Shield, causing it to emit a blinding light.
The Holy Shield lasted less than 0.01 seconds before shattering.
