Capítulo 1034: Chapter 644: Bad Luck
As Liu Hun’s words fell, a few figures slowly emerged from the forest. Both Liu Hun and Wu Dao were taken aback when they saw these figures.
Neither of them expected that these people would actually be the Poison Queen and her companions!
At this moment, the Poison Queen, originally dressed in a tight outfit, now appeared somewhat tattered, with her clothes shredded by tree branches, revealing large areas of snow-white skin.
Even though the Poison Queen was older, her figure and appearance were still extremely alluring, like a young girl.
“How can it be you?” Wu Dao asked the Poison Queen in surprise after a brief pause.
Logically, the Poison Queen was supposed to be with the main group, but now their appearance clearly showed they’ve been separated, inadvertently arriving at this location.
As for tracking, neither Liu Hun nor Wu Dao had any such thoughts, as they had randomly chosen their previous direction. If the Poison Queen and her companions were tracking them, it wouldn’t have been possible under those previous conditions.
After all, they did not have Liu Hun’s Bloodline Power to block them; otherwise, given the Poison Queen’s group, they would have evaporated upon encountering those vines and Death’s Eye.
“We were scattered by those Jungle Beasts.” The Poison Queen no longer carried her previous arrogance. Encountering Liu Hun and Wu Dao here gave the Poison Queen’s group some hope.
“Jungle Beasts? Did you encounter a lot of Jungle Beasts over there?” Wu Dao asked confusedly after the Poison Queen’s words.
Regarding the fate of others, Wu Dao didn’t care in the least. He was mainly concerned about the main group. If they were also scattered, Wu Dao would feel rather pleased inside.
At least their suffering here wouldn’t give an advantage to others; ultimately, Wu Dao’s mindset was nearly as selfish and twisted as Liu Hun’s; otherwise, they wouldn’t have come this far together.
“There were about twenty or so Jungle Beasts. These beasts suddenly appeared and scattered us. We were lucky to escape their pursuit; by the way, where are we right now?” The Poison Queen’s beautiful eyes still held lingering fear, illustrating her extreme terror of the Jungle Beasts.
“So many of you, yet facing twenty Jungle Beasts makes you so scared, what a disgrace; you all came from so far away! We, with just a few people up ahead, encountered over a dozen Jungle Beasts and Liu Huyi managed to kill most of them,” Wu Dao replied disdainfully to the Poison Queen, not minding using Liu Hun’s achievements as bragging rights.
However, after a pause, Wu Dao truthfully informed the Poison Queen and her companions: “As for where we are right now, it’s in the opposite direction of our destination.”
“Opposite direction?” Upon hearing Wu Dao’s words, the Poison Queen’s expression immediately became grim.
She had never expected, in her hurried escape, to head in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, within her heart, the Poison Queen felt a sense of shock towards the young Liu Hun, as she hadn’t expected Liu Hun alone to be able to slay so many Jungle Beasts.
Her beautiful eyes, filled with astonishment, took a deep look at Liu Hun. Then, a charming expression surfaced on her pale face as she addressed Wu Dao and Liu Hun: “According to you two gentlemen, what should we do now? Should we quickly catch up?”
Seeing the Poison Queen’s demeanor, Wu Dao chuckled lightly, then pointed behind him toward the forest and said, “If you’re not afraid of dying, I won’t mind at all; after all, there are things more terrifying than Jungle Beasts in there—Death’s Eye. I initially thought you encountered them too, but it seems you’re lucky indeed to have avoided them.”
“Death… Death’s Eye? Is it the Death’s Eye that Huaxia legends claim no one can escape once encountered?” The Poison Queen gasped, her face showing shock upon hearing the name.
“Exactly, this very thing…” Wu Dao had just finished speaking and was about to ask Liu Hun what they should do next when he noticed Liu Hun’s expression, slightly displeased as he looked at the Poison Queen.
After a brief moment of thought, Wu Dao was about to pull Liu Hun aside for a private word when Liu Hun spoke first: “If we want to move forward, we can only bypass this forest. Although it takes more time, it’s better than facing those Death’s Eyes; besides, there’s a small creek here, we can follow it.”
“Uh…” Liu Hun’s words rendered Wu Dao speechless, as he clearly remembered Liu Hun previously saying he intended to kill the Poison Queen and her companions.
But now that they’ve encountered such an opportunity, Liu Hun hasn’t mentioned anything about it, so for a moment, even Wu Dao is unsure of what Liu Hun intends to do.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s hurry over there?” Upon hearing Liu Hun’s words, Poison Queen nodded immediately.
“We’ve just encountered those Death’s Eyes, and we’ve expended too much energy. So now, we must take a good rest, and you all seem rather tired too, don’t you? It’s a perfect time to recover. After all, in a place like this, no one knows what dangers we might face next. If we lack sufficient strength, we’ll be in trouble when danger strikes.” Liu Hun softly told Poison Queen.
Liu Hun’s words made perfect sense, so Poison Queen and the others had no doubts.
Poison Queen and her team sat cross-legged not far away to restore their strength, while Liu Hun spoke with Poison Queen briefly, then went with Wu Dao to the nearby jungle to pick up dry branches and start a campfire.
This could not only ward off the cold but also drive away some unknown dangers, as the sky was about to darken.
Even though Poison Queen felt a bit suspicious of Liu Hun’s actions, she quickly eased her mind. If Liu Hun really wanted to leave them behind, he wouldn’t need such excuses.
Besides, having more people means more strength, a principle Poison Queen understood, and Liu Hun and Wu Dao certainly weren’t foolish, so they likely understood it too.
However, just as Liu Hun and Wu Dao entered the jungle, Wu Dao asked Liu Hun, “Brother Liu, didn’t you say you found Poison Queen unpleasant and planned to get rid of them? You wouldn’t let such a good opportunity slip by, would you?”
Upon hearing Wu Dao’s words, Liu Hun stopped and curiously examined Wu Dao from head to toe.
“Hey, Brother Liu, what are you doing? I’m telling you, even though you saved me earlier, I won’t offer myself in return. Plus, I only like women, and they must be beautiful ones. I have no interest in men.” Wu Dao shivered and said to Liu Hun with a hint of vigilance.
“It’s you who likes men! I was just thinking, with your intelligence, how did your parents feel safe letting you go out alone?” Liu Hun glared at Wu Dao before revealing what was on his mind.
“You guessed right, in the family, I’m not as good as my siblings, otherwise, I wouldn’t have ended up with this tough job.” This time, Wu Dao didn’t argue with Liu Hun but instead spoke with some self-deprecation.
Liu Hun deeply looked at this old fellow Wu Dao, instinctively feeling Wu Dao likely had stories in the family and wasn’t as glamorous as appeared.
However, since Wu Dao didn’t mention it, Liu Hun naturally didn’t ask, because everyone has their secrets.
“I do want to get rid of them. I don’t get along with them, and Poison Queen likely won’t let me off in the future. Since we’d have to face off sooner or later, getting rid of them in this environment would save me some trouble later.” Liu Hun said, then paused, taking a deep look at Wu Dao.
Continuing, Liu Hun said, “The reason I didn’t act is as I mentioned earlier; we don’t know what dangers lie ahead. Having a few more people means more strength. Of course, in critical moments, they might play key roles.”
At the end of his sentence, Liu Hun couldn’t help but show an evil smile.
Seeing Liu Hun’s sinister smile, Wu Dao shivered inexplicably and asked Liu Hun hesitantly, “Do you intend to keep them as scapegoats?”
“This time your brain finally clicked.” Liu Hun smiled and nodded, not refuting.
Anyway, Liu Hun had nothing to hide from Wu Dao concerning this matter.
“If they get on your bad side, they’d be unfortunate, especially since Poison Queen didn’t offend you. Technically, you took advantage of them, and now you’re planning to use them as scapegoats, which is really sneaky. Wait, if it’s as you said, why did you save me earlier rather than using me as a scapegoat?” Wu Dao suddenly realized a crucial question and looked at Liu Hun, puzzled.
“Because keeping you alive is more useful than killing you, and in such a situation, making you a scapegoat wouldn’t work. Might as well save your life and leave you a favor. After all, you’re a scion of a big family. If I have troubles later, you could lend a hand.” Liu Hun candidly said.
“Damn, you’re really pragmatic! But your attitude suits me better; it’s preferable to some sneaky guys. Say what needs to be said, and we’re not really enemies.” Wu Dao cursed Liu Hun and then broke into a smile.
