I Am Not He Shen

Chapter 1823 - 1816: The Beloved Sanctuary City

Chapter 1823: Chapter 1816: The Beloved Sanctuary City

As Tang Ye gained control over his powers, the tilted "Sky Continent" gradually returned to normal, and the people on both sides calmed down from the chaos.

"What just happened? Scared the hell out of me."

"I thought we were going to fall to our deaths tonight."

"Hahaha, almost dropped dead before the Four Great Zombie Kings arrived."

"If this Sky Continent collapsed, who knows how many people would be crushed to death."

"Quiet, quiet, everyone go back!"

"What are you looking at? Nothing happened, stop looking."

[Residents, please remain calm. Just now, there was a minor issue with the Sky Continent’s control system. Please don’t worry and continue with your lives...]

...

As broadcasts were sent out in various regions, the turmoil began to subside.

As for Tang Ye, walking down the street, he angrily slapped himself twice, feeling somewhat frustrated.

"Ma De, what the hell is wrong with me!"

Tang Ye blew at his hair, his expression unpleasant. What had just happened left him both resistant and expectant; it was his first time encountering such a thing, and even now, his hands trembled unconsciously. It was too exciting, so exciting that he couldn’t control his body!

For that moment, he felt like he wasn’t a Zombie King, but rather a low-level zombie just infected with no thinking ability!

Whoo~

Trembling and stumbling, he finally reached the villa set up by the Royal Court at the Cloud Gorge Base. Tang Ye first notified Ah Fu and the others to gather here after they were done, then plopped down on the sofa to try and calm down, but the strange agitation in his heart made it impossible to relax. Before long, he rushed into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and drenched himself in cold water.

The water was icy, but he couldn’t feel the chill at all. After about ten minutes, Tang Ye gradually stepped out from that state of agitation.

Wearing a bathrobe, Tang Ye turned on the television, but lost interest after a short while, feeling puzzled.

Though he had no experience with such things, he was certain it shouldn’t have been that intense! It had gone overboard!

Thinking back to when he first turned into a zombie, that part had already lost its function, only recovering when he evolved to Level 6.

It’s worth noting that only silver-armored zombies recover some lost functions after reaching a certain level, but other types of zombies don’t, not even at Level 7 or 8. They can disguise themselves as humans to live in survivor bases or sanctuary cities, but that’s it.

Of course, whether other types of zombies will experience this, Tang Ye doesn’t know, as he never conducted any tests.

He’s not idle enough to test whether different zombie types can "raise the flag."

As time slowly passed, the continuous sounds from the television started to feel noisy to him as well. Tang Ye let out a sigh and decisively turned off the TV.

Referring to Ah Fu, this could be seen as a drawback of silver-armored zombies, preserving a man’s dignity but also losing something else.

In that moment, a mix of desires caused him to lose all ability to think. Reflecting on Su Sigui’s expression during his departure, Tang Ye awkwardly ruffled his hair—it seemed he’d be embarrassed to face her for the time being.

Next time they meet, who knows how awkward it will be...

"F*ck!" he cursed quietly, forcibly stopping himself from thinking about what had just happened. Then he turned the television back on, though its content wasn’t engaging—mostly news and reports—but Tang Ye forced himself to watch for a while.

Before long, Tang Ye suddenly remembered something, turned the TV off again, and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. Gazing at the night view outside, he wrinkled his brow, seemingly recalling something.

"Strange... where’s Xu Haishui?"

His senses had just scanned the entire Cloud Gorge Base but had not detected Xu Haishui’s presence.

"Could he have already left?" he wondered, rubbing his face in mild embarrassment over what had just happened.

Social death!

Nonetheless, he had to admit that the Cloud Gorge Base truly lived up to its reputation as the human race’s only Double S-Class Sanctuary City. Not only were people desperate to get in, but even some of his kind were plotting ways to infiltrate.

The night deepened, and right at ten o’clock, Tang Ye heard a commotion below. Turning his head, he saw Ah Fu and the others returning from a banquet, reeking of alcohol. The smell wasn’t unpleasant to a zombie’s nose, but neither was it pleasant.

In a few minutes, the drawing-room doors swung open, and a crowd of creatures stumbled in, pushing and shoving, mumbling incoherently. Once inside, they sprawled out everywhere.

"Drinking swill like this?"

"Boss, these guys teamed up to get me drunk!"

"Alright, everyone straighten up a bit."

"What’s up..." Hearing Tang Ye’s tone, the initially carefree crowd got serious.

Tang Ye surveyed them and asked, "Did you clean up after yourselves on the way back? Making a mess and letting others discover it would hurt my reputation."

"Don’t worry, Boss. Su Sigui’s people went in to clean up right after we left."

"This..." Tang Ye hesitated but eventually dropped the issue. "Alright then..."

He sighed inwardly, but Ah Fu quickly asked, "Boss, what did Su Sigui want with you?"

The question brought the earlier events back to Tang Ye’s mind, making his expression a bit unnatural. Ah Fu noticed and exchanged a glance with Chang Jinlun at the back.

Whatever they thought of, when Ah Fu turned back, his face held a mischievous smile.

"Boss..."

"Get lost! What are you thinking?" Seeing Ah Fu’s suspicious expression, Tang Ye’s face darkened. As he glanced around, he realized that his crew, apart from the non-human ones, all had knowing looks on their faces, bewildering Tu-E and the others.

"What are you guys talking about?"

"Boss, what did you say to Su Sigui? Why are they..."

"Get lost, everyone act normally, I have something to discuss with you." Seeing Tu-E and Chu Zha’s curiosity, Tang Ye waved awkwardly, trying to change the subject.

"You all know what’s been happening lately, right? The Zombie Kings from other continents are advancing toward us."

"Yeah, we know."

"They’re trying to take our territory."

"So tell me, should we remain on the sidelines or rise to the challenge?"

"Boss, what do you think?"

Unknowingly, the smiles on the zombies’ and humans’ faces in the drawing room faded, replaced by a tense atmosphere.
