Chapter 1807: Chapter 1800 A Very Interesting Thing
"Hey brother, I know you hate this stuff, but I think you should respect your own culture. You’re wasting food!"
"Just shut up and eat it!"
Hearing his voice again, Chen Chaoyang retorted irritably. Yet the young man didn’t get angry; instead, he smiled. He glanced directly at Chen, then suddenly said, "Do you know stinky tofu?"
"What do you want to say?"
"Do you hate it?"
"I’m not sure."
"I’ve heard from others that stinky tofu smells bad but tastes good. Maybe the thing I’m holding is like stinky tofu, although it doesn’t look good, once you try it, you’ll love it!"
With that, the young man handed over a skewer of roasted cockroaches, making Chen Chaoyang’s face visibly darken.
"Keep this precious thing to yourself."
"Oh well... I’ve suddenly thought of a saying from China and feel compelled to use it! Something like ’Even a wild boar won’t eat fine chaff!’ Yes! You’re that wild boar!"
Chen Chaoyang took a deep breath, unable to refute. During this time, he fully understood this guy; he’s just a complete chatterbox! He talks endlessly throughout the journey!
However, he had to admit, the young man’s ability to learn was terrifying; from the time he met him until now, he had completely mastered Chinese and could speak fluently, often expressing his "excited" feelings, eager to cram himself into a dictionary and use all the words!
He somewhat regretted teaching him Chinese; that damn literal translated tone was polluting him!
Moreover, he was also frustrated about why he and the young man ended up here. Initially, after persuading Kamutos, they would travel across the Atlantic Ocean to enter the Flame Continent directly and then negotiate with the Abyssal Evil Buddha, finally heading to the far north for the Zombie King.
Of course, if the Nightmare Zombie King won, they would enter China directly!
But for some reason, Ryle refused and insisted on taking the long way overland. His rationale was to enjoy the scenery along the way rather than end the trip early, grandly calling it "enjoyment."
But regardless of how nice he made it sound, Chen Chaoyang could tell the guy was afraid of the ocean! Perhaps something happened to him at sea, causing some psychological shadow. Seeing his fear was the reason Chen chose to travel overland with him.
"Hey, don’t get mad; we’re partners, right?" Ryle smiled and pulled back the cockroach skewer before picking one off and delightfully munching with half a pound of chili powder in his mouth.
"If it weren’t for you, we might have returned by now. Don’t blame me if you waste more time!"
"Oh, suit yourself; you can leave first if you can’t wait. Don’t worry, I’ll catch up with you."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! I won’t be boring like you. Since God birthed us into this world, we should learn to enjoy. You know, the word ’life’ was invented by humans."
Chen Chaoyang tightened his grip on his serrated knife, exuding a terrifying aura. Yet, on the other side, Ryle remained calm, slowly savoring his roasted cockroaches without a care in the world for what Chen might do the next moment.
Those around sensed something; they couldn’t sit still, feeling instinctively that the masked man was dangerous!
Consequently, many fled the restaurant before finishing their meals, and the women who secretly glanced at Ryle flushed and hurriedly got up after sensing the killing intent from Chen Chaoyang.
"Hey, hey, hey, do you two need anything?" The large restaurant quickly left only Chen Chaoyang and Ryle. The restaurant boss ran over, wiping his sweat nervously and asked.
Maybe he thought of something, Chen Chaoyang released the serrated knife’s handle. He glanced at the boss, and the air of intimidation he emitted disappeared. The boss breathed a sigh of relief, almost going weak in the knees, trembling as he wiped away sweat.
"Do you have roast lamb?" Soon, Chen’s hoarse voice came over. The boss froze, then bitterly smiled and said, "Sir, you’re putting me in a bind. We’re small; that’s hard to come by here."
Chen glanced over, saying nothing, as he fished several Evolution Crystals from his pocket and tossed them, the boss’s eyes momentarily filled with a sea of green.
"This..."
"Enough?"
Chen’s voice came again, making the boss’s expression more bitter. Although the Evolution Crystals were tempting, roast lamb was rare in a post-apocalyptic setting, hard for ordinary folks to enjoy. Even restaurants had to pay a hefty price to get one, and figuring out who could order it was a problem.
"My goodness, you’re giving me a tough nut to crack. Even if we have roast lamb, it’d be gone quickly. Maybe choose something else...?"
Chen looked at Ryle, who just waved his hands and continued enjoying his roasted cockroaches.
"Then bring something edible. As for this stuff, keep it yourselves." He pointed to the cockroaches in Ryle’s hand. The boss replied joyfully, nodding repeatedly and scampered off to the kitchen.
With the boss gone, Ryle unexpectedly said to Chen, "Weren’t you in a hurry? Ordering all this will waste a lot of time."
"No problem, I’m not in a rush. Since you want to enjoy, we can spend the night here."
"Seems like you’ve figured it out."
Ryle smiled throughout, while Chen remained silent. Soon, several staff members timidly approached their table and laid out a spread. Though not delicacies, they seemed okay. Waving the staff away, Chen began eating heartily.
At seven in the evening, the man and the zombie finished dinner and left the restaurant. Ryle initially headed towards the zombie wall, but seeing Chen, he changed his mind. Who knows if Chen acted on a whim, heading towards the more bustling regions of Sanctuary City instead.
Wasn’t he supposed to be in a hurry?
"Mate, this isn’t like you."
"Oh no, this is precisely me."
"Should I assume you’re up for something interesting?"
"Of course. It’s something all men find very interesting. You’re bound to enjoy it." Chen nodded. His tone revealed no emotion, but Ryle perked up in anticipation.
