Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238: It’s My Cat (7)

“Where is Sanmao going?” Jiaojiao watched in the direction Sanmao disappeared and deliberately started a conversation.

From moving from Xiahe Village to the town, and then to the villa in the city, Sanmao had always followed them.

It’s just that Sanmao had grown up and was male, often not coming home at night. She barely saw him at home, and even if she did, he was lazily curled up in a corner sleeping.

Today was a bit strange, as he surprisingly took a chicken leg out, and the chicken leg looked like it was stolen, meaty and all, with no idea where he was going or what he was doing.

Xiu Xi didn’t reply, just glanced in the direction of Sanmao and led Jiaojiao to school.

Meanwhile, Sanmao trotted away from the Ruan Family, carrying the stolen chicken leg, arriving under an abandoned eave. There were many pieces of wood lying haphazardly there, and he nimbly jumped onto them, sneaking into the middle of the sticks.

He made a soft sound inside, then put the chicken leg down.

A few seconds later, a calico cat slowly came out from inside, its belly a bit rounded. It went up to Sanmao, first nudging him affectionately with its head, then gently rubbing noses, before lowering its head to enjoy the meal.

During the second class on Monday, the break-time exercise was a flag-raising ceremony. As soon as the class ended, Xiu Xi was called away by the homeroom teacher.

At first, Jiaojiao thought he was going to be the flag bearer or read a speech under the national flag, but during the flag-raising, he never appeared.

Even when the third class began, he hadn’t returned, and the third class was even the homeroom teacher’s math class. As soon as the class ended, Jiaojiao immediately went up to ask, “Teacher, where’s Xiu Xi?”

The homeroom teacher was tidying up the lesson plan. Hearing this, he looked up and said, “He went out, didn’t you know?”

“Went out?”

“Yes.”

The homeroom teacher nodded, tucked the lesson plan under his arm, and walked out. Jiaojiao followed behind, and Yang Xiaona, seeing this in the classroom, quickly followed them out as well.

The homeroom teacher stopped outside the classroom door and explained to Jiaojiao, “I thought you knew. His father seems to have come to wait for him outside, so he went out first.”

Father?

Jiaojiao frowned.

Which father? Was it Xiu Jianlin from Xiahe Village, or Duan Qianyang from Beidu? But neither seemed possible.

Xiu Jianlin hadn’t contacted Xiu Xi in years, completely cutting ties.

Duan Qianyang was far away in Beidu; it was impossible for him to suddenly come looking for him.

Jiaojiao became a bit anxious. “What does his father look like?”

The homeroom teacher shook his head. “I don’t know; the teacher didn’t see him either.” Seeing the worry on Jiaojiao’s face, considering her young age, he reassured her, “Don’t worry. Xiu Xi is no longer a child. There’s nothing to worry about. Get back to the classroom and prepare for the next lesson.”

Having said that, he didn’t say anything more and entered the office.

Jiaojiao had no choice but to return to the classroom filled with confusion and concern, waiting for Xiu Xi to come back. But the wait lasted all morning without seeing Xiu Xi return.

Jiaojiao was now thoroughly anxious. As soon as the bell rang for the fourth class in the morning, she dashed downstairs.

At this point, many students rushed out of the classroom, heading towards the cafeteria. Jiaojiao was petite, and going downstairs, she was quickly engulfed in the crowd.

Seeing the tidal wave of people, she suddenly thought of her unlucky tendency to get caught in such situations, panicked, and quickly reached out to grab the stair railing beside her.
