Chapter 2542: Chapter 2543: Made a Scapegoat
...
Early the next morning, many people who had just woken up saw that the place where Sui Zimo and his team had slept was already empty.
"What’s going on here? Where are they? They just left like that?"
Some couldn’t believe that Sui Zimo’s team had just left like that.
After all, there is strength in numbers, and demons wouldn’t dare come if there are enough people. But that team just left, without saying a word?
"Why would they stay anyway? In that team, except for that woman, who’s not impressive?" a woman said sarcastically.
Those three impressive men were all revolving around that woman, weren’t they? Their team in the vast forest could probably avoid danger, right?
Not like them, stuck with a team that relies on women to fight demons!
"Gone? Did they really just leave like that?"
When Dan’er heard others talking about how Sui Zimo’s team had left during the night, she felt awful.
Even though she took pain-relief elixir pills, she hadn’t slept a wink. The resentment in her heart, coupled with her bandaged eyes still oozing blood, made her truly hate that woman!
She finally found a man she liked, but why won’t that woman let go?
"Sister Yin, let’s chase them and have the captain lead us." She tightly grabbed Sister Yin’s sleeve and suggested to her.
Sister Yin heard her and opened her mouth.
Of course, she wanted to chase after them. She spent the entire night thinking of ways to lure Sui Zimo to her side, to work for her.
But today, upon waking, she found they were gone. How could she be willing?
However, wanting something doesn’t mean she can have it her way. It’s not like she’s the captain of the team; she can’t command the whole team, can she?
"Dan’er, let’s not talk about it now. Yesterday’s events made the captain very unhappy. If we mention this again today, the captain might actually kick us out." She said in a low voice to Dan’er.
She had thought that as long as she was in this team, she would be safe.
But last night, the looks from the other team members were so disdainful, as if they wished they were dead here, which secretly alarmed her.
"How could it be? We’re all in the same team. They wouldn’t dare kick us out!" Dan’er said, still not grasping the situation.
"Why not?"
Sister Yin raised her voice slightly, frowning at her.
"Even though Commander Lin said each team has seven people and we can’t join other teams, he didn’t say we can’t ditch the burdens, did he? Dan’er, the two of us—you can’t see now, and can’t help.
And I have to take care of you, which means I can’t help either. To the captain and them, we’re nothing but burdens.
They probably wish we’d make another mistake so they could use it as an excuse to leave us behind. Even if they don’t, when demons attack next time, they might use us as scapegoats.
Men are unreliable; they really would do such things!"
"Hiss!"
After hearing Sister Yin’s words, Dan’er gasped.
"No, it can’t be, right? They wouldn’t dare do such a thing, right?"
