Chapter 420: Chapter 420 The Same

On the way home, Lele wet his diaper.

Thankfully, Yang PeiMin was prepared and pulled out a fresh diaper from her bag to change him.

Shen Yiguang laughed at the scene.

Yang PeiMin was a bit annoyed, “Oh my son, why didn’t you do it when your dad was holding you just now?”

The two chatted and laughed, and in half an hour, they were back home.

When they reached home, Chen Guizhi looked behind them, “Did you run into Yixiang at the mall? I heard they went to buy something too.”

Yang PeiMin said, “We bumped into her at the entrance, and just then we saw the people from the military unit arrived, and her partner went back with them.”

“Why didn’t you ask her to come back for dinner?” Chen Guigu sighed.

Shen Yiguang couldn’t help himself, “Mom, Yixiang is not a child anymore, if she wants to come back, she’ll come back on her own.”

When Chen Guizhi heard her son say that, she stopped fussing and turned her attention to her grandson, immediately smiling wide, “Oh my, this child has been out for a while now and still looks so lively! He must be hungry, PeiMin go wash your hands and feed him first.”

Yang PeiMin nodded her head and was the first to walk into the house.

Chen Guizhi noticed Shen Yiguang holding a big bag, “Oh my, what did you buy? Why are there so many things?” She leaned over to take a closer look, “Why did you buy so many towels? We already have these at home! And look at these cups, don’t we already have several at home?”

She shook her head, clearly perplexed and somewhat anxious, “Did your wife remember it wrong? We already have these at home, can these things be returned?”

Shen Yiguang explained softly, “Minmin said that the towels at home have been used for too long and are not good anymore, these cups are for backup; they can be used when we have guests over, Minmin has everything figured out, mom, don’t worry.”

“What, we’re not going to use these perfectly good old towels? Isn’t this a waste? Oh no, this can’t be right. Just replace yours, I don’t need new ones,” Chen Guizhi frowned slightly, clearly disagreeing, but she seemed resigned.

Shen Yiguang comforted her, “Let Minmin handle the household shopping, and if you need anything, just tell Minmin. I’ve already asked too much from you by having you help with the baby, and if there’s anything you’re hesitant to talk to us about, it would worry us even more. It’s true we need to save, but there are necessities we can’t skimp on.”

After living with Yang PeiMin, Shen Yiguang’s life philosophy and habits had quietly changed, he too used to advocate for frugality.

Chen Guizhi nodded, feeling a bit helpless inside.

Having played for the better part of the day, Yang PeiMin realized she had a pile of coursework and work undone, and felt a sudden rush. After quickly feeding her son, she immediately got to work.

When Shen Yiguang came in to talk to her, Yang PeiMin shooed him away, “Have you finished making our son’s toy? You just know how to procrastinate!”

Shen Yiguang: “…”

When Yang PeiMin was at her parents’ home, she saw her nephew Xiao Bao had a little chair for sitting and playing. When the adults were busy, they’d put the child in it. It came with a movable board that they could fasten tightly when placing the child inside. This way, the child could sit there quietly, unable to get out, and could move their hands and feet. The chair could also be used as a feeding table. Yang PeiMin planned to have her son sit in it to eat when he was a bit older and wouldn’t let him out until he finished a set amount of food.

She had already shared this idea with Shen Yiguang, and he should have known what she meant since such a chair is common in the countryside.

However, Shen Yiguang had been slow to get started, and Yang PeiMin, being impatient by nature, often urged him since she wanted him to make many toys.

Now, each was busy with their own tasks.

“”

Yang Peijun, who had just woken from his nap, also came out to help. With the two of them working together, things were getting done much faster. Indeed, by dinner time, they had already come up with a prototype that just needed a bit more polishing.

Just as Yang Peimin finished writing an essay, she stretched her neck and saw their progress, “Hey, that’s not too bad. I’ve always said that it’s only because you drag your feet when you’re alone that it takes so long. If you had started earlier, it would have been finished by now. Given how efficient you both are now, I’m planning to cook dinner myself tonight as a reward for you.”

Yang Peijun quickly said, “The usual is fine with us, you always say not to be proud of our successes, so you don’t need to cook.”

Shen PeiMin: “…”

Even though Yang Peimin rarely cooked these days, she could feel that her cooking skills had improved because sometimes she would discuss cooking with her sister.

Being denied face like that, Yang Peimin rolled her eyes at him, “Third brother, you’ve started earning a salary, haven’t you thought about treating us to a meal at a restaurant?”

Yang Peijun looked surprised, “Yingzi’s cooking is even better than the restaurants’, Minmin, wouldn’t that be a waste?”

Yang Peimin turned and entered the kitchen.

The number of people eating wasn’t small, but Chen Guizhi felt it was eerily quiet. Although she didn’t mention Shen Yixiang, it was clear to everyone that she missed her and wanted her to come home for dinner. Her words were full of concern for her.

Yang Peimin pretended not to understand and started talking to Yingzi beside her, asking about things outside, and then Yang Peijun, not wanting to be left out, joined in the conversation.

Shen Yiguang finished his meal quickly and urged Yang Peimin to eat up as he needed to put his son to sleep.

Chen Guizhi cheerfully said, “Let her take her time. I’m here for the child.”

Shen Yiguang looked at her helplessly and called out, “Mom, you’ve been tired all day; you should rest early.”

Chen Guizhi immediately realized, “Right, I am indeed a bit tired. You all should sleep early too, and quickly take Lele in with you.”

Everyone: “…”

Yang Peimin finished her meal in confusion and followed Shen Yiguang into the bedroom.

As soon as she entered, Shen Yiguang turned around and locked the door.

Yang Peimin immediately understood his intention and gave him a glare, “Are you thinking about that right after dinner? I’m not ready to go to sleep so early.”

“It’s okay, I’ll wait for you to finish breastfeeding the son.”

Yang Peimin: “…”

“Didn’t you already come by at noon?”

“Yeah, and I had lunch then too. Just because it’s evening now doesn’t mean I can skip eating, does it?”

“How can you mix those two things together?”

“To me, it’s all the same!”

Yang Peimin: “…”

The next day was just like any other. Shen Yiguang went back to the military base early in the morning, and Yang Peimin returned to school as well, despite feeling aches in her back and waist!
