Chapter 87: Chapter 87
Olivia’s POV
I stood there, trembling - with anger, fear, or adrenaline, I couldn’t tell. "I’m not staying here listening to your rubbish, David. I’m leaving."
But as I took a step toward the door, David’s voice cut through the air, stopping me cold.
"Why do you think I brought you here, Olivia?" His tone was casual and calm, which somehow made it ten times more terrifying. "You can’t leave this place until I get what I want."
I stilled, the reality of my situation crashing over me. We were in the middle of nowhere, in a warehouse that probably hadn’t seen another soul in months. David had always been controlling, manipulative, but this? This was something else entirely.
My throat felt tight, like someone was slowly choking me. I turned back to face him, as tears burned behind my eyes.
"Why are you doing this to me?" My voice cracked, breaking on the last word, and I hated how small and vulnerable I sounded. "Haven’t you hurt me enough? I thought... God, I thought you’d changed."
"I have changed, Olivia. Really, truly changed." He stood up, taking a step closer, his eyes never leaving mine. I instinctively backed away until my legs hit the sofa. "But you didn’t want to believe me, did you? You lied to me, tried to run away before I could prove it to you. So now I’ll just have to make you mine so I can spend the rest of my life showing you exactly how much I’ve changed."
The casual way he talked about "making me his," made bile rise in my throat.
"I can’t be with you, David," I said desperately, "I’m dating someone else. I can’t do..."
"Bullshit." David laughed harshly, cutting me off. "You’re lying."
"I’m not!" The words came out louder than I intended, fueled by desperation and the need to make him believe me, to make him let me go.
"Yes, you are. You’re not dating anybody because no sane man would allow the woman he loves to destroy herself by doing what you’re doing right now."
"I am dating someone!" I screamed, my composure cracking by the second. "He just doesn’t know about my... my other identity!"
David raised an eyebrow, looking amused by my outburst. "Oh really? And do you sleep over at this supposed boyfriend’s house?"
"Yes," I lied without thinking, "I sleep over at his place because he’s my safe haven and not as crazy as you are!"
David nodded knowingly, and I watched as a satisfied smile spread across his face. "Then it’s confirmed - you’re not dating anyone, because he would’ve known. In fact, you haven’t dated anyone since you left me because you’re still in love with me and haven’t been able to find someone else."
What the fuck was this guy even saying!? He was pure mental.
"You’re completely insane!" I screamed, tears of frustration and rage burning down my cheeks.
His smile widened, "That’s what you’ve always loved about me, sweetheart."
Just when I was about to let my dam of tears flow, my phone started ringing.
I looked down to see Kira’s name flashing on the screen, and I felt a surge of relief wash over me.
Thank God. Kira would help me.
I raised the phone to my ear, ready to answer and scream for help, but David was faster. He snatched it from my grasp before I could even swipe to accept the call.
"We’re having an important conversation here," he said, holding my phone just out of reach like it was a toy he’d taken from a misbehaving child. "No interruptions allowed." He sat back down on the sofa. "Now, what’s that your boyfriend’s name? I’d love to Google him, see what kind of man has captured my Olivia’s heart."
Something inside me snapped just then. All the pent-up anger, frustration, fear, suddenly exploded into pure fury.
"Give me my phone!" I shrieked as I launched myself at him like a wildcat, all rational thought leaving my head. My nails found his face, raking across his cheek and drawing lines of blood. I clawed at him with everything I had.
"Give me my phone, you bastard!" I screamed, my voice breaking with fury.
Instead of being angry or trying to defend himself properly, David started laughing - a deep, delighted sound that chilled me to the bone. Even as my nails scratched his skin, even as I pounded my fists against his chest, he looked like he was having the time of his life.
"God, I’ve missed you," he said, his voice filled with pleasure as he easily caught my wrists. "My fiery little princess. Do you have any idea how much your fury is turning me on right now?"
His words made my skin crawl and my stomach lurch with disgust. I fought harder, twisting in his grip, using my whole body to try to break free. My breath came in harsh gasps, and I could taste salt from my tears on my lips.
"Let me go!" I sobbed, my voice raw. "Just let me go, please!"
But his grip only tightened, and I could feel his arousal pressing against me, almost poking my stomach.
Somehow, I managed to wrench one hand free and grabbed my phone from where he’d loosely held it, distracted by his sick pleasure.
I pulled away from him and turned toward the door, my heart hammering against my ribs as I ran, but David was right behind me. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me back against his chest with force.
"Where are you going to princess? You can’t just turn me on and leave me hanging. You need to do something about little hard jack." he whispered in my ear, his breath hot against my neck. His voice was husky with desire, and I could feel him pressing against my back.
Disgust and terror gave me strength I didn’t know I had. I drove my elbow back as hard as I could, putting every ounce of my weight behind it, as I elbowed his nose.
David cried out, his grip loosening just enough for me to break free.
"You fucking bitch!" he roared behind me.
I didn’t look back. I ran for the door like my life depended on it - because apparently it did.
I burst out into the cool night air, gasping like I’d been drowning.
The night air was cold, but I didn’t stop running. I could hear David cursing behind me, probably trying to stem the blood from his nose, and the sound gingered me to keep running.
Just as I thought I might actually escape this nightmare, I saw headlights approaching in the distance. My heart sank as I realized it had to be Roy, returning with whatever sick costume David had planned for me.
I couldn’t let him see me - not when I was this close to freedom. I dove behind a cluster of industrial dumpsters, pressing myself into the shadows. My whole body was shaking, adrenaline and fear coursing through my veins.
I could hear my heart hammering so loudly, my breathing ragged. I had to clamp a hand over my mouth to muffle the sound.
My phone buzzed with another notification, and I quickly fumbled to silence it before the sound could give away my hiding spot. But as I glanced down at the screen through my tears, the messages I saw made me freeze in shock.
The first text from Kira read: "OMG the engagement party just CRASHED! Where did you go!"
The second one made my jaw drop: "Vanessa was caught making out with SABRINA!!!"
