Chapter 289: Chapter 289
I felt vulnerable the more little kisses he gave me as he also made me follow him to the window.
He would say he was going and yet... He would still give another kiss on my lips, simply reluctant to let go... Just as I was.
It’s troubling how much I wanted him to stay... The chair and table... I even made Paige and Vitor move it away as he had suggested since I do think I should look at the outside differently.
However...
’Now every time my eyes wander off to that window... I feel unhappy...’
This sensation I refuse to name keeps growing... And I miss him... so vividly now that my leave from the palace happened. Much more than I had imagined...
Sigh... It’s... troubling. So, so troubling...
But this rule of not naming it is for our own good... The original should begin in two months... This world’s months... And then...
’If things happen differently... If... if his sweet behaviour keeps being directed to us and only us...’ — My eyes only clench to the thought.
I keep thinking about it but at last, I can’t let myself say it. We both can’t.
The existence of Karina is there and I cannot shake it off... All I want is for her to appear so I can feel free to admit it.
’Sigh... But now, not only my days but even my nights feel longer...’
I’m a mess.
My head is a mess...
I haven’t gone near that window at all because of the jittery feeling it gives me.
In the end... Back then I followed him to the edge where he sat to kiss me one last time. Caressing my nose with his before he finally left.
— Farewell my Lady Marianne. —
The shiver of his handsome whisper gets me every time I remember... And how I watched him jump down so nonchalantly to look up and smirk at me before going to the front of the castle... I really feel like I’ve been enchanted by his dreamy behaviour.
Those eyes that seem pink when looking at me... I simply can’t stop recalling his existence...
It’s maddening. It’s annoying. Even more because even with frustration I seem to still enjoy it.
’Urgh~... I better get going, or Paige will ask again why I keep looking from afar at that window...’
"My Lady."
’!? I-I said I’m going! I swear I’m not looking–!!’
"Are you not taking the books with you? I thought today’s visit to the library would be to return these."
’-Oh... Er... Right. I was– I was testing your efficiency, Paige... but you get a nine this time since you kind of surprised me talking so suddenly.’
Ashamed from being so paranoid about it, I walked pouting on the inside at Paige’s timing. Taking the books in my arms and saying goodbye to my pretty tear since it would be staying in my bedroom on her own.
’Stay still. Watch our bedroom while we’re away... You could do some tricks too if you want.’
I’ve been kind of talking to it like a pet since I’m really waiting for it to do something. But the more I wait, the more I think it has no use.
It’s a good thing we are leaving the day after tomorrow for the Forest House. So, since it’s supposed to be kind of a magical place, the tear could–... Wait a minute.
’Shouldn’t I take you with me to the Library??’ — I asked to the tiny box containing it. — ’If we think of magical things... It’s supposed to be archaic but isn’t the door to the library a good shot to try???’
Recalling that fact made me smirk wickedly in excitement. And obviously, my mood became eager in the face of a little adventure. Expectation is all I need to have a bit of fun.
Therefore, I took the treasure and shoved it into my dress’s hidden pocket, impatient to leave our room to get to the library soon and try it out.
Since I had just finished dressing, Sir Vitor was still waiting outside, and following behind me, Paige closed the doors to my room as I bowed to my quiet knight who also bowed in silence to return my greeting.
I was excited. So right after, I went my way, since I already knew where to go. And from behind I could hear them follow as Paige whispered something, that, by the way, I still was able to hear, to Sir Vitor.
"hehe~... My lady seems excited. It’s been some time since she visited the library."
’Of course I am! What if the door reacts and Boom! A flash! Or– or- or maybe another dimension opens! Or– uh... The souls the tear contains appear in the door!! Woah!! That would be awesome!!!’
Oh d*mn, now I’m hyperventilating at the expectation! Even if an explosion occurs it’s worth it!!...
’Ok, that’s not true. I’m should regain a bit of my sanity.’
The big glass door leading to the bridge linking the main castle with the library was opened kindly by Sir Vitor, whose hand gentlemanly stopped Paige from trying to do it. Both of us bowed thankful and went outside to be received by a sunny fresh day of a wonderful summer season.
If I remember correctly, the door should change colour depending on the season, so... Last time it was of a rosy peach shade, hence...
’Hrmm... I can’t say what is it from afar...’ — Walking through the bridge, I started intensely to even squint my eyes trying to make sense of the colour it had taken. But it was only when I was in front of it that the true colour could be discerned.
’Wow... It’s so... Vivid... So... So pretty but it also looks so unreal...’ — I thought while admiring it.
It was a crystalline stain... One that seemed to contain many colours within one. And its shape was that of a blooming flower that had petals of many colours that even waved to the breeze refreshing the morning.
I had thought it was red but then fuchsia, yellow and orange seemed to also be in its watercolour-stained petals as the places without colour seemed to resemble water... one that almost reflected our silhouettes before it... as lines that I would grant are the stems of a flower went down the plump petals, elegantly framing the stain...
"Claye Theuros Glass..." — I heard the also impressed Sir Vitor mumble to himself. Unconsciously letting me recall this door’s material name.
’Yeah... That thing.’ — I said, ruining the whole suspense since I still have yet to grasp the name fully.
