Chapter 209: Partial taming the spider? (1)
The next hour, when he tried using the ant queen to make a connection with the rat again.
Theo entered the bond between him and the ant queen, and saw the rat’s silhouette.
When he felt the emotions of the rat that were open like a book in the taming space, Theo tried his hand at taming it again.
He tried communicating with it, but the rat, as if seeing an opportunity, rejected the advance right away, as if thinking it would go out of this place this way.
That was what usually happened, but as the ant queen had brought it with force into its bond, it really fell toward the ant queen whether it wanted to let the rat go or not.
When Theo saw no change in the rat, even though he sent a lot of images of food to it, he told the ant queen to stop the partial taming.
This was the only trial that had gone for five minutes straight before Theo felt like he knew somewhat of the problem.
One of the theories that barely scraped the surface of the issue was that the rat just didn’t want to contact him, no matter what. It was a weird thing that could only be classified as unknown because he didn’t know a beast was able to resist the temptations of food this good.
And the same thing happened with the other two times he tried, so Theo stopped doing this for a while till he could fully get it.
After a while, he couldn’t help but try a few more attempts, where the rats wanted nothing to do with him again.
The second theory was that the rats were scared of the ant queen, which was certain now, and why wouldn’t they be? Even Theo could feel the pressure inside the beast space, even though the ant was his own beast.
He was soon interrupted by a physician sent by the head butler to get Theo’s weight and height, which made Theo happy as he had grown a lot taller in the past months.
The knight training was helping him with his physique from a very early age.
But the new discovery of the ’Hive Mind Nexus’ ability of the ant was still at the back of his mind.
He decided to leave it and focus on the feeding of his insects in the terrarium room.
Since the ant queen had come, Theo had given little to no time to his insects, and it was the first day he let some of them out.
When the turn of the spider came, Theo smiled and took it in his hand. The spider kept staring at him, and by now, Theo could tell that the spider’s eyes were a lot more intelligent than any of his insects except the ant queen and the mantis.

Theo got the kill message through the system and moved it away like it was nothing.
Right now, the mantis was in the forest by itself, and that too, in the boar territory.
It had started to take place since the evolution when the mantis was now able to take care of many, many things with its poison, its paralytic spores, and the metallic strike.
Theo had allowed it to fight and eat in the forest with the only exception of how it should stay away from humans if it ever came in contact with one.
But the part of the forest that he was in had little to no humans, as it was too close to the castle.
Now, the mantis killed and ate to its heart’s content while providing itself and Theo with EXP points.
And with Chip given the command to keep an eye on the location of the mantis, he was a lot easier to track it later.
When he moved the kill message back, Theo saw the spider looking at him in his hand, and before he shifted it inside the big terrarium, he froze in realization.
All this time, he was using the ’Hive Mind Nexus’ on the wrong beast.
Theo quickly moved his hand back, making the spider flinch from the runic dust on the ground.
Theo left it near the ant colony and kept the spider on the ground for the first time.
The spider felt the foreign territory and tried going to the edge of the room, which was close.
’Ant queen, use the skill again on this one.’ Theo gave the instruction and gave the mental image of the spider, and then the location.
After just a minute, Theo saw the ant queen get out of the colony through the small hole. There were countless worker ants all around its body trying to protect it.
There was quite a distance between the ant queen and the spider, but before he knew it, the spider started shivering in the corner of the room.
Theo quickly went inside the bond and travelled fast, only to reach the ant queen’s head in a matter of seconds.
He touched the ant queen’s head, which made its mandibles move a few times.
Waiting for a few more seconds, Theo could see it—a head that looked a little smaller than the mantis’s, and without its body and legs, it looked a lot less menacing than in the real world.
Theo could not feel a lot of emotions from the spider, except curiosity.
He slowly made his way forward toward the spider, and when Theo was close enough, he felt the spider’s emotion change a little.
Now, the spider felt confused yet safe at the same time after feeling Theo’s presence near it.
It went a little closer to Theo, who froze. The spider’s face may have been smaller, but it was still very horrifying with all the eyes on its face.
When it came closer to Theo and its face slightly touched him, it bared its fangs at the ant queen, who was just floating at the same spot as usual.
It was at that moment that Theo finally realized it.
’You have no fear against the ant queen, unlike the rats... and you are trying to protect me too?’ Theo thought and swayed his hand over the area of the spider’s face that didn’t have eyes.
’Please accept the taming of the ant queen,’ Theo said to the spider after feeling the same connection again.
He showed them all the things they would be able to achieve finally, and when he showed them the image of them fighting together with the mantis and the worker ants, it finally showed some reaction, and looked at Theo again.
