Chapter 306: Disarmed
Victor felt all the hair on his body rise as a molten hand reached out to grab him from behind.
"Shadow blink!" Without hesitation, Victor vanished from sight.
In the next breath he reappeared behind Garo while swinging his blade forward in a merciless arc.
The legacy sword cut through Garo’s body and sunk into the molten flesh like stabbing into heated butter.
Victor eyes narrowed upon noticing that he didn’t deal any damage due to Garo’s body turning fiery liquid at the lasy moment.
Fortunately, the sword didn’t melt since the blade was no ordinary weapon.
Just as he was about to pull the sword out, Garo’s lips curled in a molten grin.
His liquefied body hardened in an instant as the lava cooled into rough black stone, trapping the sword inside his torso.
"What the—?!" Victor yanked, but the blade wouldn’t budge. It was like trying to pull metal out of set concrete.
From above, Maro came crashing down with his enlarged boulder sized lava fist descending like a meteor.
Victor snarled, released the sword, and leapt backward with Wind Glide, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Boom!
The impact shook the ground causing spiderweb cracks to spread out like shattered glass.
Smoke and dust filled the air, swallowing the battlefield in choking waves.
Victor gritted his teeth while staring at his legacy sword trapped in Garo’s both. He was well aware that this put him at a great disadvantage and swiftly tried to come up with a way to get his sword back.
Both brothers sneered as they charged at him again with confidence dripping from their eyes now that Victor was unarmed.
---
Meanwhile, at the edge of the battlefield—
Felix limped toward the grotesque red cocoons that littered the surroundings.
His right stump had clotted, though it still burned with phantom pain. The healing mana solution had stopped the bleeding but couldn’t regenerate the limb completely.
This was why healers on the battlefield was an absolute necessity. They were the only ones that could heal a major damage like this instantaneously.
Still, he pressed on.
"While Victor is facing those monsters... the least I can do is get them out," Felix muttered through clenched teeth.
He raised his broken blade with his left hand, drawing mana into it and with a grunt, he stabbed into the first cocoon.
Squelch!
The blade pierced, and immediately the cocoon shuddered as black veins spread across its surface before bursting.
Warm, sticky fluid spilled out, followed by a coughing student who gasped desperately for air.
Felix caught them with his good arm. "You’re free—now run!"
The student nodded weakly and stumbled toward safety.
Felix turned back to the next cocoon. His eyes hardened. "One by one... I’ll save them all."
---
Back on the battlefield—
Victor ducked as Maro’s massive arm swiped overhead, cutting through the air like a molten guillotine with his lava fist. Heat brushed against Victor’s skin, singeing strands of his hair.
"Warm, but not warm enough."
He exhaled sharply and suddenly spat a torrent of flame; "Dragon Breathing Arts!"
The flames coiled midair, morphing into a serpentine dragon that roared as it lunged at Maro.
Maro snarled, swinging his massive arm. His fist collided with the fire-dragon, shattering it into sparks.
Garo’s jaw suddenly unhinged at this moment and he shot out burning spits of lava from his mouth at incredibly fast speed.
At the same time, Victor blurred forward with Phantom Mirage Step causing afterimages to scattering in every direction.
The numerous lava spit moving at bullet quick speed, failed to hit their targets as he evaded every single one of them.
Garo’s molten eyes flickered, trying to track him—
But too late.
Victor reappeared at his side with his palm glowing cold.
"Frost Bloom Palm!"
His strike landed directly on Garo’s torso causing frost to seep into the molten flesh.
Steam exploded outward violently, hissing like a scream.
Garo stumbled back as cracks of icy blue spread across his lava-like body.
’If I get him cold enough to crack, I can retrieve my sword,’ Victor voiced internally as he reached out to grab the hilt of his sword which was still stuck in Garo’s body.
But Maro wouldn’t allow it.
His arm bubbled once more with fresh magma as he roared before launching a barrage of lava fists like cannonballs.
Victor’s body blurred as he once more let go of the hilt and weaved between the projectiles with Wind Dash.
He somersaulted over Maro’s barrage of lava fist and landed behind him, before activating Gale strike and infusing it into his fist.
Victor’s fist, wrapped in the fury of his Gale Strike, shot forward with the force of a hurricane condensed into human flesh.
The air screamed as it bent around his strike, warping and cracking like glass under the pressure. His blow was aimed straight at the broad back of the Drakenar brute, Maro.
But in that instant, an unexpected scenario played out.
Maro’s entire upper torso spun around, contorting in an angle no living thing should ever have been able to pull off.
His back twisted into a front with his chest facing Victor where his spine had been a heartbeat ago.
His monstrous fist mirrored the motion, lashing out in perfect counterforce.
"—The hell?!" Victor’s eyes widened.
BOOM!
The two fists collided in mid-air, releasing a deafening thunderclap.
Shockwaves erupted outward like tidal waves, flattening everything in a twenty-meter radius.
The ground between them split open, forming craggy ravines as dirt and gravel sprayed into the sky.
Victor skidded back with his boots grinding against broken stone. He dug his heels in but was still shoved backward several feet.
His shoulders strained rom the impact as blood pounded in his ears.
Maro, on the other hand, was launched like a spinning boulder across the battlefield.
His massive body smashed into the ground, bounced, then slid for over ten meters, carving a trench into the earth.
And yet, he rose again.
The large Drakenar bounded back to his feet with his crimson eyes blazing with a frenzy that bordered on insanity.
A grotesque grin stretched across his curvy maw as his feet thundered against the broken terrain.
"Round two already?" Victor muttered while spitting iron-tasting blood to the side. "You’re worse than those spam duel invites in PvP servers."
Maro roared and came barreling in again.
The clash resumed as the two monsters traded blows.
Victor’s fists and feet blurred as he channeled Dragon Breathing Arts onto his fists.
Flames licked the edges of his knuckles as he pummeled Maro, driving him into the ground, into stone pillars, into protruding rocks that shattered under the repeated collisions.
Bang!
Crack!
Wham!
Victor’s palm glowed blue-white as frost formed over it. He slammed his Frost Bloom Palm into Maro’s chest.
Ice crystals spread like veins over the scaled hide, slowing the circulation of the brute’s blood.
Maro’s movements faltered but only for a second before he flexed, shattering the frost into powder as his body burned even hotter than before.
’What sort of bodybis that?!’ Victor grunted inwardly and ducked under another wild swing.
He countered with a sharp kick under Maro’s chin, forcing the Drakenar’s head to snap back with a sickening crack.
But even as Victor fought tooth and nail, he was bleeding. Every blocked punch left his arms numb, and every impact from Maro’s fists hurled him across the battlefield like a ragdoll.
And then, Garo’s sneaky inputs just made the situation even more difficult.
From the flank, the second Drakenar opened his maw wide. His throat glowed molten orange before vomiting forth a storm of searing magma spits.
"—Not again!" Victor barked before vaulting aside.
Each glob of liquid fire crashed into the ground like meteor strikes, exploding with devastating force.
One shot skimmed his shoulder, leaving scorch marks across his skin.
Another sizzled into the dirt beside him, leaving a molten crater.
Victor leapt while twisting his body in mid-air as he activated Wind Glide and double-jumped off compressed air to evade the rain of death.
But Garo wasn’t letting up.
The stream of magma this time was unending. They rained upon Victor unrelentlessly from, barely giving him space to evade.
Victor used Shadow Blink and vanished before reappearing on the other side of the battlefield.
He barely had a second to breathe before Maro was already on top of him again with fists the size of boulders slamming down.
Victor threw up a Wind Barrier in desperation.
BOOOOM!
The lava fist slammed into the barrier and blasted it apart like glass under a hammer.
The molten mass struck Victor square in the chest, detonating against him with the power of a cannonball. His body spun violently through the air as the smell of charred fabric and burnt skin followed him.
"Arghh—damn it!" Victor coughed blood as his body cratered into the ground before skidding to a halt.
His chest was scorched by the heat, making every breath feel like agony.
All the while, his eyes darted to one thing.
His legacy sword.
The blade was still embedded in Garo’s solidified torso, suspended in the molten flesh like an insect trapped in amber.
He knew just how advantageous his blade was due to the fact that punches couldn’t do much damage to Drakenars tough bodies. Especially when these Drakenars were even more powerful than the usual.
’I need it back. Without it, I won’t last much longer.’
Almost as though reading his thoughts, Garo grinned cruelly.
His body rippled and his molten flesh melted while slowly reforming.
The blade that was lodged within him, suddenly slipped free, hovering loosely in the liquid mass.
Victor’s eyes widened.
This was his chance.
With a sharp exhale, he activated Shadow Blink and burst into darkness before reappearing right in front of Garo.
With intense speed, his hand shot out for the blade—
WHAM!
Maro’s colossal fist suddenly intercepted him from the side like a battering ram before he could wrap his fingers around the hilt.
Victor barely got his arms up to block the punch in the last moment but the force still caved into his defenses.
His bones screamed under the pressure before he was launched like a missile while spitting blood mid-air.
His body spun violently across the air before slamming into one the walls of a ruined Drakenar fortress in the distance.
His body got embedded deep into the wall, leaving a human-shaped crater across its surface.
"—Ghhk!" Victor groaned as blood spilled down his chin.
