Chapter 308: A Meeting With The New President
"This is bullshit! Why the hell isn’t he answering?!" Cassie hissed, her eyes on the ignored calls on her call log.
Hannah rubbed her back, "Ma’am, I’m certain that this is all a misunderstanding. Mr Halton is so obsessed with you, he wouldn’t do anything so scandalous."
From the front seat, Serena suggested, "I think this is all planned. Isn’t it convenient that these pictures were just leaked? I don’t think any media house would dare do this without first trying to milk some money out of Ethan." She reasoned.
She went on, "She must’ve hired a photographer and had someone leak those photos just to boost her premiere. That desperate wench."
Cassie pinched her temples. "That bitch, Brooke! She’s going to pay for this! I’ll leak them all! She’s not going to crawl out of this so easily!" She raised her head from the phone to the awaiting reporters waiting at their agency.
Hannah nodded, "Of course ma’am, that lecherous woman will get what she deserves." Changing the topic, she said. "Now, you must focus on meeting with the new president of the agency."
"Another headache. Who the hell is this B.G? And why is she only showing herself now? Didn’t she see all that’s been happening to me?!" To Cassie it was ludicrous that an outsider was now the largest share holder for the company she was set to inherit.
Under her breath, she cursed, "Damned Luther! You can’t even do a single thing right!" She balled her fists. "I hope you suffer in whatever hole you’re hiding..."
Inside the building, Cassie could tell that the staff were all talking about her, even if no one dared to utter a single word, she knew they were judging her.
If only she wasn’t currently drowning in the public eye, she would’ve crashed out and taught them all a lesson.
"Ma’am, this way." Hannah said, opening the door for her. Serena tried to follow, but Hannah blocked her path.
"I’m sorry, but from this point on only the board members and staff are allowed inside." She said, keeping her at bay.
Serena laughed. "Do you even hear yourself? I’m Cassie’s mother! I’m Luther’s wife! Who do you think you are to stop me?!" She challenged, raising her voice.
Wearing a straight face, Hannah replied, "You were formerly listed as a board member, but you sold your shares. Miss Cassie is our agency’s number one talent, the people inside own shares. Just what exactly do you possess?"
"You saucy little thing!" She raised her hand to strike her, but was cut off by the sound of ongoing commotion from behind her.
Her hand suspended in the air, she looked behind her to see Ethan strutting towards them.
"Thank goodness, Ethan’s here!" She smirked. "He’ll definitely get you fired for your misconduct." She added, then walked over to meet him halfway.
However, she noticed some men dressed in black behind him. She narrowed her eyes at their strange formation. Why did it seem like they were guarding somebody?
But that was impossible. Ethan was already in front, so who could they be shielding?
She ended her thoughts and waved at him, "Ethan! It’s a good thing you’re here." She pointed at Hannah, "That rude woman has been getting on my nerves-" she was saying, only for Ethan to walk past her towards the awaiting boardroom.
Serena’s eyes went wide. "D-Di he not hear me?"
She tried to follow after them, but the bodyguards wouldn’t even let her remotely near them. As they walked away, she stole a glance through their human wall, only to catch a glimpse of a familiar face.
"Wait? What? That... That can’t be." Her jaw dropped to the floor.
Why was she here?
How was she here?
And more importantly, why was Ethan with her here of all places?
Serena tried to get into the board room after the last bodyguard had stepped inside, but Hannah had already closed the door and locked it.
"Hey! Open up!" Serena banged on the door, but her knocks barely produced a sound over the thick door. She placed her ear to the door and tried to listened in, but couldn’t make out any of the voices.
"Shit!" She hissed and pulled her phone out of her bag, then called her brother for help. If there was anyone who could save her then it just had to be her Julian.
But to get to Julian, she needed her brother to help cover Cassie’s tracks.
Meanwhile, inside, Cassie had barely waited for the new president and had already lost interest in the meeting. She just wanted to know if she could rope the new owner into solving this new issue with Brooke and Ethan.
"What the hell? She asks to meet and she’s late?!" Cassie slapped her palms on the table, startling the other people in the room.
"Miss Cassie, please be a bit more patient, she will be here in a short while-"
Cassie cut her off. "Is this some joke? Where is my financé?! Why wasn’t he invited to this meeting?! He is a share holder after all!" Him, and the Grayson heir.
But Cassie was slowly losing hope of being able to see that man again.
Once again, someone tried to serenade her, "It’s fine, just calm down and take deep breaths. Mr Halton was informed, but it seems he’s running late."
Running late? She laughed. ’That dog must’ve crawled on his hands and feet to his idiotic wife! They both piss me off so badly!’ she resolved in her head to release the photos after the meeting with the president, and make Brooke deeply regret messing with her.
"Ah! Mr Halton has arrived!" Someone announced, dragging Cassie out of her thoughts.
"About damn time." She huffed, turning her attention to the door.
However, she frowned when she started counting the number of people coming into the room.
She got up and made her way over to him. "Ethan! I’ve been trying to call you all day! Did you lose your phone or something-" she was saying, only to be cut off by the sudden entrance of the last person she expected to see at the agency.
Answering, her question, Brooke said, "That’s odd, because he answered my call at the first ring." she cracked a polite grin, "Isn’t it, Miss Crane?" she asked with taunting eyes...
