Chapter 298: Wouldn’t Miss It For The World
Brooke woke up to a stir online about the movie’s release. She had planed to use the day to find Sadie and follow up on her brother’s case.
"Mrs Grayson, these bitches really are relentless." Hannah said, reading through the articles that surfaced overnight.
But the articles were the least of her problems. She kept her gaze on her laptop, at the video she had been watching before Hannah came in.
She turned the volume up a bit, her worried eyes trained on the screen.
Becca Stole, a leading movie critic had just posted a discussion about both upcoming movies and her predictions was what caused the stir.
"If I’m being honest, we all know that Ava has been working hard for the past few years, rebuilding her career, it’ll be her first movie in a while as the leading role. With her years of talent and experience, I’d say the film is worth checking out." She started off.
Brooke had seen the link to this video in the comments of a nasty article about her and tapped on it.
"What? A million views overnight?!" Hannah spat out, her eyes widened in shock.
Brooke replied, "Apparently she was live last night answering questions from her fans. That’s when someone asked about-" cutting her off, Becca went on.
"Some people could learn a thing or two from her. Instead of stealing roles and sleeping with sponsors, they should’ve spent more time honing their skills." Becca said, her words erupting floods of gifts and comments.
She cackled, clapping her hands, "Did either of those women think that we’d accept their crap? I’m sorry, but I can just tell when a movie is going to be a huge flop. Two actresses with no real experience, there’s something I’d pay good money to see!"
A comment came in, : But Damien going to be in it. No?
After reading the comment out, Becca replied, "It isn’t the first time an A list actor has done something of the sort. He’s probably just killing time, I mean he’s abroad now filming what I hear will be a blockbuster movie. We shouldn’t take his role in this film so seriously."
Hannah groaned, "This bitch. What sort of review is this?"
Brooke pinched her chin, "This has Cassie written all over it."
"I agree, I wouldn’t put it past her to try something so underhanded. Just look at all these comments, as if you haven’t had a hard enough time already!" Hannah ran her fingers through her hair.
Becca went on, "Especially that Brooke, she has no prior experience whatsoever, I hear the only reason she’s in the movie is because of her involvement with a sponsor! Isn’t she being too ambitious?"
A comment read: My sister never got the chance to audition for the role. She’s been working her ass off too!
Becca nodded, "Right?! Not to mention the president of their company, Lucas. After he screwed up his family’s business, he’s trying his hand in the entertainment business. If it wasn’t for his sponsors, who the hell would’ve given him the time of day?"
She went on, "And don’t get me started on Sadie. How jealous can you get? I mean, she could’ve stuck with Cassie and gradually amped her popularity, but her greed got the better of-" Brooke turned off the laptop and slammed it shut.
"Are you okay Mrs-"
"I’m fine!" She got up, "I can’t let something so trashy cloud my thoughts."
"I agree, but we should do something, your movie isn’t even out yet, but the reviews are horrible. Maybe we should ask Mr Grayson for help." She suggested.
"No, this is fine. Let things stay the way they are." Brooke said.
"Mrs Grayson." Hannah groaned, "Are you certain?"
Brooke nodded, "Trust me, I’ve been in the entertainment industry long enough, in times like this, we should do absolutely nothing."
Doing nothing seemed to anger the general public, with no statement from Brooke, people began to see her as a snubbish kind of celebrity.
And as the date for the movie premier drew closer, all the attention had shifted from generally badmouthing the movie, to badmouthing Brooke specifically.
"Hahaha! That stupid bitch! Look at how many people are on her case! Her movie premiers tomorrow and everyone’s hating on her!" Cassie cackled, picking out clothes to wear.
Her agency had given her tickets to the premier, and she made sure that she would look her best.
She turned to Hannah, "Have you ever seen such a pathetic woman? Did she think people were going to be sympathetic and take her side? What a dreamer!"
Hannah smiled, "She does not hold a candle to you Miss Cassie."
Cassie held a gown to her chest, "That much is obvious. I can’t wait to see how things at the premier goes down tomorrow! It’ll be good to see the look on her face at the cinema tomorrow." She cracked a mischievous grin.
As she said that, Serena came in. Upon seeing Hannah, her countenance fell. "You can leave us." She said, excusing Hannah.
But Cassie refused it, "What’s the matter with you? What are you here for?"
Serena was stunned, "I don’t think you should be attending this premier. Your pregnancy is getting heavier." And so are your mood swings, she wanted to add, but didn’t want to risk riling Cassie up.
She seemed to have gotten through to Cassie, but her assistant, quickly inserted, "I beg to differ. Miss Cassie was specially invited, she’d look bad if she didn’t attend."
"No one asked for your opinion, you’re just an assistant!" Serena snapped at her.
"And you’re just Luther’s wife! Don’t think you can tell me what I can or cannot do. I’m going to the movie premier." She retorted harshly.
Rubbing her shoulders, Serena tried to serenade her, "My dear, just try to understand where I’m coming from. Do you want to risk seeing that classless wench tomorrow night? She’ll just ruin your mood..."
Once more, Hannah interjected, "But Brooke Larson isn’t the only person miss Cassie would see. Or have you forgotten ma’am, that tomorrow both movies are premiering?" She reminded her.
Serena blinked twice, "Cassie is that true?"
Cassie grinned from ear to ear, "You see mother, I was invited to both movie premiers, so it’s crucial I make an appearance. I wouldn’t miss tomorrow for the world."
