Capítulo 1598: Chapter 1598: Married to the Person She Loves

“Aunt May!” Lana Fern was evidently a bit nervous. She lowered her head deferentially, “Please don’t be upset. I have no ill intentions. After all, if not for some things, Mr. Cheney should have been my brother-in-law. How could I not wish for his well-being…”

“Qiana hasn’t treated the Fern Family poorly. Over the years, I’ve heard that Sylvan often visited you all in Lonton. There’s a story called ‘Mr. Dongguo’; I hope you won’t become the villains of the story.” Aunt May’s voice was gentle, carrying a calm unique to her age.

Even if her heart was turbulent, with waves surging, she clearly knew what thoughts should and shouldn’t linger.

She was no longer a girl in her twenties.

“Aunt May, the Fern Family has always held a sense of gratitude towards the Cheney Family, without any grievances. It’s just that back then, Mr. Cheney’s mother wished on her deathbed for Mr. Cheney to marry my sister, but Mr. Cheney broke his word.”

“That wasn’t breaking a promise; that was taking responsibility,” Aunt May said softly. “If Sylvan truly married Yolanda, neither of them would be happy.”

“My sister loved Mr. Cheney deeply. Wasn’t my sister good?” Tears choked Lana’s voice as she thought of her late sister, Yolanda Fern, her heart filled with sorrow.

“Love isn’t one-sided. One-sided love is doomed to be unhappy.” Aunt May didn’t know how to explain to Lana, so she just sighed deeply.

Qiana was the same back then. Because she loved Teagan Cheney, she insisted on marrying him, even against the advice of friends and family.

When young, love is like a moth to a flame, reckless and heedless.

Back then, many pursued Qiana, but she chose Teagan Cheney.

Teagan Cheney had nothing, but even as a girl in her twenties, she could see that Teagan didn’t love Qiana; he loved her wealth and status.

Yet, those ensnared by love are always irrational.

Even a clever girl like Qiana was fooled completely by Teagan Cheney.

She still remembered the day Qiana married Teagan, Qiana joyfully hugged her and said, “May, I’m so happy, marrying someone I love. You must marry someone you love too.”

Aunt May still remembered the happy expression on Qiana’s face, a true happiness from the heart.

At the wedding, everyone blessed Qiana and Teagan.

Unfortunately, if blessings were enough, there wouldn’t be so many tragic partings in this world.

After the marriage, Teagan increasingly siphoned Qiana’s assets, dowry, and collections, eventually revealing his true nature.

Aunt May thought of these things with a sigh.

For so many years…

Later, Teagan had a mistress and simply moved abroad, living a carefree and unrestrained life, neglecting his wife and child.

He only returned to see Qiana after she passed away.

Sadly, by then Qiana was already gone, never to see him again.

Aunt May knew Qiana hated Teagan Cheney, but also knew that even in death, Qiana still loved him.

Sometimes love is like a poison, incurable once tainted.

Aunt May smiled. In their persistence with love, Sylvan Cheney was much like his mother, unwavering.

However, Sylvan was wise and rational; he understood how to maintain balance.

A hint of light shone in Aunt May’s eyes; she didn’t want to meddle in Sylvan’s affairs or lecture him from an elder’s perspective.

Right or wrong, true or false, like drinking water, only the fish knows whether it’s warm or cold.
