Chapter 1603: Chapter 1603: Pregnant Women Should Not Keep Cats
Yukon Carbon nodded after hearing what Jasmine Yale said. "Alright, then I’ll wait for you to come back?"
"It shouldn’t be too long before I go to Cakago. But... he’s coming with me."
Jasmine Yale’s voice was not loud, but Yukon Carbon still heard it clearly.
He wasn’t the type to be stubborn and just smiled. "Is he coming to study abroad too?"
"No, his company is based in Cakago, so he’s coming with me."
"That’s pretty nice, come together then. If you let me know in advance, I can pick you both up and bring Sweet Kitty along."
"Thank you, Yukon." Jasmine Yale sincerely thanked him. In a foreign land, Yukon Carbon was the kindest person to her.
"Meow—" A cat’s call came through on the other end.
Jasmine Yale laughed with delight. "Sweet Kitty!"
"Meow—"
She laughed so happily she was about to roll on the bed. "Sweet Kitty, Sweet Kitty, did you miss Jasy?"
During the loneliest and most unbearable days in Cakago, she hadn’t forgotten how Sweet Kitty had always been by her side.
"Meow—" The cat on the other end meowed cheerfully, alternating between long and short cries.
Just then, Sylvan Cheney pushed the door open and came in.
He thought Jasmine was still asleep, but instead, she was holding her phone, smiling ear to ear on the call. So much so that when he entered, she didn’t even notice.
"Have you been eating properly? Have you been behaving yourself and not giving anyone trouble? If you’re good, Jasy will let you stay with Little Black." Jasmine teased the little one over the phone.
This felt almost like talking to her own child.
Sylvan Cheney leaned against the corner of the wall, legs slightly crossed, and squinted at Jasmine lying on the bed.
Jasmine chattered on for a while longer before finally noticing Sylvan’s presence.
"Yukon, I have to go eat dinner now. Talk another day." Jasmine hung up the phone, hiding it behind her back, and grinned cheekily at Sylvan.
The just-awakened Jasmine had a rosy complexion, with a blush spreading across her face like a blooming peach blossom.
Her dark hair spread over her fair shoulders, the contrast of black and white exuding a boundless allure and charm.
"Nothing much, I was just catching up a little." Jasmine proactively reported to Sylvan.
"Oh, I don’t mind," Sylvan replied nonchalantly.
"..." Jasmine pouted, clearly unconvinced.
"Come down for dinner, it’s all ready. I made it," Sylvan said, walking to the bed and leaning over her with his hands planted on either side.
"You’re in such a good mood today?"
"Been busy all afternoon."
"Well, I need to get up then." Jasmine looked at him, "I wanted to tell you something. Would you mind if we had a few more cats at home?"
Sylvan felt a headache coming on. "..."
"My Sweet Kitty has started dating. You know... with dating, there will naturally be little love crystallizations afterward... Would you... would you mind that?" Jasmine asked hesitantly, her eyes darting nervously toward Sylvan.
"I’d mind."
"..." Jasmine pouted. "Forget I said anything."
"You can’t even take care of yourself, let alone raise cats. Pregnant women shouldn’t even be around cats."
"I’m not pregnant though," Jasmine muttered, her delicate fingers hooking around his neck. "Come on, let’s go have dinner."
As she wrapped her arms around his neck, he naturally scooped her up in his embrace.
He carried her to the bathroom first for a quick wash-up before taking her downstairs.
The dining table was already laden with dinner, beautifully plated and aromatic, clearly Sylvan’s handiwork.
The lights in the dining area had been adjusted to the most intimate, warm orange hue, and the silk flowers on the table gave off a soft, elegant glow.
In the tender light, it felt serene and peaceful.
