Chapter 1556: Chapter 1556: Will Not Have Another Child
However, her heart was pounding.
“If there’s no problem, we’ll go to Cakago.”
“Okay.” Jasmine Yale lowered her head to eat, not saying much.
She knew that Sylvan Cheney always had his own ideas and thoughts. At least now he would share some of what’s on his mind with her.
She didn’t expect too much either; some things simply can’t be forced.
After knowing him for eighteen years, she gradually understood that he wasn’t someone who liked being controlled by others. He liked to seize his own destiny.
If he didn’t mention having more children in the future, she wouldn’t bring it up again either.
She knew he wasn’t very fond of kids. Now that he already had a son, he probably wouldn’t want another child.
After dinner, Jasmine Yale received a text from Ann Nolan.
The text said she had boarded the plane and was heading back to Old York, not to worry.
Jasmine Yale knew that the emotions Ann held within were something no one else could fully empathize with.
A man she had known since college, with whom she shared a bed for so long, was gone. Jasmine could only imagine the depth of her pain.
Jasmine Yale sat on the sofa, holding a tablet.
Riceball lay quietly at Jasmine’s feet, sometimes standing up to play with her for a bit.
The email from Sylvan Cheney was in her inbox, all in English.
Jasmine Yale focused intently, translating it word by word.
A project proposal, a very complex thing.
Sylvan Cheney sat across from her with a laptop on his lap.
“Husband, how do you translate ‘liquidate assets’?” Jasmine Yale bit her finger, her eyes on the screen.
“Asset liquidation.”
“Oh, and how about ‘collateralize’? I forgot what it means…”
“Guarantee.”
Sylvan Cheney patiently taught her, and Jasmine Yale listened diligently.
“Write down what you don’t know. It will be useful in the future.”
“Okay.”
Jasmine’s fair fingers slid across the tablet screen. It was her first time translating such material, and she was indeed not very skilled.
But to be with him in the future, and even help at his company, she gritted her teeth and learned bit by bit.
Her math was inherently not good, and seeing numbers gave her headaches.
To compensate for this weakness, she habitually reviewed any place with numbers multiple times, afraid of making mistakes.
Even though she knew Sylvan Cheney would have the document proofread several times, she still wanted to do a good job on the first pass.
The living room was very quiet.
This feeling gave Jasmine Yale a sense of disorientation, as if she had returned to the days of school.
It was almost the same.
Back then, he worked in the study, and she sat on the sofa accompanying him.
There was no Riceball back then.
Whenever she thought of Zaiden Santos, she cherished such moments even more.
Even if they can’t grow old together in the future, at least… she once had it.
Thinking of this, Jasmine Yale’s heart throbbed slightly, and her hand stopped typing.
Her eyes glazed with a distant, dreamy light.
Perhaps the stories of Zaiden Santos and Ann Nolan cast a heavy shadow in her heart, causing her to feel a bit cold all over.
Sylvan Cheney was rather indifferent. Upon seeing an email, he frowned slightly and put down the laptop.
“I’m going to the balcony to have a smoke.”
“Okay.” Jasmine Yale nodded.
Sylvan Cheney left, and Jasmine Yale stared at his back for a long time.
Inside her, there was still an empty feeling.
On the balcony, Sylvan Cheney made a phone call to Jesse Rowan.
“Jesse Rowan, did you fire the finance director?”
