Chapter 252: Chapter 86: Barbecue Feast_3

Seeing that Yiyi’s mouth was clean and there were no traces of the meat, Du Xixi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Barbecue skewers have some substances that are not good for the body. They are delicious but somewhat harmful, so even adults can’t eat too much, let alone Yiyi, who is still drinking milk.

"Ah ah!" Yiyi pouted, wanting to take a bite, but how could they let him eat it? Ke Xing took a big bite, finishing the remaining meat on the skewer, then shook the empty skewer playfully a short distance in front of Yiyi’s eyes, "Hehe, no more!"

"Ah! Ah! Ah!" Yiyi was somewhat flustered by his grandfather’s actions and began to climb up Ke Xing’s arm, but how could he, who wasn’t even as heavy as a large goose, be a match for Ke Xing?

Ke Xing lifted his hand slightly, and Yiyi, bundled up like a ball, was picked up. To tell the truth, Yiyi swayed a bit while being lifted, like a little bouncing ball.

Anyway, Ke Xing would never let anything happen to his grandson. Du Xixi and Ke Lian didn’t interfere with the grandpa-grandson interaction and buried themselves in their meal. But soon, Er Er, who was resting in Ke Lian’s arms, started to feel a bit restless, awkwardly moving his neck.

"Oh, does our Er Er want to eat too?" Ke Lian was waiting for this, so before indulging in the barbecue, he deliberately waved them in front of Er Er’s little nose before acting like savoring them.

Du Xixi was getting full, nibbling slowly on a skewer of potato slices to cleanse her palate. She leaned against the high cushion that 2569 had delivered, smiling at the amusing father and son interaction.

Er Er furrowed his little brows, a spitting image of Ke Lian. He seemed to know he shouldn’t eat these aromatic foods and even disapproved of his brother’s failed attempt to sneak one, but he couldn’t resist any longer, making him look terribly embarrassed.

"Er Er is a good child. Once you and your brother grow up, you’ll be able to eat!" When it came to the kids, Ke Lian didn’t show favoritism but couldn’t help but soften his heart towards his quiet Er Er, so like himself.

And of the two brothers, Er Er resembled Du Xixi more.

Whether he understood or not, Er Er couldn’t tell Du Xixi and Ke Lian. He just gazed at the skewers for a while, seemingly making up his mind, then directly closed his eyes, turned his head, and pretended to sleep on Ke Lian’s shoulder.

"Hahaha." Ke Lian laughed, gently patting Er Er on the back. After finishing the skewer in his hand, he stopped eating.

Of the two large trays of skewers, Du Xixi hadn’t even eaten a third of one, while Ke Lian had already polished off an entire tray. Considering his appetite, he should be full by now.

The couple had stopped eating, leaving Ke Xing, still trying to keep Yiyi from the skewers, the only "contestant" left in the field.

He continued eating heartily, not forgetting to show off to Yiyi every now and then. Finally, Yiyi snapped.

"Ah! Waahhh!" Little Yiyi, who had never cried so loudly, pouted, his exquisite face reddened from the tears, clearly on the verge of a meltdown.

Seeing this, Ke Xing lost all appetite for the skewers, quickly tossing the potato slices back onto the tray, then cradling Yiyi in his arms, soothing, "There, there, it’s grandpa’s fault! Don’t cry, don’t cry..."

But Yiyi merely hiccupped through his cries, seeming disinclined to be consoled by Ke Xing, pushing against him as if rejecting his embrace entirely.

Left with no choice, Du Xixi reached out to cradle her eldest son, who looked ever so pitiful as he cried. In his mother’s gentle arms, Yiyi finally began to settle down.

But the now-composed Yiyi seemed much quieter and had lost all interest in the skewers.

Ke Xing looked at Yiyi with deep regret, but as soon as he approached, Yiyi turned away, uninterested in Ke Xing, displaying an unmistakable expression, "Don’t come over, I’m angry," which only deepened Ke Xing’s remorse.

"If I’d known, I wouldn’t have teased him." Ke Xing patted his thigh, worried that his grandson wouldn’t pay attention to him in the future, but then puzzled over it, "I used to tease Ah Lan with Nutrition Supplements when he was little, and he didn’t get mad?"

"Can you really compare Nutrition Supplements to barbecue skewers?" It wasn’t that Ke Lian intended to contradict, nor did he hold any grudge against Nutrition Supplements, but compared to the colorful and flavorful skewer, Nutrition Supplements are simply... no match!

Listening to Ke Lian, Ke Xing froze for a moment, clearly knowing that Nutrition Supplements couldn’t compare to skewers. But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out any way to make amends, so he helplessly blinked his big eyes, looking pleadingly at Du Xixi.

Maybe if the child’s mother spoke a word or two, Yiyi wouldn’t stay mad?

Du Xixi smiled wryly, seeing Yiyi worn out from crying and barely drifting off to sleep. She whispered to Ke Xing, "Dad, little kids have poor memory. Why don’t you take Yiyi and Er Er for a nap in the tent and rest a bit? Once Yiyi wakes up, it’ll all be fine."

Kids are unpredictable; what happened just moments ago might be forgotten soon, and they’re so young, they do everything unconsciously, rarely remembering anything. Ke Xing needn’t be too distressed.
