Chapter 247

Chapter 247: 247

While thinking of a way to take care of the bleeding around her brain, Michelle kept her eyes closed.

It was for a simple reason.

Because of the poison, she had lost her sight and sense of smell.

She knew it was only temporary because her healing abilities would take care of it before it could become permanent.

But she still didn’t like the feeling of not seeing anything while having her eyes open. That was why she kept them closed. So she wouldn’t have to think about it.

With her full focus on her spirit and soul energy, Michelle took a hold of her soul energy and sent a mass of it to her head. Then, she felt an uncomfortable tightness under her skull as she had it solidify.

It felt disgusting and her head throbbed because of it, but it was necessary if she wanted to control the blood.

And even if it was the wrong way, she had to try.

Michelle was the type of person who thought the trial and error way was the best to learn to do things.

That way she could not only do a new thing, but also learn from her mistakes what not to do when doing something similar.

Moving the solidified soul energy around the blood that had spilled out, Michelle pushed on it to get it towards the veins, but all she got was the blood spilling around the soul energy.

But she was able to force the spirit energy to move.

Though it wasn’t enough to make the blood move along with it.

So the way wasn’t usable. Even after so much effort, Michelle didn’t achieve anything.

With a frown, Michelle thought about what she could do with soul energy and its traits.

After some time, she once again sent soul energy into her head.

She didn’t solidify it.

Instead, she had it spread around in its natural mist form, completely surrounding the blood and spirit energy within it.

Then, she started shrinking the mist around the blood.

When the mist came in contact with the blood, nothing happened. The blood stayed in place and the mist passed over it.

But the reaction was different upon contact with spirit energy.

Then, the spirit energy had no choice but to shrink back.

At first, the blood didn’t react to it in any way, but when Michelle kept pushing with the soul energy, the blood started moving a bit.

It was more of a soft twitch closer whenever the spirit energy got too far rather than significant movement, but there was some movement.

That was crucial.

Michelle was on the right way.

And since that was the case, she decided to do something radical.

She knew it could be dangerous, but she didn’t mind. She just wanted to try it out. To know what it would do.

Sending more and more soul energy into her head, she had it all join the original soul energy.

And then, with a sharp thrust, she had it all shrink together at once, pushing the surrounded spirit energy together.

Finally, she had all the soul energy solidify around the spirit energy, creating a tight, prison-like black ball. And it was quite small so she didn’t really even feel the disgusting feeling of something pressing on her brain.

Of course, she felt it slightly, but not all that much. It was at least bearable.

But the next thing she wanted to do with it would definitely feel disgusting to an extreme.

With a single command, she controlled the black ball to fly towards the broken vein and go inside. Then, she had it travel through the vein, against the bloodstream, deep into the body.

But before doing that, she left some soul energy on the opened part of the vein to block it. So no more blood would flow out.

It was a one-way blockage, so blood couldn’t get out, but it could get in.

Controlling the soul energy to go through the vein lower and lower until it reached the neck, Michelle could feel the blood outside the void starting to move faster.

It pushed through the cap she made with her soul energy and got into the vein.

Then came the disgusting feeling. The blood started pushing against the rest of the blood, going in the opposite way of the flow.

Michelle showed a grimace and released the spirit energy in the black ball.

It sped around the rest of the blood and went to the blood that was going against the rest of the stream.

They mixed together and then mixed in with the rest of the blood.

Finally, Michelle moved her soul energy to the opening on the vein and put it there to prevent any more leakage.

But she couldn’t really call it a success.

If she left the soul energy there, her healing abilities couldn’t get to work, resulting in two things.

First, she would have to forever keep her soul energy on the vein to prevent bleeding, and, second, she would forever lose her sight and sense of smell because the part of the brain controlling it would stop working from loss of oxygen.

Luckily, Michelle had thought of a way to solve it.

Until the vein got healed, she would recreate the missing, corroded-away section with her soul energy. But she would make it a tad bit wider, so it wouldn’t obscure the healing.

So she got to work once again.

There was an unnecessary amount of soul energy blocking the flow of the blood, so she took some of it. Adding some new soul energy to it, she had it form a solid tunnel connecting the part of the vein with the blood and the part that was basically empty.

When they were connected, she let some blood flow, to see whether it wouldn’t leak from somewhere.

And when it didn’t, she slowly removed the cap on the vein.

She didn’t remove it all at once, because she didn’t know whether the soul energy could withstand the sudden flow of blood at once. And she didn’t want to find out the hard way.

So by slowly widening the bloodstream, she safely had the blood flow again.

"Haa..." With a sigh, Michelle opened her eyes. Her sight was slowly returning to her. She was already able to see a blurry mess.

"Nyx, is my master trying to kill me?" she asked with a careless smile.

"He knows your capabilities, so he wouldn’t give you poison that would kill you. At least not right away," Nyxaroth answered truthfully.

That made Michelle’s smile widen. "So he’s giving me cooldown to figure out how to deal with the poison."

"What makes you think so?" Nyxaroth wasn’t all that knowledgeable in poison, so he didn’t really know what was wrong.

So Michelle had to explain.

When giving her the poison, Mavreth had no way of knowing which of her veins the poison would attack. In other words, it could have corroded away part of a big vein and she would have died of internal bleeding.

"Do you really think so?" Nyxaroth was skeptical. "What if there is a way to control where the poison attacks?"

Michelle shrugged. "Then I would crown my master a genius." If Mavreth really knew a way to control where in blood a poison would flow, and she was able to find out how he did it, she would gain an arsenal of new poisons.

After her talk with Nyxaroth, Michelle stood up and prepared to go to the library. She understood how the poison worked, at least the majority of it, so she needed to learn a thing or two about herbs and materials used in poison.

She needed something that would coat itself with slime upon contact with blood. And then something that could slowly corrode the slime away.

In the library, she picked up a few books and leaned against the bookshelf to read. She knew it would take her a long time to find what she needed.

And even if she found a herb with the properties she needed, if it was too rare or unattainable in the area, she would need to look for another herb.

She did think about going to the apothecary to ask whether they had herbs of the properties she needed, but she didn’t really want to advertise that she was once again making poison.

Also, she was sure that if she went there, she would meet someone annoying again.

So she decided to hole herself up in the library, in a section where no one really ever went.

The first day, Michelle couldn’t find anything in the books, so, in the evening, she went to her room to sleep.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t allowed to stay in the library overnight, otherwise she would have used the time to continue searching.

The next day, still in her room, she once again took the poison, but beforehand, she spread her soul energy around her veins, creating a new layer. She didn’t know where it would get corroded away, so she decided to protect everything.

But a shock overcame her when she realized that it once again attacked the vein nurturing the part of her brain controlling her sight and sense of smell.

That meant she had to research the poison more.
