Chapter 363: Chapter 361: Teach You a Lesson

Jian Xi immediately called Wan Yu’s secretary.

Soon, the call connected.

"Miss Jian? Are you looking for Sister Yu?"

"Yes, where is she?"

Recently, things haven’t been calm, and I’m so afraid the people around me will be implicated because of me, especially since I just offended Fu Wenxin in front of so many people. I’m not afraid Fu Wenxin will target me; I’m more afraid he’ll go after those close to me. My brothers are capable; it would be difficult for him to even think of harming them. My parents are at the old family home; he’s even less likely to target them. The only one around me who could be in danger is Wan Yu!

A sense of foreboding washed over Jian Xi when Wan Yu didn’t answer her phone.

"She took a call and left. That was half an hour ago, and she hasn’t returned. We’ve made several calls, but her line is always busy. Sister Yu is never like this. We were even wondering if we should ask if she’s with you..."

Jian Xi’s heart sank.

She immediately ordered, "Have everyone in the company drop whatever they’re doing and use all their connections to find Wan Yu. Call me immediately if there’s any news."

Jian Xi threw on her coat, grabbed her car keys, and dashed out.

As her car headed toward New Fashion Media, a large truck suddenly came speeding out from the opposite lane. The blinding headlights seared Jian Xi’s eyes. Squinting, she wrenched the steering wheel, narrowly avoiding the truck. Before she could react, another car slammed into her from behind.

BANG!

Jian Xi’s car skidded more than ten meters. Then, another SUV shot out onto the straight road, charging aggressively towards her. Her pupils dilated as she stared at the scene unfolding before her. In that split second, with no time to think, Jian Xi leaped from the car.

The car that had hit her from behind scraped Jian Xi as she jumped, sending her tumbling several meters. Jian Xi lay on the ground, spitting blood, her gaze fixed fiercely on the person inside the SUV opposite her!

I’ve seen him before! That’s Fu Wenxin’s deputy! I saw him at the club!

Onlookers gathered, cursing.

"Are you insane? What kind of driving is that? This is a pedestrian walkway!"

"Who is that? So reckless! Driving that fast, are you trying to meet the King of Hell?"

"Hey, miss! Get up, quick! Oh no, she’s bleeding!"

"Quick, call an ambulance!"

Someone shouted, and the crowd erupted into chaos.

Jian Xi stretched out her hand towards the person in the SUV and cried out, "Catch him! He’s the murderer..."

Then, she fainted.

「 」

When Jian Xi woke again, she saw Fu Wenxin standing opposite her. She struggled to sit up, the movement aggravating her superficial wounds, and she gritted her teeth in agony.

Fu Wenxin, leaning on a cane with a faint smile on his face, said, "Miss Jian, you truly are lucky. To survive even that."

Jian Xi trembled with rage.

That rotten bastard!

He plays dirty when he can’t win fair and square! People say Fu Shengyuan is cunning, but this old bastard’s methods are even more despicable! Attacking someone in broad daylight! If I hadn’t reacted in time, I would’ve been crushed to a pulp by those colliding cars!

"Fu Wenxin!" Jian Xi snarled, grinding her teeth.

He looked unconcerned. "Miss Jian, don’t be angry. With such severe injuries, you should focus on recuperating. Be careful your wounds don’t reopen and leave scars. Otherwise, you’ll lose the very asset you use to charm men with that pretty face of yours."

"Oh, and by the way, if my assistant hadn’t brought you to the hospital in time today, you might have lost your life. Consider this a lesson. You should be grateful, Miss Jian!"

HEH!

Jian Xi was so enraged she laughed, a sound devoid of humor.

She clenched the white bedsheets tightly. Fu Wenxin lifted his chin. "This contract belongs to Tianyao Group, and no one else. Miss Jian, you just focus on resting for now. As for this ’accident,’ we’ll have it investigated and make sure you receive a satisfactory explanation."

With that, he leaned on his cane and walked out deliberately, step by step, under Jian Xi’s hateful glare.

As soon as he left, nurses and doctors hurried in.

"How are you feeling? Any discomfort?"

Jian Xi shook her head.

This isn’t the time for helpless rage. Since that bastard dared to do this, he must have made thorough preparations. This car crash was meticulously planned. But Wan Yu... what happened to her?

BANG!

The door was violently pushed open, and Wan Yu stormed in. Seeing Jian Xi on the hospital bed, tears immediately welled up and streamed down her face.

"How did you end up like this?"

She’d just heard the news, seen the reports, and immediately used her connections to suppress further information before rushing to the hospital.

After Jian Xi explained what happened, Wan Yu, fuming, rolled up her sleeves. "That old bastard! Daring to play dirty! I’m going to tear him apart!"

Wan Yu walked to the door and looked back. When Jian Xi didn’t stop her, Wan Yu gritted her teeth. "Alright, I’m going! Really, I’m going?"

Jian Xi replied calmly, "Go ahead, if you’re not afraid Fu Wenxin will have you skinned alive, your bones scraped clean, and your remains tossed onto the street."

"You’re just trying to scare me!"

Wan Yu returned, grumbling, and handed Jian Xi a cup of water. "This guy’s background is definitely not simple, to cause such a huge disturbance in so little time, and even use the power of online media to try and spread the news of your car accident worldwide. He’s most likely trying to sow discord and deal a heavy blow to both the Jian Group and the Haohan Group. You couldn’t even find a way to take him down decisively. If I go over there now, I’ll probably be arrested as a lunatic."

"He’s deeply scheming. I’m no match for him; I’m self-aware enough to know that."

After all she had been through, Wan Yu was no longer the rash, naive young woman she once was.

This whole conspiracy definitely wasn’t planned overnight. It was meticulously orchestrated, leaving no trace. They could even disguise the car crash as a mere accident. Such cunning, calculation, methods, and the power behind him... it was all deeply unsettling.

"It’s a good thing you managed to block the news immediately," Wan Yu continued. "Otherwise, if Mom and Dad saw it, there’s no telling how worried they’d be. If things get chaotic on their end, never mind Yinyin’s safety, just the two of them would be enough to worry me sick."

Wan Yu truly was becoming more and more level-headed.

"Ultimately," Wan Yu said, her voice laced with guilt, "this happened because I was lured out. That’s why you were caught off guard, giving them an opening."

Wan Yu gritted her teeth. "I’d really like to see who Fu Wenxin is relying on to make such a big move, especially now that Fu Shengyuan is gone."

Jian Xi nodded.

Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without defeat. I was too impulsive. Now that I’ve suffered this hidden loss, I have to find a chance to get back at him. I’m not the type to suffer a loss in silence and just accept it.

"Oh, and make sure Fifth Brother doesn’t find out about my accident and injuries."

I’m terrified that Fifth Brother, in a fit of rage, would recklessly go and hack Fu Wenxin to pieces.

"Don’t worry, leave it all to me!" Wan Yu assured her.

For three consecutive days, Jian Xi hadn’t seen Yang Jinyu. That guy really has a temper; he’s not even answering my calls!

When Jian Xi jumped from the car, she had managed to protect her vital areas. So, aside from superficial wounds and a sprained ankle, she looked an absolute mess but, thankfully, had no internal injuries.

Her requests to the doctor for discharge were all rejected.

"You need to stay for at least seven days," the doctor insisted. "This was a serious car accident. We don’t know if there will be any lasting complications, so it’s best to conduct a thorough examination."

Unable to sway the doctor, Jian Xi could only obediently remain in her hospital room.

「Night.」

Jian Xi was drifting off to sleep when she heard the sound of her door being picked.

She jolted awake and sat bolt upright.

A shadowy figure squeezed through the doorway.
