Chapter 395: For Whom to Tell
"...Okay, guys, I have to go, so I’m saying goodbye," I say to Zephyra, Tsukuyomi, and Eclipsya with a gentle smile as I stand on the teleportation circle.
"Pandora...are you sure?...you’re not doing well," Zephyra asks with pain in her eyes, but I quickly go to her, giving her a kiss on the mouth and a tight hug before returning to my spot on the circle.
"Yes, Zephyra, don’t worry, I’m a monster, I recover from wounds quickly, see? I’m fine, and I’ll soon regain my arm..." I lie. She’s right, I’m not well enough to go into battle.
But I don’t plan to fight, I’ll just lead the troops normally through commands and see on maps how things are going, and in this case, there aren’t many risks.
"Can’t Mommy stay?" Eclipsya says, hugging my leg sadly. We had good conversations while we were here, and I even quite enjoy talking to her. I understand her obsession, and she understands mine, which generates pleasant mother-daughter moments.
"Hmm, I’d love to stay, but I can’t, honey, I have things to do," I say, crouching down to her level and giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"When I get back, I’ll help you plan the future," I whisper in her ear, and as I pull away, she has a big smile on her face.
"Pandora, be well," Tsukuyomi says, hugging me from behind out of nowhere, holding me with all her strength, which hurts.
’Clingy bitch...’ I hold back from cursing her in front of Eclipsya because of the pain, while acting like I’m not hurt by the hug.
"..."
"Are you mad?" She asks, gently caressing my body.
"No..." I push her away and shove her out of the teleportation circle with my left arm.
"You’re so cruel!" She says, not really caring. Her annoying neediness hasn’t gone away, even with a daughter to cling to.
"Just don’t cling to me, if you’re going to say goodbye, at least do it normally...and stop encouraging our daughter by agreeing with everything she says," Eclipsya told me that Tsukuyomi simply agrees with everything she says.
Which is absurd, because Eclipsya says a lot of dangerous nonsense to do with Azazel, and Tsukuyomi just stupidly agrees without understanding the dangerous implications.
When Eclipsya asks for something, she’s not speaking as a joke or a childish game, she’s seriously talking about what she’ll do in reality.
"Please have a little brain and understand, our daughter isn’t joking when she says things that would sound criminal to most people," Tsukuyomi looks at Eclipsya in surprise.
"Really, really?" She tries to talk more, but I activate the teleportation circle, ignoring her.
"Bye, love, and get ready because after the war, I’m going to lay an egg in your womb," I say, blowing a kiss to Zephyra as I disappear into the teleportation circle without waiting for her reaction.
I’ve already said goodbye to my master, so for now, I won’t return to this island until I’ve expelled the humans from my territory and started the full offensive to decimate the main human kingdom.
"..." I appear in my castle and immediately use the shadows to teleport to my throne, where I start tinkering with the system to warn the humans that the Demon King has returned to the battlefield and the heroes are dead.
"Ah, I’ve missed this..." I murmur, throwing myself onto the throne. Sitting here gives me a pleasant sense of power. The system is quickly activated and ready for a transmission. Since the transmission is only for the humans, the cost is low, and it’s almost all set up.
’I’ll make a brief announcement, after all, the lack of information is usually more frightening than knowing everything.’
"3...2...1..." I start counting down the time until the system starts transmitting my image. Considering my current power, I only have two minutes before my power starts to be consumed.
"Hello, everyone, as you must know, I am the Demon King, and we are currently at war..." I begin speaking with the transmission, a smile on my face and a generally neutral expression.
"I decided to make this transmission to warn you humans, as we are at war, you must all know that heroes are the hope of humanity and the only ones who could kill me in battle in this war," Mikael is not in the war.
He lost to me, and as agreed, he is now my husband. I don’t know where he is, but he hasn’t shown up in any battles because I made it clear that I didn’t want him causing damage in my territory.
"For generations, heroes have killed Demon Kings...with few Demon Kings having victories, but...I am not a common Demon King, I am one of the daughters of the Goddess of the Abyss."
"And just like my dear older sister...I have killed the heroes," I say with an immense smile on my face, crossing my legs. The fact that I killed the heroes and am now completely "well" will certainly destabilize humanity, and with desperation, bad decisions will begin to be made.
"As you can see, I’m perfectly fine. It seems that in the end, the heroes were just trash. It seems you trusted too much in something that had no future. In the end, they only served as mere entertainment."
"But...now it’s over. Since there are currently only two living heroes, I think the human offensive ends here, don’t you?" Only Ren and Amiya are alive, and Ren doesn’t even have the level to fight, while Amiya alone doesn’t pose a threat.
"That’s why I’ll personally lead everything and expel humans from demonic territory. Of course, since you humans made your move first, now it’s my turn, don’t you agree?"
"Prepare, humans, for I will soon arrive at your kingdom...I eagerly await the day when I personally transform you into ink that will stain the ground red..." I end the transmission, collapsing on the throne, breathing heavily.
"H-Haha, how difficult..." I’m exhausted just from manipulating the system a bit, even though I didn’t spend mana on it. There was still a physical and mental toll that fell on me.
"I think I’ll ask Lilith to heal me..." It would be good to have Lilith helping me heal the rest of my wounds. The master is powerful, but he’s not even close to being good at advanced healing magic.
"But I’ll leave that for later," I need to go to my office. In it, there’s a communication relic to talk to each side of the war. I’ll talk to Elena first and see how she’s doing.
Since Elena isn’t strong and is the one running the biggest risk, I’ll then talk to Freya and Aokitsu to see how the demonic territory’s coastal side is doing.
"I bet Lilith is having a lot of fun killing humans. It’s almost envious," I’m unable to go out and have fun killing enemies, so I can’t do that.
"She’s lucky that I’m a benevolent king, so I won’t interfere with her fun by ordering her back to the castle just to heal me," I start walking to my office.
...
...
...
"Freya...this is..." Aokitsu speaks to me as I bring back something no one would want to see. I use magic to conceal everything inside the tent we’re in.
"...It’s Lilith..." I say, biting my lips. I don’t know how this happened, and it’s terrible.
"She..."
"She’s dead, I don’t know how, but I know one thing..." When I say this, Aokitsu shivers all over. She also knows that Pandora will be furious when she finds out that Lilith is dead.
"Who...will tell her?" I ask, not wanting to be the one to deliver the news. Honestly, I can’t say I was particularly close to Lilith. We were acquainted, but not exactly friends.
The one who was Lilith’s friend was Calypso, who invited Lilith to the castle in the past, and of course, Pandora, who also treated Lilith as a friend, which makes sense since they are both racially monsters, not demons.
However, Lilith was insanely powerful, and her death is something that would shake the morale of our troops. That’s why I’m hiding the fact from the troops while I’ve brought Lilith’s body along with what she left as a "legacy" for Pandora.
"Freya, we have to decide quickly! The war continues, and I have to go back to leading my part. We’re finally managing to push them back and make them retreat. If we stop now, they’ll be able to advance!" Aokitsu speaks seriously.
"I know! But it’s not easy," Lilith was well-loved among the demons. Despite being quite lazy and sleeping a lot, she did an incredible job and helped many demons, so she was considered a saintly figure.
Her death will have a negative impact, especially since she was killed by humans, as she was considered the strongest below Pandora.
"We have to tell her, but without letting the soldiers know that Lilith is dead...one of us will have to go to the castle, from there we should be able to send messages through relics!" We can’t easily send telepathic messages to Pandora.
Some of her passives defend her very well, interfering with telepathic signals that can be considered mental attacks. That’s why we usually need to know where Pandora is and try for a while to use magic to manage to send her a telepathic message.
But now we don’t know where she is, so we can only contact her with the relics in the castle. Of course, Lilith could reach Pandora, but now that Lilith is dead, we need the relics.
"Then let’s decide quickly!" Aokitsu says, and I agree. We have to see who should stay and who should go to the castle.
