Chapter 1547: Chapter 1547: Tear Faces (5)

Xiao Ji looked at Su Hongxing for a while before saying, “Mom’s not a three-year-old. Xingxing, go to the kitchen and help me out!”

Su Hongxing had no objections and quietly followed into the kitchen to help cut the vegetables.

She was a bit distracted, unsure if the box contained what she was looking for, her heart impatient yet unable to show it on her face.

If Xiao’s mother found out the box was missing, she wondered if she would be suspected. Lost in thought, she accidentally cut her finger, and blood gushed out.

“How could you be so careless?” Xiao Ji quickly pushed Su Hongxing out of the kitchen, found a bandage, and stopped the bleeding for her: “Better wait till dinner instead of messing things up.”

Su Hongxing had no objections and sat in the living room.

After confirming Xiao Ji was in the kitchen, she called Age, lowered her voice, and said, “Age, find a way to open the box and see what’s inside. Best not to damage the lock; if it’s not important, I have to find a way to return it to the Xiao Family. Is an hour enough? I’ll call you then, don’t call me.”

Age replied, “An hour is enough.”

After the call, Su Hongxing felt somewhat relieved.

Later, Xiao’s mother bought vinegar home, and Xiao Ji made a dish of sautéed fungus slices with vinegar. It tasted pretty good.

By the time lunch was finished, nearly an hour had passed.

Seeing Xiao Ji enter the kitchen to wash dishes, she went to the grapevine and called Age: “What was in the box?”

Age was waiting for Su Hongxing’s call, excitedly said: “It’s the photos, negatives, and videos of Second Young Master and Miss Qiao. Madam is really impressive, finding this evidence so quickly.”

Su Hongxing’s anxious heart finally relaxed: “Then it’s good, as long as they’re found.”

Once these things are found, she won’t need to continue maneuvering around Xiao Ji. But there’s no good explanation to Xiao’s mother, if she finds the box missing…

“Who are you calling? What did you find!” Xiao Ji’s cold voice suddenly sounded behind her.

Su Hongxing was startled, turned around to see Xiao Ji’s cold eyes staring at her.

Xiao Ji coldly looked at Su Hongxing for a while before suddenly striding away.

Su Hongxing followed behind Xiao Ji, watched him rush into Xiao mother’s bedroom. Not long after, Xiao Ji came out furiously, grabbed her wrist, and dragged her away.

Xiao’s mother rarely saw Xiao Ji so angry, she chased after them: “Xiao Ji, what are you doing? Talk things out.”

“Xiao Mama, it’s okay, Xiao Ji and I have something to discuss privately, could you let us handle it ourselves?” Su Hongxing hurriedly reassured, afraid Xiao’s mother would worry.

Xiao’s mother scrutinized them both, uneasy, said: “Xiao Ji, you’re grown up, act sensibly, don’t scare Hongxing.”

“I know what I’m doing.” Xiao Ji said, pulling Su Hongxing away.

Although Xiao’s mother was worried, she didn’t know what they needed to discuss privately, so she could only wait anxiously for the outcome of their conversation.

Su Hongxing was dragged by Xiao Ji to a quiet corner, and coldly questioned: “Did you take the box?!”

“I took it. You shouldn’t use Xiaoqiao to threaten me; after all, she’s your friend. Your actions are increasingly crossing the line; I won’t let you harm Xiaoqiao!” Su Hongxing replied calmly, returning his cold gaze.

Xiao Ji roared in a low voice: “How did you know I hid the things under the altar? Who told you?”
