Chapter 821: Chapter 821: The Decision
After Su Yuanyuan had her fill, she drove over to find Zhang Chunsheng. She figured things on Daqing’s side wouldn’t be wrapping up so quickly.
Zhang Chunsheng was aware of what had transpired. Upon seeing Su Yuanyuan arrive, he offered her a glass of water.
"You should go rest, I’ll wait for news."
Su Yuanyuan shook her head. "No need, I’ll take a look at the report in a bit, just give me a space, I still have work. I need to get it done quickly."
Zhang Chunsheng found her insistence quite amusing; she really didn’t enjoy it.
The office was particularly quiet, with the two of them each at their own desk, heads bowed, working diligently.
Zhang Chunsheng glanced up at the woman writing furiously. He thought, Tan Shaoting must have had many such warm moments before.
Indeed, he used to be puzzled by how much Shao Ting loved his family, but now he understood.
While translating, Su Yuanyuan was feeling a surge of anger inside. What was this? Damn it, some people just don’t appreciate kindness.
After an hour, she completed the translation of a document. Su Yuanyuan put down her pen, not even tidying up, her heart filled with irritation. Such external communications were incredibly difficult. Suddenly, a wave of sadness welled up within her.
Being restricted in every way due to poverty, these days were too challenging.
Even though it’s a different world, she believed it could be done.
Zhang Chunsheng observed her expression. What could she be angry about?
"What’s wrong?"
"It’s too hard, the feeling of being belittled and bullied is just infuriating."
Zhang Chunsheng initially didn’t react, but then he stood up, walked to Su Yuanyuan’s side, and looked at the foreign document on the table, realizing what it was.
"Yes, indeed. This is actually quite normal, you see, don’t ordinary people live this way too?
If you are down and out, even your family would look down on you."
"Exactly, without becoming strong, you’re nothing."
"We will become strong. In every aspect, there are people contributing to the nation. It’s just a matter of time."
"Ugh, I was thinking of living carefree by myself, but after looking at these documents, I know Lu Chengmin has trapped me."
Su Yuanyuan did not continue, but Zhang Chunsheng understood her implication.
"We all must strive. Personal matters really don’t count for much."
At this point, Zhou Cong entered. "Big sister-in-law, they’ve finished the interrogation, Daqing is asking you to come over."
Su Yuanyuan packed up her things and left right away.
Zhang Chunsheng followed behind her; he too wanted to find out who was behind this.
The two entered the interrogation room one after the other. Su Yuanyuan saw the middle-aged woman look at her in terror.
Knowing what she was thinking, Su Yuanyuan gave a mocking smile.
She took the transcript Daqing handed over.
It only took a few minutes to read through.
"Daqing, this won’t do. You need to make her tell the truth."
"Big sister-in-law, I understand."
Daqing was very curious about how the big sister-in-law knew the woman wasn’t telling the truth. It had been the same before.
He once thought the big sister-in-law was just playing mind games, but evidently, that wasn’t the case. Could she see through people’s minds?
If so, that would be terrifying; what could be hidden from the big sister-in-law then?
Yet, there was also pride in his heart; this was the kind of outstanding person they followed.
"I still have work, you know what to do."
"Yes, big sister-in-law, I understand."
Daqing’s words carried determination. This was an affront to him, letting a woman play him.
Su Yuanyuan left, having figured out what she should do. She couldn’t just do things her own way; she needed to use her small strength to help her family become strong.
Zhang Chunsheng also reviewed the testimony. There didn’t seem to be any loopholes, but since Su Yuanyuan said so, there must be a reason.
Su Yuanyuan returned to Zhang Chunsheng’s office once again. She still had a document that needed translating.
She understood Lu Chengmin’s intentions. Although she’s not perfect, she definitely has a sense of national identity and patriotism.
She kept on with this task, head down, ignoring Zhang Chunsheng as he came in, continuing her work.
This document was rather thick; it was about an hour and a half later she finished translating it. It was the middle of the night.
She felt a bit embarrassed; she hadn’t slept and had even delayed Zhang Chunsheng.
"You rest, I’ll go take a look."
"No problem, this is how I usually work too. Don’t overthink it; let’s go together, I’m quite interested in this woman, to think she could keep it under wraps like this, it’s quite something."
The two hadn’t reached the interrogation room when they ran into Zhou Cong.
"Boss, big sister-in-law, the testimony has been recorded."
When the two reached the interrogation room, Su Yuanyuan picked up the testimony and continued reading. It was acceptable; the testimony was alright this time.
After finishing, she handed it to Zhang Chunsheng, then approached the woman.
"In such a hurry, if I were you, I wouldn’t have made my move yesterday."
The woman just kept her head down, saying nothing.
Su Yuanyuan could hear her inner thoughts. She gave a sarcastic laugh.
"Big sister-in-law."
"I have no objections; just deal with this matter according to the rules."
Daqing nodded. "I know what to do."
"Alright, I’m heading back."
"Big sister-in-law, why not wait until daylight?"
"It’s not necessary."
Zhang Chunsheng had also skimmed the document. "I’ll escort you."
Su Yuanyuan shook her head again, "No need, I can return by myself."
"I know how to handle this matter."
Su Yuanyuan nodded and went out.
Zhang Chunsheng, Daqing, and Zhou Cong all saw her off. Watching Su Yuanyuan drive away.
"Daqing, go arrest them all, don’t miss anyone."
"Understood."
Now Zhang Chunsheng had fewer concerns and wouldn’t hesitate so much. It made things much easier for the people below to get their work done.
When Su Yuanyuan got home, she went straight into the space. The next day when she got up, it was already past eight. She quickly washed up and headed to the hospital.
Yesterday, Zeng Hongling was truly frightened. Now, with her condition being special, she couldn’t afford any mishaps.
Once at the hospital, she inquired about Zeng Hongling’s ward.
Today even Yang Liulang hadn’t gone to work, with his wife like this, how could he feel at ease?
"Yuanyuan, Yuanyuan you’re back? Are you okay?"
Su Yuanyuan smiled and put down an apple, "I’m fine. I told you nothing would happen to me. How are you?"
"I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Yesterday, I was just scared at first, but I felt better as soon as I got to the hospital, really."
Zeng Hongling was afraid Su Yuanyuan would blame herself. But actually, it should be they who feel guilty, right? After all, it was the people they had brought in, and it happened under their roof.
"That’s good then. Oh, right, you should quickly find someone."
"Don’t worry, I can still manage for now, and people have already been sent over from the old home."
