Chapter 574: 574 Decision
"Wait until I’m sixteen, then we’ll talk about it. You all know how temperamental my elder sister-in-law can be."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Daqing, where do you want my elder sister-in-law to go?"
"Me? I can only make suggestions to her. As for what she thinks, we can’t decide that," Daqing replied with a wry smile.
She’s more capable than they are, and more importantly, they lack the courage to make any decisions for her.
They also don’t have the time to stay by her side for long periods; wherever she wants to go is her freedom.
Even if they wanted to stay by her side, she probably wouldn’t agree.
She’s a person who follows her heart. The eldest once said he owed her, and for him and the children, she would rather be trapped.
"Should we prepare something for her?"
"Prepare what? Director Zhang always brings things whenever he goes. But sister-in-law doesn’t seem to care much about those."
"Let it be. As long as sister-in-law is fine, we can rest assured."
On the fifteenth, Su Yuanyuan got up in the morning and went to the temple fair.
The place was already decorated. It felt particularly festive.
There weren’t many people yet, so she could wander around and take a look.
In her heart, she knew that a large part of this temple fair was about people-watching—not any particular person, but the bustling atmosphere of the crowd.
Lots of bright red lanterns were hung up; it should look beautiful at night.
She originally intended to come in the morning. She wasn’t planning to go out at night, but seeing it decorated like this, she felt she would be missing out if she didn’t go out at night.
So she only took a quick look around, planning to come back again in the evening.
When she got home, she didn’t feel like eating, so she started preparing things to bring to Yang Chunsheng in the evening. Although she had already told him not to talk about her affairs.
She wanted to emphasize it again. She wasn’t used to that feeling of being pitied or sympathized with.
All the meat at home was for him to take back. And those nutritional products, since she doesn’t eat them, might as well take them back too.
She didn’t feel like cooking. So when the time was almost right, she took out a pot of braised pork, along with rice and a pot of stewed sauerkraut.
She hadn’t prepared anything else, because she was a bit excited and just wanted to head to the temple fair right away.
This feeling hadn’t been there for so many years; it was quite refreshing.
When Yang Chunsheng came, they could eat.
"Chunsheng, I’ve prepared everything. Take it all back with you.
And don’t tell anyone in the family about my matters."
"Yuanyuan, I know. But what should I do with the things my mom and Aunt prepared for you?"
"Don’t bring them back. You know I’m leaving tomorrow. Just eat them yourself; I probably won’t come back for a year or two."
"Yuanyuan, is it really good out there?"
"I don’t know. I just don’t like staying in one place for too long."
Yang Chunsheng laughed, "Exactly! Back then, you were always running off somewhere. My mom was constantly worried. Only when you came back did she stop nagging.
Yuanyuan, just be sure to stay safe when you’re out there alone."
"I know. By the way, if you need anything, go find the person at the garrison who has the same name as you. He will definitely help."
Yang Chunsheng nodded, "Don’t worry about me. What trouble could I get into? If there’s really something, I’ll be sure to find help."
After they finished eating, Su Yuanyuan still made sure that Yang Chunsheng took the leftover food back. He could just steam it again tomorrow.
Watching him leave with bags slung over his shoulder and carrying the food containers, she hurriedly went inside, put on her coat, and headed to the temple fair.
It truly didn’t disappoint her. Everything was brilliantly red, looking very festive.
And there were so many people. Su Yuanyuan just moved along with the crowd. There were also some vendors. The items at the stalls were quite interesting.
Su Yuanyuan particularly liked handicrafts, so if she saw something she liked, she’d definitely buy it.
She bought mostly insoles, which were really beautiful. Su Yuanyuan wondered if she could really bear to put such pretty ones inside shoes.
As she kept buying, she felt especially good, her mood even lighter.
She ended up buying pillowcases with magpies on branches, along with matching door curtains.
Anyway, no matter how she looked at them, she really liked them.
She also bought a skewer of candied fruit, but honestly, it wasn’t very tasty. Mostly because there was little sugar, yet it seemed like there was a lot. This was the craft of the vendor.
There were also deep-fried cakes, freshly fried twisted bread, rice bars, and cat ears.
She bought a bit of everything, but not too much. Buying too much would leave it uneaten, and later on, it wouldn’t taste the same.
She went from one end to the other and back again, only then returning home, still reluctant to part with the experience.
Honestly, this kind of life was really nice. No fast pace, no heavy pressure; this was true happiness, right?
The next day, after having breakfast, she waited for Daqing to come over.
She could almost guess that Daqing didn’t want her to go to that village herself. No matter, she’d go when the time came.
This time it was Chengzi and Daqing who came over.
They saw that she just had a roll of luggage packed in a woven bag and two briefcases. It was really too simple.
"There are still some grains in the kitchen, bring those along too."
Neither of them objected. The things were quickly packed away.
The three of them got in the car and set off.
"Xiao Su, do you need to prepare anything else?"
"There’s no need. I don’t lack anything."
Neither of them objected. "Xiao Su, where are we going?"
"Anywhere is fine, as long as it’s by the sea."
"Alright, shall we take you to the sanatorium? The conditions there are quite good, and sometimes the leaders go there to rest."
However, people usually go there in the summer; no one goes at this time.
"Sanatorium? No, but I can live in a nearby village. I want to live by myself. I don’t want too many strangers disturbing me."
Chengzi felt a bit helpless, "Xiao Su, are you planning to hide from us?"
"A little bit."
The truth can be quite hurtful. But there was nothing they could do; they’d been rejected.
Daqing was actually quite satisfied that she didn’t have a strong demand to go anywhere. Then, they’d take her to a village by the sanatorium, far from the village where the accident happened to the eldest brother.
The reason it was the two of them who came this time was to remind the village chief there to keep this matter a secret.
Keep it hidden for as long as possible. Daqing also knew that some things can’t be forced. Maybe it was destined that sister-in-law would find out.
Su Yuanyuan didn’t care what they thought; she just wanted to find out the truth. Their thoughts could be fragmented at times, making it very troublesome to piece together.
She actually knew in her heart that, after so much time, their chances of being alive were really slim. However, she wasn’t willing to accept it. Even though they had found the man and the children, the children were manageable, but solving the issue with the man would certainly not be easy. He was her original body’s husband, after all.
