Chapter 218: Buy at 218

Yuanyuan nodded. "That’s okay too. It’s just that I don’t want to store the fertilizer. I really don’t like the smell. What’s being produced here is gas fertilizer."

"Going the official route is also pretty good."

The night was really tough; Yuanyuan was even hugging a hot water bottle in her sleep.

The next day, the three of them finished breakfast and went to the director’s office to wait.

Zhang Haisheng also felt that staying here was quite miserable; at least there was a big kang at home.

They waited for half an hour before the director arrived.

"The three of you, we’ve received instructions from above; you can buy fertilizer. How much do you want?"

"Director, is it base fertilizer or top dressing you’re selling to us?"

"Top dressing."

"Can we have fifty tons?"

Upon hearing this amount, the director frowned. The instructions from above said to give them as much as they asked for, but fifty tons was really too much.

"Dear comrades, according to normal protocol, giving you fifty tons isn’t a problem. But you have to understand, we don’t have that much in stock."

Seeing Director Sun Changfu so troubled, the three of them felt quite embarrassed.

"Director Sun, could you give us thirty tons this year and another thirty tons next year?" Yuanyuan cautiously asked.

In two years, the relationship should be well established. By then, they’ll find another way.

Sun Changfu put down his pen. "Okay, I’ll write a note for sixty tons. Clearly stating it will be divided over two years."

This put the three of them at ease, expressing their gratitude to Sun Changfu profusely.

Accountant Zhang went to make the payment. Now, there was nothing more for them to do.

"Once Accountant Zhang issues the bill, we’ll go make the payment too. Then we need to find a truck."

"Okay, you go arrange it. I’ll give you the money."

"Keep your money; what I have is enough."

"Aren’t you going to spend any money outside?"

"I should have a salary. Don’t worry. How could I run out of money?"

Yuanyuan didn’t argue any further. He was indeed working, so he should have a salary.

"Yuanyuan, are you going to the inn?"

"Sure, the inn we saw on the way—after you’re done, and everything is settled, come find me."

She honestly didn’t want to stay here any longer; it was too uncomfortable. The smell made it hard to breathe. The pollution at the fertilizer factory was quite severe.

It wasn’t that Yuanyuan was being picky; she genuinely felt unwell.

They parted ways. Yuanyuan went to the inn.

Upon arriving, there were quite a few people staying at the inn. Yuanyuan secured a room, the one furthest inside, as it felt safer.

She locked the door and entered the space. She hadn’t been inside for several days.

She relaxed in a nice bath, changed into her favorite pajamas, and prepared to sleep.

Ever since starting cultivation, the space no longer kicked her out at timed intervals.

Tan Shaoting and Accountant Zhang had both finished issuing the bills.

They went to find trucks. A truck could only carry ten tons of fertilizer, so they needed four trucks.

When they found the transport team, the folks there shook their heads upon hearing they were delivering fertilizer to the farm. The road conditions over there were terrible.

Tan Shaoting reassured them that if they couldn’t go, they would send donkey carts over to pick up, which finally secured their agreement.

They arranged to start loading the trucks the next day, and all the stock in the warehouse would be given to them.

After leaving the transport team, "Accountant Zhang, Yuanyuan went to the inn. I’m heading over too. What about you?"

"I’m going back to the fertilizer factory," but truth be told, he didn’t want to spend the money.

Tan Shaoting didn’t say much more; they parted ways.

Tan Shaoting asked for Yuanyuan’s room number at the front desk and went directly to her room.

Yuanyuan had just come out of the space, feeling refreshed and well-fed.

At the sound of the knock, she knew it was Tan Shaoting.

"Everything’s arranged."

"Hurry up and wash up, eat something."

The food on the journey was quite poor, but with others around, she had to endure it.

Tan Shaoting was really hungry too; he ate two box meals and a donkey meat sandwich.

"We can start loading at eight tomorrow morning. With four trucks traveling together, I’ll feel safe about you."

"Yuanyuan, I have to leave."

"You’re leaving already?"

Tan Shaoting nodded. "I’ll accompany you to the city; then I’ll take a bus to leave. Wait for me."

Yuanyuan’s heart tightened. "Okay, safe travels."

"Yuanyuan, don’t just brush me off, you must wait for me."

"Alright, I won’t brush you off. But you must be careful."

"I will, no one should be able to harm me.

Take care of yourself here, don’t tire yourself out, and I hope you won’t leave too."

Tan Shaoting knew his request was a bit excessive, but leaving her alone really made him uneasy.

"I’ll leave after the autumn harvest." Yuanyuan wouldn’t lie; she was definitely going out. So she couldn’t promise that.

Tan Shaoting sighed. "Alright, I understand. Be careful."

Yuanyuan wanted to say she was safer, but that would sound too harsh. Plus, you never know what kind of danger you might encounter.

The two lay in bed chatting, with Tan Shaoting giving Yuanyuan endless reminders.

He felt he could never say enough, remaining worried. Why couldn’t she just come with him? Finally, he couldn’t help but ask.

"Everyone has their own ambitions and also, that kind of work really doesn’t suit me."

Tan Shaoting really didn’t know what to say; he couldn’t persuade this girl no matter what.

The next day, they checked out and headed to the fertilizer factory. It was still early, but the trucks were already in place.

Thankfully, they didn’t have to load the trucks themselves, or that would have been exhausting.

The two of them just stood by counting.

The loading process was very quick. Since they were going to the same place, the four vehicles decided to travel together for mutual aid.

The happiest of all was Accountant Zhang. He felt like he was dreaming. The fertilizer he’d been longing for was finally bought. Although it was top dressing, it was still fertilizer, wasn’t it?

They had their lunch at the fertilizer factory cafeteria, making Accountant Zhang very satisfied.

The four trucks departed together. Of course, Tan Shaoting and Yuanyuan rode in the same truck.

Along the way, he gave more reminders, not wanting Yuanyuan to find it annoying.

The journey was really tough, and the driver had to be incredibly focused. The speed was very slow.

Finally, the four drivers discussed traveling during the day and stopping to rest at night, as the ground would thaw during the day and not be so slippery.

During a stop, Tan Shaoting pulled Yuanyuan away from the fire, which made everyone laugh, thinking the young pair were sneaking off to be affectionate in private.

"What’s up?"

"Yuanyuan, let me give you the car I have here. You might find it useful." Tan Shaoting remembered the car in the corner only after sitting in the truck and had forgotten about its existence.
