Chapter 641: End of Shenzhen Crisis
After looking around the fountain for a few minutes, a solution finally popped into his mind.
Although it required a ton of work, it was better than punching the marble and steel until his fist broke.
"Time to start digging."
Thirty minutes later...
As Xiaoyun’s hand finally reached the bottom of the fountain, he finally located the metal pipe where the red liquid was.
With just a light twist around the bolts, it instantly snaps onto the floor, exposing the red liquid into the open air.
"There it is... Now what is this thing?"
Xiaoyun could immediately feel the weight pressing down. It was well over a hundred pounds despite having around what was less than a liter of liquid.
The strong, repulsive smell almost made him throw up on the spot. But he held the urge back in as he tilted the pipe slightly.
It barely moves as it slowly slides down over to the right side of the pipe in unison, almost reminding him of how mercury is.
"Ugh, how can I store this?"
Xiaoyun tried to create a glass vial in his hand, but it instantly vanished. After standing there for a minute, an idea popped into his mind.
An entire flask appeared in his hand. But this time, it remained there rather than disappearing from his hand.
"Fused silica really worked, huh... Thank god Tianci let me touch her lab equipment in the past."
The moment he poured the liquid into the new glass flask, he could feel the air starting to increase its temperature slightly.
To fully seal it, he quickly created another glass flask, putting it directly above as a temporary cap.
This time, the temperature began rapidly increasing, heating up as if he was entering into some sort of sauna.
"Whew... Did it work?"
Xiaoyun quickly created a bottle of water, which remained in his hand rather than disappearing right before his eyes.
"Yes! Finally, I did it. I’m done!"
Just as he celebrated in excitement, the flask on top slipped, falling straight onto the floor as it shattered into pieces.
Within seconds, the bottle of water disappeared. The air temperature around Xiaoyun began rapidly cooling down with a hint of redness floating out.
"Shit!"
Xiaoyun immediately recreated the glass flask, putting it back on as he held them down together tightly.
The air temperature rapidly increased once again, telling him the fog had disappeared for one last time.
"Whew... Now I just need to find a fused silica flask lid... Where the hell am I supposed to find something like that?"
---
"Thank you so much for your time, Mr.Yiming."
"No problem."
As the journalist and the cameraman started packing up their stuff, Yiming let out a small sigh inside his head.
Although he was already interviewed earlier, the journalists were interviewing him for personal insight rather than anything job-related.
Some of the questions weren’t even related to him, ranging from ’how did Xiaoyun manage to have so many wives’ to ’his opinion on the Deputy Governor.’
It was clear they were just trying to find something juicy, forcing him to say no comment over and over again.
"Do you all need a ride back? We have cars for you guys." Yiming offered, wanting them to leave his sight on the spot.
"We’re good. Our driver is coming over with the car." One of the reports answered.
"Okay then——"
Just as Yiming was about to leave and go back into his car, the red fog on his right suddenly started to disappear.
"Camera!"
"Everyone step back!"
The soldiers immediately took a few steps back, raising their rifles out of alert as the cameramen didn’t seem to care at all.
They just kept on taking pictures right out of their minivans, documenting the fog fading away from the city.
"What did Xiaoyun do?"
Yiming wondered as he watched the fog retreat further and further until it completely vanished from sight.
What was supposed to be a pressurized zone was now a bunch of rubble, as in front of them were all the buildings that had been blown up.
"Mr.Yiming! Can I ask why all these buildings are being blown apart?" One of the report curiously asked.
"Mr.Yiming! Is this related to the Governor going inside the fog?" Another report loudly asked.
"It’s a classified military secret. Ahem, everyone, cameras off, please. You all need to leave now before I seize your cameras away."
Within seconds, the minivans all drove off into the distance, leaving only Yiming and the soldiers standing before the rubble.
"Finally, they are gone..."
"General Yiming, how did the fog disappear?"
One of the soldiers curiously asked as they still couldn’t believe the nightmare for the past weeks was over.
"I got no clue——"
Before Yiming could finish answering, a shadowy figure suddenly appeared in the distance.
A person was walking out of the rubble-covered road. Not just any person, but their commander-in-chief.
"Yo! Can someone get me a fused silica lid? I need it right now, or else the fog is going to come back out."
"Commander!"
"Xiaoyun, you..."
Yiming was a little stunned as Xiaoyun approached them completely naked, his skin looking just as red with no intention of hiding it.
"I can’t let this thing go. I know I’m not wearing anything... Can someone help me hold this and give me some clothes?"
Several of the soldiers rushed forward to help, but Xiaoyun didn’t hand it over right away as he signaled one of the soldiers to use both hands.
"This thing is really, really heavy. Don’t underestimate how small it looks."
After the soldier nodded, Xiaoyun tried to transfer the flask over, only for the soldier to almost drop it onto the floor.
"Never mind. I’ll carry this myself... Can someone just find some clothes to wrap me in?"
"What’s this liquid? Is it really that heavy?"
Yiming questioned as he walked up with a piece of towel, wrapping it around his legs as temporary pants.
"This is the thing that’s causing all that fog. All concentrated and trapped inside here." Xiaoyun answered.
All of the soldiers, including Yiming, were a little dumbfounded as they couldn’t believe something so little caused them so much trouble.
"Come, we’re going to walk back to the base. I’m not going to risk sitting in a car with this having no lid on."
---
Before they could make it back to the base, the news of the fog’s disappearance had already spread like wildfire.
Half of Yan Lin’s troop, who were off-duty, were all waiting at the entrance. They had already heard about the hero who defeated the fog.
Fortunately for Xiaoyun, Yiming had the smart idea to drive back first.
When he saw the lines of people standing at the entrance, Yiming immediately dismissed everyone back to their tents.
By the time Xiaoyun made it to the entrance on foot, only a few soldiers were on duty to witness a half-naked red-skinned man walking in.
Inside the HQ tent, a soldier was already standing there, with a singular sheet of glass in hand, ready to cover the flask.
"This is fused silica, right?" Xiaoyun asked.
With the soldier nodding, he signals the soldier to slide the glass disk right in between the two flasks as he lifts one side.
A small red vapor immediately tried to escape, but the glass disk quickly blocked it, preventing it from escaping.
"Whew, we’re finally safe," Xiaoyun murmured, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"This is more intense than defusing a bomb..." Yiming murmured as he let out a small sigh of relief as well.
"C-Commander Xiaoyun, w-why is your skin so red?"
Looking over to the side, Yan Lin was standing there, his face in complete shock as his finger pointed towards him.
"It’s just the fog’s thing. It’s going to go away on its own... Just think of it like I just got a little sunburnt."
The explanation quickly satisfied all the nearby soldiers’ curiosity, but not for Yiming, who had way too many questions in his head.
"Everyone out. Yan Lin, you too——Wait, Xiaoyun, you stay."
All of the soldiers, including Yan Lin, hesitated for a second. They knew exactly what was going to be talked about in the tent.
Their curiosity filled their mind. But in the end, they all followed Yiming’s order and left the tent.
"Xiaoyun, what the hell did you do inside that fog? How did you manage to make the fog disappear?"
"I’ll explain it... Just give me a second to put this on first."
After putting on a pair of clothes, Xiaoyun looked over to the flask to make sure it was secured enough before taking a seat.
"Come on, take a seat. It’s going to be a long story... We have all night to talk about it before I need to go back to Luoping." Xiaoyun murmured.
"Stop being so mysterious and just say it already," Yiming asked impatiently.
"Okay, okay. It starts with me first entering into the fog..."
