Chapter 19 The Killing

The feeling of suffocation came quickly, but Bai Ye did not panic. Instead, he drew the military knife from his calf and stabbed it towards the opponent's neck.

With a "plop!"

Like the sound of rotten cloth being torn apart.

Blood sprayed out from the opponent's neck, splashing to the side, and the hands gripping Bai Ye's throat involuntarily loosened.

Bai Ye immediately raised his rifle, smashed the person's head with the butt of the gun, knocking them away, then got up from the ground, stepped on the opponent's chest, aimed the muzzle at the woman's head, and fired several shots, blowing her head apart.

The remaining two looked very angry, charging towards Bai Ye from left and right.

But before they could get close, Bai Ye raised his gun first.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang..."

As Bai Ye pulled the trigger, bullets poured forward, forcing them back.

"Come on!" Bai Ye shouted, "If you want to kill me, come here!"

The two used the surrounding tables as cover, scurried away quickly, then sprang forward, hiding behind the metal counter.

Bai Ye sneered, took out a grenade, and loaded it into the grenade launcher.

"Boom!"

The next moment, the grenade traced a parabolic arc, hitting the front of the metal counter with a loud explosion.

Flames erupted, turning into a huge fireball, incredibly hot.

Layers of heat waves pushed outwards, and as they swept past, a scorched smell could be detected.

Bai Ye unloaded the magazine, reloaded, and strode forward.

But at this moment, two figures suddenly darted out from the side of the counter, kicked open a metal door, and quickly entered the restaurant's kitchen.

Bai Ye pursued closely, reached the door, and kicked it open with force.

A strong smell of blood immediately assailed him, and then Bai Ye was stunned.

In the restaurant kitchen, two chairs were placed, with a man and a woman, both zombies, tied to them with wire. There were large amounts of crushed bones and flesh on the ground, and the dried blood had already stained the floor bright red.

When the two zombies saw Bai Ye enter, their originally dull eyes instantly showed ferocity. They struggled, seemingly trying to break free from the wires and pounce on Bai Ye, whimpering in their throats.

Bai Ye frowned, looking at the faces of the two zombies. They were both elderly, at least sixty or seventy years old. He suddenly understood something.

This was a family!

The parents had both turned into zombies, but for some reason, their child, though infected with the virus, had survived due to mutation. Then, that child had tied up their zombie parents here, even going so far as to capture living people to feed them.

This explained the voice on the radio.

It was a trap. The person was using a radio to send out broadcasts, luring people here, and then making them food for their parents.

It seemed quite touching.

However...

What did it have to do with him!

Bai Ye suddenly raised his gun, aimed it at one of the zombies' heads, and said, "Do you love your parents very much? Then come out, or I'll blow their heads off."

After speaking, Bai Ye scanned the front again.

"You don't have much time to consider. I'll count to three..." The next moment, Bai Ye grinned and said, "Three!"

"Bang!"

The gunshot rang out, and the bullet shot out from the muzzle, piercing the temple of a zombie.

Almost instantly, the zombie stopped whimpering, its head tilted to one side, and it fell silent.

"Sorry!" Bai Ye spread his hands, "I forgot to count one and two."

As Bai Ye spoke, he aimed his gun at the other zombie's head.

"Don't worry!" Bai Ye said, "This time, I won't forget to count."

The two men finally couldn't stand it anymore. One of them leaped out from behind the stove and charged at Bai Ye. The other opened a large oven, and another man rushed out, running on all fours like a wild beast, baring his teeth to bite Bai Ye's ankle.

Then...

"Pfft!"

The Frost Sword shot out like a silver light, hitting the man who was lunging, striking his forehead, piercing through his head, and severing half of his head.

Bai Ye, on the other hand, immediately turned and swept his leg, kicking the other man's head and sending him flying. Before the man could get up, Bai Ye had already aimed his gun at him.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang..."

As Bai Ye pulled the trigger and fired, the man's body convulsed, and the bullets hit nearby metal objects, splashing golden sparks and making "ding-dong" sounds.

A moment later, when Bai Ye had finished firing all the bullets, the man had fallen into a pool of blood, completely lifeless.

Bai Ye reloaded his gun, stepped over the crushed bones, returned to the last zombie, and then...

Raised his gun and fired!

"Bang!"

A bloody hole erupted in the zombie's forehead, and it fell backward with the chair.

Having done all this, Bai Ye turned and left the kitchen, intending to return to the supermarket to search for more food.

Although he probably couldn't get any gasoline, finding food and drink seemed good enough.

But just as Bai Ye returned to the dining area...

"Help, help me... whoever it is... please help me..."

Bai Ye stopped, then looked at the radio nearby. A call for help was coming from it.

But, so what?

It was probably another unlucky soul tricked by the broadcast. He just didn't know if they were a chosen one like himself, or a native of the world battlefield.

Bai Ye had no interest in it. He just paused for a moment and was about to move on.

"I'm on Highway 404, not far from Red Rock Mountain. There's a military green jeep next to me. Please, help me. I'm seriously injured and can't drive to the gathering point..."

Bai Ye immediately stopped again!

A jeep? It could be driven?

Well, it didn't matter if there was a jeep, it didn't matter if the car could be driven, and it even less mattered if the person had gasoline.

What was important was that he was kind-hearted, virtuous, and helpful. He absolutely hated seeing others in trouble and could never refuse to help someone in dire need.

Bai Ye walked to the radio, picked up the walkie-talkie, and said, "Hello, can you hear me?"

The voice immediately became excited, and shouted, "Yes, yes, I can hear you. Sir, please save me. I'm eternally grateful."

Bai Ye said, "I will save you, but I don't have enough gasoline to make a round trip. Therefore, you will have to wait a while. I need to collect gasoline before I can come and rescue you."
