With a bang!
Just as Bai Ye was wondering, the violent impact sound rang out again, followed by the elevator shaking violently, and a huge dent appearing on the elevator door. At the same time, the elevator suddenly dropped.
"Bad!"
Bai Ye realized something and quickly leaped to the side, stepping on the elevator wall and jumping upwards. He kicked open the maintenance cover of the elevator and grabbed the edge with his hands, then flipped out of the elevator.
At this moment, Bai Ye felt an urge to cry tears of joy. Being strong was good; if it were him an hour ago, he wouldn't have been able to perform such a maneuver even if beaten to death.
After climbing out of the elevator, Bai Ye didn't hesitate. He pushed off with his feet and leaped to the side, grabbing the iron ladder in the elevator shaft.
The instant Bai Ye finished doing this, the elevator finally couldn't bear the load and plummeted downwards. Soon, a loud crash echoed from below, indicating that the elevator had been crushed flat.
Bai Ye climbed up a bit, then grabbed the twisted elevator door and forcefully pried it open to both sides. As soon as the door opened, a man in his forties collapsed, dressed in a black, form-fitting martial arts uniform, likely one of the chosen ones from the martial arts world.
Bai Ye checked for a pulse and found none.
Bai Ye looked back at the elevator door, which had two huge dents. He figured the man must have caused them, but a person wouldn't just randomly smash into an elevator door.
So, a fight had broken out?
Bai Ye quickly scanned his surroundings.
There was a small space in front of the elevator. The metal trash can and plants beside it had been smashed. To the side was the C-area office space, with cubicles one after another.
Suddenly...
"Eight-armed Divine Fist!"
Bai Ye first heard a furious roar, followed by the shattering of cubicle glass. Then, a figure flew out.
The person looked to be in his mid-thirties, powerfully built, also wearing a martial arts uniform, and appeared to be from the martial arts world. He was in a terrible state, with a wound on his chest that stretched from his shoulder to his waist, where bone was faintly visible. Upon landing, he coughed up large amounts of blood.
Bai Ye bared his teeth and said, "Seems like the Eight-armed Divine Fist isn't very useful."
The man on the ground saw Bai Ye and said with difficulty, "Be careful."
The moment the other person spoke, Bai Ye felt a gust of wind rushing towards him.
Almost instinctively, Bai Ye leaned backward and pushed off hard with his legs, leaping back two meters.
As Bai Ye leaped away, a giant axe whizzed past the spot where he had been standing and embedded itself three inches into the wall.
"Roar, ah..."
A deep roar sounded, and the office cubicle near the elevator shaft collapsed. Then, a giant figure emerged, stepping on the shattered glass.
It was a terrifying-looking zombie, over two meters tall, with monstrous muscles. Its body was rotting in many places, and one eyeball hung outside its socket, swaying back and forth.
Bai Ye frowned, "Axe-wielding brute?"
This thing had some background; it was a mutated zombie from a viral experiment, though still a failure. Umbrella Corporation wanted obedient zombies with independent thought, so any zombie that lost its sanity was considered an unsuccessful experiment.
However, the mutated axe-wielding brute was quite strong. While not as powerful as a Tyrant, it was far stronger than an ordinary zombie.
Meanwhile...
Seeing another person, the axe-wielding brute instinctively walked towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye watched the axe-wielding brute with interest.
The man lying on the ground was already barely breathing. Seeing the axe-wielding brute approach, and Bai Ye standing still, he gritted his teeth and said, "Run, this guy's strength is very..."
The next moment...
The man's expression froze.
The axe-wielding brute raised its giant fist and brought it down towards Bai Ye's skull. However, it didn't even touch Bai Ye. The moment the brute attacked, Bai Ye suddenly raised his arm and seized the brute's wrist!
The scene was incredibly bizarre. The brute's arm was thicker than Bai Ye's thigh, yet it was being held by the wrist and remained motionless.
Bai Ye looked down at the man and asked, "Strength is very what?"
The man swallowed, speechless.
Just then...
Bai Ye felt another gust of wind. The axe-wielding brute raised its left fist and lunged towards Bai Ye's face.
Facing a fist nearly as large as his head, Bai Ye released the brute's wrist and leaped backward, lightly dodging the punch.
The axe-wielding brute was the strongest zombie in Umbrella Corporation's underground base, aside from the Tyrant. However, in Bai Ye's opinion, the brute wasn't difficult to deal with.
Memories from his past life were a great help to Bai Ye now because he knew the axe-wielding brute's weaknesses.
This guy had immense strength and destructive power, but his only flaw was his slow speed, in fact, he was incredibly slow!
Ordinary zombies already shambled along, appearing quite ungraceful. The axe-wielding brute was even slower than ordinary zombies, so its threat wasn't as great as imagined. At worst, one could turn and run, and most likely escape.
Therefore, the two lying on the ground had most likely thought they could defeat the axe-wielding brute and engaged it head-on, only to be inevitably beaten.
Meanwhile, the axe-wielding brute relentlessly pursued Bai Ye, swinging its fists, but Bai Ye skillfully evaded them.
This seemed to make the brute agitated. Suddenly, it grabbed the giant axe embedded in the wall and swung it fiercely towards Bai Ye.
Bang!
Bai Ye sidestepped again, and the giant axe landed on the ground, directly denting the metal plate of the floor. The ground below was also shattered, and countless stone fragments flew outwards.
Bai Ye curled his lip, still showing no signs of worry.
In an open space, that giant axe would indeed be formidable. With the brute's strength and such a terrifying weapon, one swing could easily cleave a person in two.
However, the space in front of the elevator wasn't large, and such a massive weapon couldn't be wielded effectively. In Bai Ye's opinion, it was less effective than its fists.
As Bai Ye thought this, he moved backward with small steps, luring the axe-wielding brute, until it reached the vicinity of the wall.
The next moment, the brute roared, swinging the giant axe in its hand in a wide arc.
Bai Ye seized the opportunity and ducked sharply.
Bang!
The giant axe passed over Bai Ye's head and plunged into the wall, and then...
It got stuck!
The giant axe carved a huge gash in the wall, but because it had been plunged too deep, the blade became lodged in the wall.
...
