Chapter 21 The Ambush

"Hey!" Bai Ye said, "Where are those guys robbing you?"

"Highway 403?" Vic gasped.

"After they rob you, where is their destination for escorting the supplies?" Bai Ye asked.

"They have main camps on both Highway 403 and 404, but their escort point should be the main camp at the end of Highway 404."

"Reason?" Bai Ye asked curiously.

"The main camp on Highway 403 is near the city ruins, while the main camp on Highway 404 is at the end of Highway 404. Judging by the distance from where they robbed us, the main camp at the end of Highway 404 is closer." 138 Reading Network.

"I see. This way, you can ambush them from both sides, and if successful, send the goods to the closer main camp. So, how long ago did they rob you?"

"Four to five hours ago. What are you asking about?"

"Although I can't save you, I can help fulfill your wish to kill those guys."

Vic was stunned for a moment, then exclaimed in surprise, "You're going after the Road Knights? Are you crazy? You'll die!"

"That's my business." Bai Ye smiled and raised his gun, pointing it at Vic. "Do you need my help?"

Vic looked at Bai Ye intently, then said, "Please tell them I'm waiting for them in hell."

"Okay!" Bai Ye pulled the trigger. "Goodbye!"

With the sound of the gunshot, Vic's body slumped backward, his head tilting to the side.

Bai Ye brought an oil drum, siphoned gasoline from the jeep, and poured it into his motorcycle. The last bit of gasoline, Bai Ye poured onto Vic's corpse, then lit a lighter and threw it.

The jeep quickly caught fire.

Amidst the flames, Bai Ye mounted his motorcycle and rode back towards the highway.

Four to five hours ago...

Bai Ye wasn't entirely sure if he could catch up to the Road Knights, but since a mission suddenly appeared, it must be achievable. Impossible missions didn't exist, so it was up to Bai Ye to seize the opportunity.

Bai Ye didn't overthink it; missions were about doing your best and leaving the rest to fate, sometimes relying on luck.

And this time...

Bai Ye's luck seemed to be good!

As he traversed the Red Rock Mountain area and returned to the highway, Bai Ye spotted a convoy driving on the road from a distance.

The convoy wasn't large; calling it a convoy might even be an exaggeration, as there were only three vehicles. However, those vehicles had undergone terrifying modifications.

Leading the pack was a pickup truck with its doors removed and two massive metal scythes mounted at the rear. A Gatling gun was attached to the roof, and the front grille was reinforced with two layers, making it look exceptionally sturdy.

The second vehicle was a bizarre creation, welded together from the shells of two cars, with giant tires taller than a person. The front of the car shell was hollowed out, with the engine exposed. Four blade-like attachments, each at least as thick as an adult's arm, were welded to the front. Being hit by this would likely result in nothing less than utter destruction.

But the most terrifying was the third vehicle. Those guys had somehow procured tank treads, using scrapped car shells. Eight tires on each side coordinated with the treads, and the armament on the roof was formidable, with machine guns mounted at all four corners.

Simultaneously, gear-like serrated blades extended outwards from the front and rear of the vehicle, and the front bumper had been thickened and fitted with enormous conical spikes, each as thick as an adult's thigh.

Only the Road Knights, led by the Undead, would possess such modified vehicles.

Four to five hours of travel, and he had caught up. They must have been delayed by something or had stopped for a rest on the road.

However, the reason didn't matter to Bai Ye; what mattered was that he had found them.

Bai Ye curved his lips into a smile and then accelerated, moving rapidly through the desert, quickly leaving the three vehicles behind.

After about half an hour, Bai Ye had put a good distance between himself and the three vehicles. He then stopped his motorcycle, first placing the Frost Sword in the middle of the road, and then rode his motorcycle away to a few large rocks in the desert.

Bai Ye knelt on the ground, took out the bipod and high-magnification scope from his gun case, attached them to his Aug assault rifle, and then lay flat on the ground, setting up his rifle.

The enemy vehicles were brutally modified, covered in weapons from top to bottom, while Bai Ye only had an old motorcycle. Ramming them directly would be suicide. To take them down, he needed to set up an ambush and force the vehicles to stop first.

Using the high-magnification scope, he looked at the road. The three vehicles were slower than he expected; he couldn't see them yet.

"Since I have nothing else to do..." Bai Ye suddenly remembered he had one gashapon draw left for the day. Since he had to wait anyway, he might as well pull it. "Might as well give it a try."

The gashapon machine appeared beside Bai Ye. With the whirring sound of the machine, a large gashapon ball rolled out.

Looking at the ball, Bai Ye was slightly taken aback; it was black.

The rarity of the gashapon balls was distinguished by color, ranging from white, green, blue, black, red, and finally gold.

Among these, white, green, and blue were considered low-level gashapons, while black and above were considered high-level.

This was because the items produced from the gashapon balls would undergo a qualitative leap starting from the black ones.

"Indeed, this is my turn for good luck! After so many unlucky times, things are bound to get better."

Bai Ye thought to himself as he twisted open the black gashapon ball.

Yin Yang Reversal: A profound technique from the supreme martial art, Tai Chi. It utilizes the body's yin and yang energy to create a vortex around the body. This vortex can absorb surrounding projectiles for up to nine seconds, after which it can expel the absorbed items with the vortex.

"Wow, it's a martial arts technique!"

From the literal meaning, it seemed to be about absorbing attacks and then reflecting them, but the actual effect would only be known through use.

However, considering it was a black gashapon ball, based on his past life's experience, from black gashapon balls onwards, the only difference was whether it was a rip-off or not. For instance, the damn "One More Time" slips had made him cry tears of bitterness.

But in terms of power, there was almost no doubt; from black gashapon balls upwards, they were all good items.

And at this moment...

The sound of engines could be heard from afar.

Bai Ye quickly used his high-magnification scope to observe the road.

The three Road Knight vehicles...

Had arrived!
