Chapter 30: I Detest You, Maria

Chapter 30: I Detest You, Maria

DAVINA

My breath hitched, hard and sharp as he continued to unbutton his shirt.

I couldn’t let this happen. Never!

I clawed his hands, digging my nails into his flesh but he became even more brutal.

He swung my body to the side and I stumbled to the floor.

The groan that left my lips was harsh, filled with a pain from deep within. I crawled on the floor, with my sight on the door.

But he came after me, like a raging wolf and it felt like he had gone feral.

The hope to escape was slowly slipping away, but then my mother moved, holding his arm.

"Diego, wait!"

"What?" He snapped at her.

"It’s not time yet." She shook her head at him, as I scurried to one end of the room, breathing hard.

I saw his face change, struggling not to curl his hands around her neck and snap her head off.

"Don’t fucking tell me what to do!" He sneered. "Do you think I care about time? I would have done whatever I wanted to her only if those boys hadn’t harmed her."

"Maybe that should have told you it isn’t time yet!" She pressed.

"The full moon is in three days, and our marriage will happen. Everything you want will come through that night, why can’t you wait?"

"Do you want to sabotage our plans?"

Silence prevailed, as my eyes darted between them wondering what they were speaking about.

Yes, the full moon when most werewolves would be in heat will happen in three days. It was a day when most marriages would happen and couples would consummate.

But it seemed these two bastards had something in stall for me. Something that had been brewing before I even got into the Packhouse.

"Fine!" Surprisingly, he relented. "But this doesn’t mean I won’t punish her."

"Yes." My mother agreed in a heartbeat. "You can beat her up or whatever, but not this."

He flung her arm away, glaring at me before storming out of the room. As soon as he stepped out, she let out a sigh of relief but the next second, her eyes blazed with fury.

"Can’t you just fucking stay still!" She snapped at me and almost slapped me across the face but then stopped in time.

"You had to go cause trouble at school and shorten our trip."

A lone tear left my eyes, "I was being bullied."

"So what?" She sneered. "You should have taken it in like you always had. You didn’t fight back before and you want to start now?"

"Don’t bring unnecessary attention to yourself. I only saved you today because I care about you, but not anymore."

"Know your place, Davina!"

I let out a small chuckle as I shook my head in disbelief.

"Care?"

She glanced at me, but then looked away as if burned by the glare in my eyes. She couldn’t stand the truth.

"You don’t care and you are not fit to be a mother." I hissed. "You want me subdued for life, hidden away in a mansion, and succumbing to a madman’s will."

"I detest you, Maria."

"You..." She pointed at me, her body shaking slightly.

But then, she reined in her emotions, taking a deep breath and then walked toward the door.

However, she stopped and looked back at me, "Someday, you will understand why I’m doing this. It’s all for you, baby."

Those words were a torment, not soothing like she expected. She wanted to give me hope but she shut the door and turned the keys in the keyhole.

I was locked up again.

And hours passed, with the only source of life from the window in the room. I watched the guards go and come, and a moment came when I heard loud screams echoing through the mansion.

"Let me go! You bastards!"

"Who the hell are you people?"

It was Aria.

My stomach dipped when I saw her being dragged into the mansion and the horror on her face made a chill go down my spine.

"What...what is she doing here?"

My mind churned in worry, as even though I hated her, I wouldn’t want such a thing as the Alpha to happen to her. Had he laid his eyes on another young woman to destroy?

What about the brothers? Weren’t they with her? Or had they been harmed too?

"Oh no..." I paced around the room, wondering if I was the cause.

Was it because I had fought her?

I rushed to the door quickly, banging my fists on it.

"Is anyone there? Let me out!"

It was futile, but this was the only way I knew. It was either death or whatever was behind the door.

And it worked.

I heard the key snapping in its hole and the door was pushed open with two guards storming toward me with cold gazes as if there was not a single soul inside them.

They held thick whips in their hands and my feet carried me away from them faster, in fear.

"Your punishment will begin now."

"What..."

A guard stepped forward, waving the whip in the air and the sound was a knock on the gates of hell. And at that moment, I felt a hot liquid go down my thighs.

I peed myself.

Finally, the guard had something cross his eyes. A smile, a mocking one that made my skin burn.

"We have not even started yet, and this is you?"

"Please..." I went down on my knees, clasping my hands together.

"Don’t do this to me, please."

However, my words met a heart of steel that had probably gone through a thousand bloodshed.

"Lie down!" He ordered, waving the whip in the air again.

"Please, no—"

Bang!

He stormed toward me in the blink of an eye and I felt a sharp jolt in my stomach. His large boots mashed into my belly, throwing me a few feet away.

It felt like my organs had been displaced and I coughed up blood. My eyes dimmed as they closed in on me, raising the whip in the air.

Slash!

The first one hit me and I felt my soul leave my body.
