Singular Sword to Multitude

Chapter 110 Fuxi Enters the Demon Court

After Di Jun and Tai Yi returned to the Demon Court with Fu Xi, Di Jun planned a welcoming feast for Fu Xi, summoning the Twelve Demon Generals to inform them of Fu Xi's joining the Demon Court.

When Di Jun, Tai Yi, and Fu Xi arrived at the Demon Court's grand hall, they noticed Bai Ze and Shang Yang were missing among the Twelve Demon Generals. Di Jun frowned, thinking this was an embarrassment. The Twelve Demon Generals represented the mid-tier fighting force of the Demon Court, and their absence at Fu Xi's welcoming feast was a clear sign of disrespect. Thus, Di Jun inquired,

"Why are Bai Ze and Shang Yang absent?"

Bi Fang, seeing Di Jun's displeasure, stepped forward and, feigning courage, explained,

"Your Majesty, Bai Ze and Shang Yang have gone out! I don't know the specifics of what they are doing."

Upon hearing Bi Fang's reply, Di Jun's frown deepened. Bai Ze had been present when he returned from Zixiao Palace. Could something unexpected have happened? Otherwise, Bai Ze would not have left the Demon Court.

Fu Xi, thinking that as he had just arrived at the Demon Court, it was time for these individuals to witness his abilities, began to deduce. In a short while, Fu Xi had ascertained the whereabouts of Bai Ze and Shang Yang.

Not only did Fu Xi deduce the whereabouts of Bai Ze and Shang Yang, but he also learned that the demon race had just suffered a defeat and were on their way back, soon to return to the Demon Court.

Fu Xi looked at Di Jun, thinking that the Demon Court had suffered a defeat as soon as he arrived. He wondered if he was a jinx.

Fu Xi looked at Di Jun with a strange expression and said,

"Your Majesty, the Demon Generals Bai Ze and Shang Yang have just returned to the Demon Court and should be entering shortly!"

The other demon generals, having been taken to Ziyang Mountain by Bai Ze some time ago, naturally recognized Fu Xi. Seeing Fu Xi speak, they wondered how he knew. Di Jun had long heard that Fu Xi's deduction abilities were formidable, comparable to Taishang's, whose path of deduction he had witnessed on Kunlun Mountain.

Indeed, as soon as Fu Xi finished speaking, Bai Ze and Shang Yang appeared at the entrance of the hall. The demon generals saw that Bai Ze and Shang Yang had indeed returned and looked at Fu Xi with fervent admiration, as if he were a beautiful woman. They thought that the path of deduction was truly powerful, and that they must build a good relationship with Fu Xi in the future. If they could ask him to divine for them when searching for spiritual treasures and elixirs, it would save a lot of trouble!

Di Jun and Tai Yi were also slightly surprised, thinking that Fu Xi was indeed as impressive as rumored!

As soon as Bai Ze and Shang Yang rushed back, a subordinate informed them that Di Jun was hosting a welcoming feast for Fu Xi. They dared not delay and immediately proceeded to the grand hall. After entering the hall, they bowed to Di Jun and Tai Yi. Di Jun looked at them and asked,

"Where have you two been? Why are you only arriving now?"

Bai Ze and Shang Yang knew that Di Jun was holding a welcoming feast for Fu Xi. They thought that revealing the demon race had just suffered a significant loss would dampen the mood. However, if they lied, they would be unable to bear the consequences. Thus, they hesitated and refused to speak. They did not realize that Fu Xi already knew everything.

Di Jun, seeing their hesitation, commanded,

"Speak!"

Bai Ze, seeing Di Jun's persistence, braced himself and recounted the events truthfully. Upon hearing this, Di Jun was furious and exclaimed,

"Who sent them to the Zhurong tribe?"

Bai Ze shook his head awkwardly and replied,

"They went on their own! No one ordered them!"

Di Jun was enraged and declared,

"They are truly audacious, acting on their own accord! Bai Ze, find out who led them and have them executed!"

Bai Ze quickly interjected,

"Your Majesty, please calm your anger. Today is a welcoming feast for Elder Fu Xi, and it is not appropriate to shed blood. Moreover, the leader might have already perished on the battlefield. Let us simply mete out a lesser punishment."

Di Jun felt that Bai Ze's words were reasonable and entrusted the matter to Bai Ze. After Bai Ze and Shang Yang were seated, Di Jun immediately introduced Fu Xi to everyone and conferred upon him the title of Demon King of the Demon Court, ranking below only himself and Tai Yi.

Fu Xi was surprised by the high position Di Jun bestowed upon him and quickly waved his hands, saying,

"Your Majesty, Fu Xi is new here, and this position is too high! I implore Your Majesty to withdraw this decree!"

Di Jun waved his hand in return, saying,

"Fellow Daoist Fu Xi, you are too modest. Your cultivation is not weak, and you are worthy of this position!"

Seeing that he could not persuade Di Jun, Fu Xi had no choice but to accept the title of Demon King bestowed by Di Jun. After deciding to join the Demon Court, Fu Xi took up residence there. Di Jun did not treat Fu Xi poorly, arranging a large dojo for him and assigning lesser demons to attend to his daily needs.

On Ziyang Mountain, not long after Fu Xi's departure, Nuwa awoke from her seclusion. Upon sensing Fu Xi's absence from Ziyang Mountain, she found it strange. Fu Xi would not have left while she was in seclusion; could something have happened? Nuwa went to Fu Xi's residence and discovered a note on the table that read:

"Little sister, Demon Emperor Di Jun has shown me great kindness. He came to invite me to join the Demon Court, and I could not refuse. Take good care of yourself—Fu Xi."

Reading the note, Nuwa fell into contemplation. She wondered when Di Jun had shown Fu Xi such kindness, as she had always been with Fu Xi. As Nuwa pondered, she suddenly recalled their joint entry into Zixiao Palace. Someone had secretly intervened to prevent her from entering, and Fu Xi had chosen to help her by blocking the attacks. If Di Jun had shown kindness to her elder brother, this would have been the only opportunity. Holding the note, Nuwa gazed in the direction of the Demon Court, lost in thought, and murmured with a complex expression,

"Elder brother, elder brother!"

On Mount Sumeru in the West, after Jie Yin and Zhun Ti returned, they became increasingly angered. Zhun Ti exclaimed,

"Senior Brother, those in the East are too much! That gourd clearly had seven, yet they drove us brothers away, especially the San Qing. They are simply too overbearing!"

Jie Yin, though also full of anger, comforted him,

"Enough, Junior Brother. They are numerous and powerful, and we are no match for them. When they are alone in the future, our brothers will teach them a lesson."

Zhun Ti nodded, agreeing with Jie Yin. If they couldn't fight, they could always retreat!
